Which Rewards Program

Im sure this has been discussed many a times, but i see there are a lot of dated information. Currently in 2015 and in the foreseeable future... Which rewards program should I try to build up? A little background information. I am in Texas, so Louisiana is a day trip for me which would be Total Rewards at the Horsehoe or even Harrah's. The main reason I want to build up is for Vegas though. I would like comps (food, free nights, shows, etc.). I guess priority would be free nights so I could just pay for a flight out and stay for free. Now I see I can build up Total rewards by shopping online etc. This says it will give me Reward Credits for online purchases. I have built up only around 5000 tier credits with M Life. I barely have any for Total Rewards right now. If i am only making it out to Vegas everyone once in awhile but have a better chance of going closer to Lousianna, would it be better just to do Total Rewards. Since MLife is vegas, missippi, or detroit. I appreciate any information
