I hope that isn't the case when I graduate in two months :/

Haha, this is true!
Although, lets hope that isn't something I have to deal with at any point.................
Betty Ann: Are you still a professional gambler?
Me: Oh, yes. I'll never give up my occupation
Betty Ann: Will you teach me how to do it?
Me: No
Quote: mickeycrimmA recent online conversation with one of my close relatives who I had'nt been in contact for several years:

You should have said give me a 50% freeroll sure I'll teach you.

djatc, I don't like trapping my relatives in a spot they can't get their asses out of. I have a total understanding of gambling. They don't. All i would be doing by teaching their asses anything is putting them in the trap. They will just never understand gambling like I do. I'm the gambler in the family and they ain't.

Much less what it took for me to prove to the world just how good I am at gambling. It was a long drawn out process. It took me years through a suffering process to prove to myself and to the world. Yes, I got there. But no one was holding my hand when I jumped a train in the middle of the night. No one was holding my hand when I was thumb bumming all those roads. I did it on my own. That's the difference to me. All you kind folks have never been in that spot. You've never jumped a train, you've never thumbed an interstate. Until you have, I don't place a lot of importence in you..
It's certainly not a "safe bet" now. It's more gambling. In fact, if you are smart enough to get into law school, you are probably smart enough to make money playing poker. So it's completely reversed!Quote: aceofspadesJust watching this and one of the young men they document keeps struggling between the "safe bet" of law school or attempting to become a poker pro

These tired tropes never really die. Remember Matt Damon's character in "Rounders?"
Being good at poker really has nothing to do with being smart enough to get into law school. Hell its probably the opposite of what your saying. Many poker players would make good attorneys, but few layers would make good poker players.Quote: teddysIt's certainly not a "safe bet" now. It's more gambling. I have seen guys who can play very good poker but you probably wouldn't think they were book or street smart.
I have seen people who are incredibly smart who suck at poker.
