Within fifteen minutes, I hit a decent win. $1300. Wasn't up much because of the losses but...
Waited 25 minutes to hunt down a slot tech and get paid.
Went back to playing and within ten minutes hit another jackpot for $1460.
Waited another half-hour hunting down a slot tech and getting paid.
Total profit, less than $300 from what I put in.
Total time at the machine, an hour. Total time playing, less than half an hour.
This is fun? How can waiting for slot techs over and over be fun. I went back to my penny slots after that.
You were obviously playing at the wrong casino. Normally the $25 slots are in a high limit room or just outside it. Usually there's someone designated to act promptly. After your first Jackpot they usually stand by from a short distance and quickly key it off and let you continue while they get the money. Oftentimes people just play 2 or 3 machines so they don't have to wait to be in action.Quote: darkozSo, for the first time, I felt I might have some fun playing high denom slots. I'm talking $25 a pull.

I don't know if that even qualifies as a high denom but for me it was since I usually play penny slots.
Still it's normally quicker. Anyway people usually play the one next to anything that locks up frequently. be lucky you even got a handpay. I've played $50 denominations without a handpay.Quote: darkozIt was a regular section but it was a $5 machine. I was doing max pull for $25. I should have specified that.

That was odd to me. I at least expected a bank of 5.00 machines. A true low roller place I guess.
They have $5 denominations for sure. They are near the slot club booth. Plaza actually has some decent slot %.Quote: texasplumrWhen we stayed at the Plaza in November the high limit slots were a dollar.

I saw security more than slot attendants and twice asked a guard to call it in. The first called it in but no one came. The second told me they were on a different line and could not notify the right people(yikes).
I finally saw one pass by on my own. Then had to wait till they returned for them to key the machine and pay me.
Maybe this is why AC is losing it's customers, at least the high slot rollers.
I guess I missed them then. Damn. I'll have to look for them next time downtown. We won't be staying there next time but I can still go there. She did pretty well playing there and since she's superstitious she'll have to play the same machine.
Quote: darkozWell, this is Atlantic City. Things may be different in Vegas. Here, I had to track down and wait.

And yes, you are right about AC. It is a mess to get a handpay, even in the High Limit Palace Court room at Caesars AC. Too cheap to have enough employees working.

I've seen 25c machines with a max bet of $75.
This is not how I want to spin off my freeplay. Variance is too high; I'd prefer to get a few decent hits out of it and at least make par.
(These are typically multi-denom; 300 coin max bet. I like 'em just fine on pennies or nickels, but dimes and quarters is too much for my meager freeplay offer.)
I haven't been impressed with any of the high-denom slots I've seen. The swings just look too big.

Yeah, not my general experience: actually not my experience at all. The local casino I play at arrive at my machine within a minute after hitting a jackpot, and then after providing my information unlock the machine to continue play while awaiting payout if I should so desire.
