We all die and will be forgotten and others can or will undo anything we do.
can't beat something you're part of and that's part of
you.
When you die, you are dead, but making a difference while you are here is what matters.
I would say it does matter who you are ; out of your examples Einstein had a much more positive impact than Hitler. Though it is unlikely either one will be forgotten for the rest of humanity.

Great post. Very yin/yang, "eastern" thinking. I like it.

That's self abuse, not beating. Oh wait, it's both,
and a lot more.
All else is window dressing.

You only win if you get out alive.

Sounds like self-pleasuring.

That was painful to listen to.
Quote: zrxmaxThat was painful to listen to.
It was the last song released by Hank Williams and went to #1 about a month after his death in 1953.
Sort of like Elvis, Bing, and Jesus to name a few...

Blasphemer.

At first I was all "Sure can! The key is landing on the doctor spot in the beginning. If you bust out and get the dropout, you're gonna have a tough go."
Stupid game. You get a financial advantage by having kids! What a joke! ;)
On topic, I will refer to one of my favorite quotes. 1st Baron Tweedsmuir and 15th Governor General of Canada John Buchan said "The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope".
Beautiful, is it not? The pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.
Isn't that the perfect commentary on life? No matter how disadvantaged, how advantaged, what barriers you have to cross, what paths are laid open, we are all able to pursue what is elusive but attainable. We are all offered a perpetual series of occasions for hope.
THAT is life. Like fishing, it is not obtaining that elusive goal. It is all in the pursuit. It is all in the trying. It is all in the taking part.
Try and you cannot fail. Try, and you win.

No, you're dead all right. You're name
might live on, you do not. At least not
the 'you' you think you are.
There's a lot to be said for that quote...

There's a lot to be said for that quote...
Woody has spent most of his adult life
in therapy, fear of death is a big one
for him.
When I was young and more naive than now, I believed my generation would suffer the tragedy of being the first immortal generation. Now I realize this will be savedand reserved only for the elite of elite and for everyone else, it's cheaper replacing us than fixing us.Quote: DJTeddyBearWoody Allen once said, "I don't want to gain immortality thru my work. Countless musicians have brought listening pleasure to the lives of millions because people aquire a taste for their music.
