I may go to the casino today to prepare for Festivus dinner tonight. Extra free play due to Bills win.

When I was in college one bar did $1 pitchers of beer when the Iowa Hawkeyes won. I enjoyed many of those pitchers, but in retrospect what a horrible idea to give college students $1 pitchers of beer.

It is better than ten-cent beers.

My first legal beer was $0.35. I think a pitcher was $4-5.
What is funny is if you watch old "Dukes of Hazard" episodes and see when Boss was doing some scam with super pricey beer at the Boar's Nest the $10 or whatever now seems almost normal.

Wow, I have no recollection of my first legal beer. I would guess it was in 1985 when I was in college but I was drinking in bars for years with fake ID's.

They won more than they lost. Actually one year that I was there the Iowa Hawkeyes were the number one football team in the country for one week. They lost that week.
In the 80s, the St. Johns BB team defeated Georgetown and was rated #1 in the country for the first time in a gazillion years. Their next game was against a very ordinary Boston team and never even made the game competitive

They did go to the Rose Bowl in 1985 while I was there. I believe Iowa Hawkeyes have been to five Rose Bowls.

In the 1970s I would attend frat parties where a glass of beer was a nickle or a dime.
During the week-long spring festival, beer was sometimes free on campus (at Rensselaer). They would have kegs on the steps of academic buildings and give beer away (in April.) I think the idea was to suppress marijuana usage by providing a legal alternative. (Drinking age was 18 and much ignored.)

I don't have nearly as many grievances to air as I did in the last few years.
