So far for that night:
Wizard
DRich
Paradigm and Ms. Paradigm
Doc and Ms. Doc
Switch and Ms. Switch
Beachbumbabs
OhioVegasGuy
I misunderstood something earlier in the thread and am correcting it now, so FRIDAY the 9th WILL be a meetup with me, SOOPOO, and any of you who care to join us. We will be at the Sugar Factory at Paris for dinner 6pm (they have huge portions, good sandwiches/salads/entrees as well as dessert stuff, moderate pricing). We will go from there in one of two directions; if we get a group that wants to shoot craps at Bally's, we'll go over there. If not, SOOPOO and I will be playing Asia Poker if we can get on the table. Please advise by either PM or post in this thread if you want to join us that night.
Thanks, all! Sorry for the back-and-forth, but I'm looking forward to seeing you all.
Looks as if Switch, Paradigm, their wives, and OhioVegasGuy will become new WoV acquaintances for us. Looking forward to it.
Yes, Switch and Paradigm, it's about time that someone other than Croupier, mdh, and I brought spouses along! Croupier and mdh brought their wives to the original WoVCon back in June 2011. Of course, Croupier hasn't visited the forum since last September, and mdh hasn't posted since September even though he visited the forum this week. Maybe letting their wives know who they are associating with on-line has inhibited their participation here. ;-)
Did you send your name for the Rover Card?Quote: DocConfirming that my wife and I will be there Sunday evening.

OVG is a representative (Part Owner?) Of Vegas Rover a Vegas rewards program like LVA. But it's slightly different as they use a Slot card type of thing. Normally the gold card is $60 he has offered members here A free gold card to anyone who is going to attend (There's some fair value) send him a Email or PM with your name adress and phine number.Quote: DocI think that must relate to a thread I haven't been reading. Did see some comment a couple of pages earlier in this thread suggesting there was some kind of conflict going on with that topic. I tend to avoid the conflict threads.
There has been some questions raised about the his past and about the business it's self.
Quote: SOOPOOThanks, BBB. I'll be there at 6 on Friday. If I round up a few friends, do you need to know far in advance for reservations?
I could be wrong, but it's a pretty casual place; I think a day in advance with a smaller group will be plenty.
Anyone attending the meet and misses the deadline I will also be more than happy to provide a code for a complimentary membership and the card will be mailed to you. This is my last post about the card until WoV members report back on their experience.
Quote: ohiovegasguyI am looking forward to meeting everyone on Friday and Sunday. Just a reminder if you would like a complimentary 1 year Vegas Rover Gold card I would be happy to bring one to the meet for you. I just need your name since cards are personalized. 2 attendees have contacted me so far and will bring your card with me. There are a couple $25 match plays to use Downtown and a $25 Push on 22 BJ. I know this forum is about +EV. Tomorrow will be the deadline for this offer.

Brad,
I'm going to try your offer, so please check your PM's and thanks.
That said, I'm going to say this publicly rather than in PM, because your whole Vegas Rover thing has been a public debacle on here. It's going to sound rude, though I don't mean it to be.
You as a person and forum member are welcome to come to both of these events. You pitching your product to everybody there isn't. Though I expect it will be a natural topic of conversation, neither of these are a Rover meetup, and I've heard from some folks who may not come because they think you intend to use it as one, and they're not comfortable with that. These dinners are meant to be relaxed social things and for us to get to know each other.
Please come primarily as a guy who enjoys talking to other people about gambling and other things in their lives, like the rest of us. Most of us are willing to decide for ourselves who you are rather than blindly listening to either the detractors or supporters who flooded our forum over the last week or so. Please give us the chance to do that.
I'd appreciate it if you'd acknowledge here that you saw this and can do it, not for my benefit, but for those on the fence. Thanks again.
Loud and clear. The only reason it was mentioned about cards was because some wanted to try for themselves and report back. I will be happy to answer any questions before or after the meetup and will bring the cards for those who requested one. Looking forward to seeing everyone next week.
Brad

Just wanted to add: I am still around, and will attend dinner and meet up with people. This place is "our crew" of gamblers (- and game designers), and I think WOV is instrumental as a site. I also think WOO was critical for gamblers, casinos, and the industry as a tremendous resource on the games played at casinos.
Maybe things changed for me at some level after Mike sold it, but I am glad he's still a part of things. This is aside from all the minor shot-taking that's a part of any board [Paigowdan? - Just lost interest!] etc., that somehow tires me of WOV. I guess EvenBob and Buffpaff (and the like) had had their effect.
I remember when WOO was "Mike's Gambling Page." The forum too, is a big part of Mike's legacy and contribution, but to me the concept of Mike "no longer owning it all" was a disconnect for me, like the end of an era. I know this isn't true, he's still a part, but it affects my view.
Sunday 6pm 777 Grill and Pub (MSS)- expecting 14-20, depending on several maybe's and some anonymous attendees.
Would enjoy seeing you at either. I heard you might show and would enjoy meeting you.
Also, Makino on Decatur@Flamingo (NW corner) tonight at 6 for sushi.
Doc is also looking to meet up 11th thru 15th if people want to find him.
I'm here til the 17th and willing to meet up if people want; can PM me.
I also found a guy who thinks he can do the challenge. He has to have a week's notice so he can train up. Challenge #4, anybody?
Quote: beachbumbabsHey, I was at the McD's this morning, first time ever. They remember you fondly!

If this becomes official I hope it gets it's own thread and over/under's =P. Hope everyone has a good time!

Yeah, Romes, I was going to give it a day and see if there was interest before I started a new thread about it. Don't know if we want to extend the Challenge to a (currently) non-member, but he's an employee there, and he seems seriously interested in trying it.

Non members are not fun. Even if he joined right before it would be not fun. Didn't wizard bil or something do one. It's just not the same with non members. Part of the lure is it is someone we all "know"

I think the consensus is that any new challenger would have to pass a 50 piece qualification test first. I would like to suggest that the qualification be changed to 40 pieces in 30 minutes, only because they sell the bulk nuggets in lots of 20. I would also consider the bar being set at 60 pieces in 40 minutes, again, because the lots are in 20's....

MSS being the one on the end of Fremont, right? Might pop in if I get there early enough; I'll be driving up that day, unless plans change.

+1
Quote: VenthusMSS being the one on the end of Fremont, right?
Nope. You might be thinking of the Plaza. Main Street Station (MSS) is on Main Street (the cross street at the end of Fremont) but about two blocks northeast of Fremont. It's the old hotel that was converted to look like a grand train station. It is quite close to US95.
In preparation for my trip to Las Vegas, I spent today at Harrah's Cherokee, losing money at craps. I was wearing a WoO shirt that drew a lot of comments from players and crew alike. It seemed that almost all of the craps dealers were familiar with WoO and many knew about WoV.
It turns out that the box man at the table where I spent most of my time is even a member here, focusing his attention on the game inventors' corner. Apparently he has his own game in addition to being a crew member. Haven't we heard that scenario before? I'm not going to mention either his name or his WoV user I.D., since I don't know whether he has revealed his day job here.
Course looks a little rough but I'm cool with that. I love golf and love playing on rough courses , bargain.
Here in Florida in the Summer, cheap coruses begging for golfers, typically 20 bucks and you get 18 plus a golf cart :-)
Quote: terapinedGreat pic, both looking good.

Thanks. That was one of the rougher looking holes. Almost any course in Vegas is going to have no shortage of desert vegetation, to cut down on the water expense. At least there isn't as much trouble with losing balls into trees.
Quote: WizardThe fun is getting started already. Here I am with SOOPOO playing golf. Lovely 66-degree day.
Ahh, the timeliness of the comic strips...

Two quick questions-- how's the parking at MSS, or, alternatively, is there a shuttle there from anywhere south Strip? Only thing that comes to mind is Harrah's>Sam"s>Fremont.
I'm headed to the airport in a few minutes and look forward to seeing everyone tonight!
Quote: NicksGamingStuffI am planning on going also.
Anyone planning on playing table games should plan on sitting next to Nick. I was on pace for my first losing vacation in quite some time, when Nick sat next to me at a Tiles table. The $100 in front of me turned into $550! Another +$150 at PGP made the trip plus $300. I am golfing this morning (weather permitting!) and then back to Buffalo. Unfortunately I leave right before the get together tonight. I did meet Brad, who kindly gave me the Vegas Rover card. I didn't get to use it this trip but will on my next visit. He was nothing but a polite gentleman. In case mike forgets to mention it.... I took a $2 bill from him on each of our golfing days. Big money bets ...... BBB and I and a couple I know who just moved from Buffalo dined Makino.... Better than ever there! I'll let BBB discuss the dinner at Sugar Factory!!! Last night went to Bootlegger on LVB south... quite interesting place with average food! I did have a great time with a different couple who also relocated from Buffalo.
I have enjoyed this trip so much I am thinking of setting up more 4 day weekends..... Direct flights are great!
I also will be trying to set up another WoV Niagara get together for June or July..... I think I'll be able to entice Mike into a guest appearance....
Details to follow....
Have a great get together all.....
Quote: DocThey have their own lot right across Main Street. There is a fee that used to be refunded at the cashier's cage, but I read on here that they stopped doing that sometime since my last visit (WoV Spring Fling 2014).
I can confirm that the parking fee at the MSS is now totally nonrefundable.
Sorry I missed you this time, seepoo,( oops! SOOPOO I mean) But you know why. I tried the other night, but it had been a long day, by the time I was done, and I was out of it. I especially didn't want to fight the strip traffic and parking.Quote: SOOPOOAnyone planning on playing table games should plan on sitting next to Nick. Quote: DocSame case (non-free) at Binion's now?
My downtown parking advice is use Binion's validated parking garage. To get a validation, just make any bet at the sports book. I'd recommend just betting on ANY underdog. Present your parking ticket at the time you make a wager and they will stamp it. As I understand it, there is no lime limit with such validation. If you don't get validated, then you will have to pay.
Nice central location and you don't have to pass through level after level of reserved spaces. I think with the D garage you do have to go through lots of reserved levels to get to the spaces for the ordinary folk.
Never knew Binion had parking-- handy tip. I was looking at some of the Colts/Broncos props anyhow.
