I'm in town Jan 7 (Wed morning) thru Jan 17 (depart early evening).
Makino on Decatur January 8. All welcome. Probably 6pm.

My wife and I will arrive in Las Vegas on Sunday 1/11 for four nights at the Rio. Then we will drive down to visit Palm Springs and Laughlin before flying home. We would certainly be available for a get-together during the period we are in town.

I always schedule the last 2 weeks in December for vacation so therefore I work all of January.
Jealous, hardly, will be in Vegas for 7 nights starting day after tomorrow :-) Dec 23-30.

Definitely can't make the Friday night affair; bummed I will miss meeting SooPoo (we need a portfolio update by the way....I am liking my CELG pick for coming in pretty high in a rates of return comparison at the portfolio anniversary in February).
I would be in no shape for any hike on Sunday as I am sure the last night of the 50th B Day bash is going to run into the early hours on Sunday AM.

Yes, I will have a car. Our plane is scheduled in at 3:20 p.m., figure something like 5:30 by the time I have picked up the rental car and checked in at Rio. I think we will be available most any time after that, (and I am too old, fat, and lazy for the hike anyway.) Downtown, strip, or off-strip would all work for me. Also available the next few days.

I expect to meetup with aceofspades while you're still in town, Doc, and perhaps the Wizard will be a social butterfly and show as well for a third meet, so it's good you're available for several days. Other people in town while you're here who've indicated an interest are Axel, dj, PaiGowDan, Rich Neuman, a couple others who don't necessarily want to be named here.

I fly in from Atlanta around 9pm on Friday so it may be too late for Venetian but I might be able to meet up if anything is going on after (and I'm not too jet-lagged). I'll be flying in with Pacman (who is now my boss) - yes, I now work for Bally as a game developer and Bally have purchased my company, so Vegas may feel a little different than in my previous visits :-)

Regarding Sunday, I recommend our usual Strip venue, I Love Burgers in the Palazzo shops. Maybe some tiles afterward.

I vote for Downtown on Sunday as I will be moving from the Strip to the Downtown Grand for that night. MSS works for me or Pizza Rock for some craft brew and pretty darn good pie Pizza Rock Las Vegas
Another member said the pizza place at MSS was excellent as well. Food is a secondary consideration for me vs. location. We can certainly head back up to the Strip for I Love Burgers if that is the consensus......Tiles will be out for me, but I will definitely watch and learn.

We will be meeting on Jan 11th, Sunday. Place is still not set; if downtown, looks like 777 bar/restaurant in Main Street Station, if the Strip, looks like I Heart Burgers in Venetian/Palazzo. Dinner will be at 6pm; meeting time might be that or earlier. Wizard will provide a trivia contest.
I would appreciate further preferences stated on downtown vs. strip with Sunday in mind; sounds like more people would have to travel to the Strip (staying downtown) than vice versa, but Doc's timing also plays into that.

Either place should be OK for us, provided our flight is on time. We will just pick up the car, drop by Rio to unload, and head either downtown or to the strip. Shouldn't make more than a 15 minute difference. Of course, we will still be adjusted to Eastern time, so we likely won't make a late night of it.
