I'm playing Baccarat...and have looked at one long side , and see a three sider....I then look from the top without respect to the direction of the suit ( i.e. which way the hearts, spades , or clubs
were pointing) I see the two corner pips...and squeeze down a bit and see NO center line pip down from a top.

What are the chances this card is a 6? What are the chances this card is an 7?

I have the same three sider...and as above do see squeeze a center pip near a top.

What are the chances this card is a 7? What are the chances this card is an 8?

I have no effin idea. I don't understand the baccarat rituals.

It's not so much a Baccarat question, but rather a simple question of odds. There are 3 cards that are "3 siders" ... 6 , 7 & 8. Each of these cards have 3 pips along the two edges on the long side of the card.

The 6 card , then has no pips in the center axis of the card, hence 6 pips total.

The 7 card , has one pip near one top along the center axis, hence 7 pips total.

The 8 card has a pip near both ends of the center axis, hence 8 pips total.

So , once you see a three sider, its 1/3 to be a 6 , 1/3 to be a 7 and 1/3 to be an 8.

My question is the next step, if u have a three sider and see one pip near the top of one random center axis, what are the odds the card is a 7?, an 8?

And if you see no pip near the top of a random center axis, what are the odds it is a 6? , a 7?

So the question, is just a simple odds question, rather than a Baccarat question. It just makes Baccarat more interesting as squeezing the pip is a bit like squeezing the pips in pai gow tiles!

teddys- this isn't a ritual question at all.

This is a probability question a lot of gamblers get wrong.

Assuming you have a 3 pips across (long edge), and you slowly squeeze from the top edge down. If there's no pip in the middle immediately below the first two pips, you have a 66.7% chance of having a 6, and a 33.3% chance of having a 7.

Likewise, if there is a pip, you have a 66.7% chance of having an 8 and a 33.3% chance of having a 7.

So next time, when you need that snowman, and you already see a pip in the top-middle, you don't need to yell "DING-AH!!" too loud because you're a 2:1 favorite to have the 8.

A similar probability question: you have two pieces of paper, one piece is red on both sides and one is red on one side, black on the other side. You are shown one piece of paper with a red side facing you. What is the probability that the back of the paper is black?
