there's now a casino near where i live.
that casino has partnered w/the Wynn in Vegas.
i have a free 3nite stay plus $200 freeplay that expires in Feb.
no brainer if i can find a flight from DC to Vegas for $200.
but if it's more than $200, i need something else besides gambling to see Vegas.
so what's new in Vegas besides the giant Ferris wheel and SLS?

My "locals" are three+ hours away--I have almost stopped going to them because none of them are anything like Las Vegas. The feel is different. Las Vegas is the place where you can gamble in ten or more places in an hour if you want...changing whenever the mood hits you. There are world-class shows and restaurants. It is a spectacle.
Choose the Encore if you can and have a great time...
I used to go to the local and play, but it was never the same. I know craps is craps and slots are slots, but it just isn't the same...
Additionally, I would think escaping DC area and the east coast winter for 4 days in January or February might in itself be worth the trip. :)
Did they have The Beatles LOVE Cirque du Soleil show five years ago? IIRC, there's also an Elvis-based one and a Michael Jackson-based one.
I don't think any of the Gordon Ramsay restaurants were there five years ago, if you're into that sort of thing. Now, he's got a steakhouse, a pub, a burger place, and he's also opening up a fish & chips spot at the Linq (not the hotel) soon. If you're more a D3 guy than Hell's Kitchen, Guy Fieri has a restaurant here as well. (Word of warning: I ate the "cheesecake challenge" at lunch, and it laid in my stomach all afternoon.)

There is more to do there than the time you have in 3 nights:
Great shows - Cirque Du Soleil's, Absinthe, The Million Dollar Quartet, Elton John, Terry Fator, Shania Twain, Penn & Teller, Michael Jackson One, etc, etc, etc
Battlefield Vegas - Huge gun and military range where you can shoot hundreds of military weapons from World War I to present.
Dig This - Drive caterpillars, bulldozers, excavators around a huge dirt area doing what you dreamed of when you were a kid. Digging!
Exotic and Race Car driving courses- There's probably 4 or 5 to choose from depending on what kind of car you want to drive.
Bellagio Fountains at the Bellagio, Dueling Pianos at Paris, The Excalibur Dinner Show, Dinner Theater Downtown, The Goodsprings Ghost Hunt...
If you can't find something (or lots of things) to do besides gamble, you should see a Dr. :)

If you haven't stayed at the Wynn, I would recommend that you go. Three nights and $200 bucks freeplay is like a $500 - $600 comp since the rooms are so nice. After you pay air, food and cabs, your out of pocket might be a wash compared to three days of play at your local place.

I like Guy as a loud-talking host but his self-branded restaurants aren't exactly destinations, to say the least.
people under 50. When I got in my 50's I
realized my interest in all the crap Vegas
offers had waned to nothing. I find it all
very boring now. I like playing, eating
at buffets, and being in the room. People
watching is like watching my cat lick itself,
puts me to sleep.
We are the "newest" casino on the strip and it is worth seeing even though it is a little far north.
If you like blackjack and you like to keep the HE as low as you can, I believe we offer just about the best game in town at these particular limits.
It's a no brain decision. There is nothing like Vegas......nothing :)
Also Rod Stewart is here too until December and his show is absolutely worth seeing (we went again last night).
Come and visit us for sure!!!!
