This is why I would never deposit front money.

No reason to give the casino any kind of leverage over you.

Also, I do things like cash chips well in advance of my departure so that I'm ready to go when I need to.

I don't know why you went through all that rigamarole.... and why do you keep using tiny markers...if you have seventeen thousand on deposit your first marker should have been for five thousand or ten thousand, the next markers at five thousand. Why are you pissing around with 2500 markers?

Yeah.. if you're buying in for $2500 might as well just use cash.

When I play on credit I usually take out markers in 10K increments.

When I get into town I prefer to not carry all of my money with me. I prefer to deposit it into the cage. I have no problem carrying around a few thousand bucks but don't feel the need to carry my whole trip budget. I play with a lot of players who often take out markers for 1K or 2K at a time. I usually take out 2500 or 5000. On this particular day this was in the evening and I had already lost a 5K marker.

Well, I guess that makes sense.

Have you ever considered getting casino credit though? 17K is a pretty big bankroll if you're a square player, and the casino should be more than happy to extend you credit.

That way you don't have to carry money into town period. Just bring a check.

What I have done the past several trips is I pick up the cash at Chase bank once I land. I have the hotel limo take me there to pick it up. I call several days ahead to make sure they will have the cash and it has never been an issue. I usually fly in during the morning on a Monday or Tuesday and stay during the week so banking hours aren't an issue for me.

I have considered a credit line. I used to bounce around a whole lot more casino to casino which is why I would always bring cash. I now keep most of my play at 1 or 2 properties so will probably apply prior to next trip.

One thing I did find out this past trip is MGM properties will transfer front money cage to cage. I inquired at the cage about playing at another property and they said just go to the cage at that property and it will be no issue at all. I asked if I needed to setup anything in advance and they said no.

Ah, that makes sense. Though it's easy to get credit lines at multiple places. Once you get approved at one place, every other casino in town is eager to match the credit line that you got.
