Here's something I didn't know: at Borgata, ask for a handicap room. The thing is freakin' HUGE, with a big bathroom and a separate sitting area with couch and coffee table. It's about 2/3 the size of a Fiore suite. Plus it's right across from (not next to) the elevators; no walking all over when you're bleary eyed. I was worried it would be noisy, but it was fine.

Why not ask for a handicap decal for your car as well? Disgusting.
Quote: sodawaterBorgata also has "deaf" rooms that are the same size as normal rooms, except you can set the alarm to wake you up with super bright flashing lights. Always fun.
Did the TV have sound? You guys/gals alarm those of us who know people with actual disabilities or disadvantages such as being deaf.
Quote: NokTangWhy not ask for a handicap decal for your car as well? Disgusting.
Why doesn't the casino ask for evidence of a handicap to give him the room, such as a decal for your car if you are handicapped? Would you turn down a room if a handicapped one was the only one left?
Quote: NokTangDid the TV have sound? You guys/gals alarm those of us who know people with actual disabilities or disadvantages such as being deaf.
I've never asked for a deaf room. Sometimes when you check in they just put you there.
Of course the TV had sound. Probably because some deaf people in the history of the world have non-deaf traveling companions.
Quote: ahiromuRooms for gimps are not always superior, keep that in mind.
Wow, very derogatory term. Do you also use such nice terms for other groups?
Quote: bwWow, very derogatory term. Do you also use such nice terms for other groups?
"When describing someone who is lame, gimp is used with disparaging intent and perceived as insulting. But within the disability community, it is sometimes a term of self-reference."
Just like the N word, it's only bad if somebody
outside the demo uses it. Confused yet?
Quote: 1BBNowhere did Mosca say that he obtained a handicapped room under false pretenses. Hotels will sell them to anyone depending on the situation at the time. That doesn't mean a handicapped person was deprived of a room.
He said he asked for the handicapped room to take advantage of the larger accommodations at no cost. Most hotels aren't going to ask for proof of your disability. Most who are actually suffering from a handicap will reserve a room designated as for such and not make an issue of it like this Atlantic City group does and has now. It's no wonder the "Northeast" crowd is indeed a "breed apart" from the rest of the U.S.A.. Now you have your bond defaults and want the rest of the country to bail you out. No thanks but who knows. Democrats are the same ones bombing the Gaza Strip and killing defenseless women and children and men without arms to resist. I"m sure you will find a way for the rest of the country to bail out Atlantic City.

It would be rather unseemly to listen to the TV while courting a deaf person. I'll however leave that up to another jury as there is an argument on the other side. That leads us to "blind rooms". I wonder if some here would like a room with padded walls to knock each other around in? Only in the Northeast would such things even be thought of.

I woke up angry. It's morning here in Asia and I have a busy day ahead. Justification for parking in a handicap space and/or requesting said room when you are not handicapped just rubs some of us wrong. But I'll leave it up to you. Oh, yes, bombing schools and hospitals doesn't exactly make my day either. I don't care what's in the basement. You still have to blast through children to get to it. Find another way.
Reserving a handicap room at a casino seems fitting for some gamblers. Some of them are even retarded.Quote: NokTangI woke up angry. It's morning here in Asia and I have a busy day ahead. We just got one without asking. And, the standard for getting a handicap room is not a legal one. Mrs Mosca currently has a torn meniscus, which allows her to walk but is painful. It doesn't rise to the level of needing a placard, but it was certainly nice for her to not have to walk to the end of the hall.
My dad is handicapped. I would only ask for a handicap room if we needed it, and we didn't ask for this one.
I DID advise it as a tip, however.

Sure, but what defense do you have against the bond defaults or the gaza strip bombings?
Quote: BuzzardI occasionally see some young dude park in handicap. I check for a sticker, in case he is picking up Mom. Then I put every cart I can find around his car. You know, in case he needs them.

Nah, I don't do that stuff on the internet.

You're doing the lord's work Buzz.
Quote: NokTangDemocrats are the same ones bombing the Gaza Strip and killing defenseless women and children and men without arms to resist.
I would support a rule that requires responses in a thread to be germane to the original posting. Since there is no such rule (see quote above) I feel entitled to respond.
I also have read (but don't have immediately at hand the actual text) NokTang's reply about it being late, being tired, being in Asia, and, specifically something like "regardless of what's in the basement".
"Democrats are the same ones bombing Gaza": Are all Israelis Democrats? The response of Israel, say what you will about it, reminds me more of a Republican (Ronald Reagan) than a Democrat (see Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama). The last person in the world that I could imagine dropping a bomb anywhere would be the current very-Democrat occupant of the White House.
"killing defenseless women and children" Agreed. They are as defenseless as the women and children of Israel, living under the constant threat of rocket attacks which no one denies originate in Gaza. If the Israelis were incapable of defending against these attacks, in intercepting the rockets, then there would be many more defenseless women and children dying. Israeli women and children. The big difference is that because of Iron Dome, they are not defenseless.
"....and men without arms to resist" Oh. Have the men run out of rockets? Or are the rockets not considered "defensive" weapons, so even if they have them, they are, technically, "defenseless"?
Just to combine the "logic" of the above quote. If we can call the firing of rockets from Gaza into Israel to be a form of "bombing", would that not make all Palestinians "Democrats"?
As to what's in the basement. If you move into a house and then find out that there is a cache of rockets in the basement, ok, even though it's not your fault, you have two obvious options. Move the rockets. Move to another house. If while you are sleeping, someone silently moves a cache of rockets into your basement, again, two obvious solutions. Move the rockets. Move out of the house. But that's not what's happening. Those rockets are in the basement SPECIFICALLY because your house has a big sign on the roof that says "SCHOOL" or "HOSPITAL" or "ORPHANAGE". You don't discover these rockets, unknown to you beforehand. The rockets were not brought into your house in the middle of the night. Do you honestly think that what's in the basement is there just as a matter of random chance, that it's not deliberate that the rockets are not being stored in the basements of unlabeled buildings, or ones labeled "ABANDONED WAREHOUSE" or "FORTIFIED BUNKER" or "NOPE - NO ROCKETS HERE"? Is it common practice to keep rockets in the basements of orphanages? Is that were we keep ours?
This thread is entitled "Atlantic City Open Forum". Obviously, the first two words don't modify the second two, and in fact this thread has two distinct titles - "Atlantic City" and "Open Forum". Works for me.

Good luck with those flat tires. Radials can not be patched, if ice picked in the sidewalls. Insurance will insist on worn thread statement
and only pay partially. Trust me, I know. Take the rest out of your winnings.

Had heart attack Dec 2013 Walk with a limp. Jumped out window many years ago, broke ankle, he was smaller but that gun in his hand looked like a cannon. Leave them spots and stickers for them that needs!
Whenever I see her do it, I must always resist the urge to run up to her and congratulate her on her 2 year long pregnancy and ask if she is giving birth to an elephant or something.
Nice thought, but I've never seen it being used, and I go there frequently: pretty wasteful allocation of a prime parking spot.

I'd urge you to search for Kohl's in the "Not Always Right" website. You may have made it there.

Their parking lot is private property. And with the exception of handicap spaces which are often are regulated by law in many maybe most states, other spots (expectant mothers, employees of the month etc...) is totally at the choice of the store.
That said, if you park in an employee's parking spot or expectant mothers spot and the manager sees it, as he is in charge of the property he can kick you off of the property and/or have your vehicle towed if you refuse to comply. Or even legally charge you with trespassing if you refuse to leave... It's the same concept that many say here for casinos (which often have seemingly silly rules). Private businesses can remove anyone for any reason or no reason and if you are parked on their property in violation of their policy, you can be towed as well.

I see no problem with asking "do you have any accessible rooms available?"
If there aren't any available, no big deal, but I don't see why I shouldn't enjoy the amenities if they're available.
BTW: the accessible rooms at many hotels are pretty nice, usually a nicer shower.

I'm not talking about stand alone stores. Do the stores in a mall own or control the parking spaces in front of their businesses? I think most are owned by companies like Simon Property.
Anyway, if I get backed off from Kohl's I'll let everyone know. Maybe they'll just flat sale me. :-)

About 10 years ago, the wife and I were at Disney World and were given a handicap room. Same type of setup, but the floor sloped towards the floor drain, which was in the shower. No problems. Perhaps your room at NYNY was a remodel with a flat floor. Ours was a new hotel where sections were still being built.Quote: ahiromuI just wanted to say that I was forced to stay at an "accessible" room at NYNY in Vegas and I will never do that again. The issue was that there was no ledge between the toilet and the shower area, only a curtain. Therefore, the bathroom as a whole flooded after taking a shower. Furthermore, the bathroom did not fully drain, forcing me wear shoes or walk in water to go to the bathroom overnight.
Anyway, one day the wife and I were getting frisky, and started to think about that floor, and water sports came to mind.
Yadda, yadda, yadda... We hope to never get another handicap room.

Wow! You'd think I've committed a capital offense. Do you think Buzz will flatten my tires? Sorry, the cars I would normally use have run flat tires. I doubt that anyone was overly inconvenienced the few times that I did it.
1) I never thought of it as punishing someone.
