Looking at the quad thread and something mission said I started to think about myself and wondered who is like me.

What I am thinking about is my stay vs play tendencies. When I "stay" I always stay in a suite and usually for value and also usually in a non gaming hotel. I like the lux life where I stay and lay my head at night.

On the other hand when I play I am a low limit player usually, so I am happy to gamble in dumps or off strip properties as I am there for the entertainment value of gambling.

The strip with all of the 20 something 30k millionaires turns me off, the 6-5 $10 blackjack tables turn me off, the $10 craps tables turn me off. I like a nice dirty smoky tuscany or Ellis island to drink and gamble my night a way.

My thoughts are a lot of the forum members are opposite of me, they want a nice place to gamble and don't care where they sleep. Am I crazy?

I guess my questions is what is more important to you the stay or the play??

Well in my experience, the nicest hotels in gambling towns tend to belong to the casinos. The non-gaming hotels, in Vegas and AC at least, compare poorly to the casino resorts there.

I just want to be within a few hundred feet of a bunch of different places, which is one of the reasons I like staying Downtown so much. The problem with my area is that you're lucky if you can hit two casinos in a day, and three-four would be possible but seriously pushing it on driving time. If I'm in the mood to play Craps, for example, I like knowing I can go into Four Queens, decide the crowd there is just a bit too loud that night, and then have ten or more total different Craps tables at other places I can go check within twenty minutes time.

Video Poker, also. Ambiance, and all of that. Just depends on what I'm in the mood for, but with so many casinos close to one another, there will always be something that aesthetically meets my mood at that particular moment.

I dislike places like the Bellagio and Wynn VERY boring to me. But I don't want to stay at a dump, but I'm not above doing so if its going to cost me 200 or 300 cash a night. for As far as the gambling goes, as long as they have good stuff, I don't care if its at the former western.

If someone was given a choice to pay to stay in a fair casino or free in an unfair casino, the choice would be obvious, but the choices never are obvious.

I am very much the same type as the OP when it comes to the casino; I like it cheap, close, convenient, non-pretentious. I tend to give my play to the "one whut brung me" and play where I stay. But I'm pretty happy with a basic hotel room, with the following exceptions: I want a coffeemaker. I want a hair dryer. I want blackout curtains. And I want to NOT listen to my neighbors, so some quality construction/soundproofing is important. I'm in the room 4-6 hours a day (unless I get a bad buffet meal), and almost exclusively to sleep.

CET does all of this for me, along the east side of the strip; 7 properties, now, all within walking distance (including OShea's absorbed), all adding to the same comp program, low enough table stakes on nearly everything, and they tend to give me a better-than-basic room as well. So they tend to get my business.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.
