Free wifi started DT in Dec, anybody tried it yet? Supposed
to be centered on Fremont. Does it work in the hotel rooms
on Fremont. If so it will save me 8 bucks a day that I usually
spend to hook up. I read it's only 2 mps, just enough to go
on the internet, not enough to download files.

I couldn't get it in rush tower at GN or the Plaza. I was able to get it most of the time at the 4 queens aka The class of downtown.

The Plaza has its own free wifi, or they did when
I was there in May.

I think the Downtown Free Wi-Fi was kind of in and out of my room at The D, but I never had more than one bar. I just paid it and used The D's..

I tried it a few times and it sucked.

My WiFi is usually turned off. I use 3G or 4G on my phone.

I stayed at the Freemont downtown several weeks ago.
Could not get free wifi in my room.
Stepped outside under the canopy, free strong signal. It was great.
Did all my surfing under the Freemont Exp canopy.

The D charges $9.95 (?) for 24 hrs, can use comp to pay for it; Danny's restaurant is free, 24 hours with paid coffee or meal

$7.95 or $21.95 for three days. I think their Premium is $9.95, but don't really know what the difference would be.

You can find free, or at least unsecured, WiFi here and there all over Downtown. At the D it's rather easy to hook up on the upper floor of the casino, where the slot museum is. At the Plaza there's usually some near the conference rooms.

Under the Freemont Exp canopy, The free wifi service I used was
_LV.Net Free
Excellent connection. It brings you to their downtown web page. You have to click on a web page button (surf internet button) to get out of home web page to surf the net.
When I was in downtown by the Freemont hotel, the connection was strong and fast.

I remember staying at the Imperial Palace about 4 years ago. Paid the something like 9.99 for daily wifi. Connection was slow. They had another deal for something like 14.00 a day for high speed. Charging for wifi sucks, charging even more for high speed sucks more.
