Quote: beachbumbabsI sort of get the model thing, and sort of don't. Definitely put the eye candy out front for attracting the buyers. But relying on them to sell the product with a couple hours briefing on how to demo it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. CES brains may tilt on eye candy, but they respect fellow brains who can go into the weeds with them from bitter experience. Gotta have both, unless the product can speak for itself. (Which at CES, is increasingly common.)
I don't think that CES is about selling products; it's about generating buzz about products.
Quote: HotBlondeI do find this odd. You don't go to women's events and see tons of scantily-clad men showing off the products.
Because men are more visual than women. With guys, it does help to be good looking, but then again, there are plenty of average/ugly guys who do very well with the ladies. For example, there are umpteen beautiful women out there who will sleep with a guy just because he's good at, say, playing the guitar or singing. Look at Mick Jagger.
I think it's safe to say that the female equivalent of Mick Jagger (looks-wise, that is) probably doesn't get hit on very much. lol

Hopefully Paco won't find this thread or he is sure to post an image of an example.

Better yet, use Keith Richards as an example.

I'm surprised it took this long for someone to bring up this point. Men are definitely more visual than women. I think the point is over-stated sometimes, but all you have to do is look at the ratio of strip clubs featuring women to that of strip clubs featuring men to understand the difference. Also I would point out the amount of pornography looked at by men compared to women, but that's harder to quantify than the strip club ratio.
Yeah, like a geek will ever be able to say NO to a real hottie !
Quote: Buzzard" It would be haphazard to have the models trying to sell a product to geeks. "
Yeah, like a geek will ever be able to say NO to a real hottie !
A geek wouldn't say no but he wouldn't say yes either, he would just ask for someone more knowledgeable, geeks are fickle like that. Just because she is hot and he has little experience doesn't mean the product falls second to her looks. In the end the geek is going to spend a lot more time with the product...he is going to make sure it is what he wants.

CES is more about showcasing products than selling them.
Quote: BuzzardBut what if she promises to give him what he really wants, but is too shy to ask for ?
They must be paying a model a lot for that kind of service. If that were the case I am sure they would buy the product sight unseen.

Can you let me know when THAT expo happens please? :)

When the Comdex'ers had their conventions in Las Vegas the hotels would be sold out but the casinos would be empty. There was a joke about it. "A Comdex'er comes to town with one tie and one twenty dollar bill. And he doesn't change either one while he's here." But I heard the stripper clubs did well when the Comdex'ers were in town.

There definitely are groups that are more into certain areas. When I worked at Mandalay Bay, which has a huge convention space, it was amazing to see the action and interaction of the delegates after work time. Most of them still had their tags on so you could clearly see which was which. Sometimes the bar in the center of the casino was packed and sometimes the casino was packed. There were almost always some stragglers up at 1 or 2 AM, drunk off their asses trying to play blackjack with like 4 women hanging around them, also 3 sheets to the wind!
The other problem, in my eyes was that on way too many occasions the conventioneers walked straight past the table games as the minimums were wet too high. $15 in the afternoon and $25 and up in the evening. Not good!
No. I could care less.Quote: TranscendTrue, but if there was scantily clad men would it not draw you to that both...if not for what they were selling but for the eye candy?
Quote: HotBlondeNo. I could care less.
And if they were a whale at a baccarat table?
Then hells yes! Sit me in the seat next to him!Quote: TranscendAnd if they were a whale at a baccarat table?
:D
Well there you go, I could give a rats ass if a wale was playing high limit anything, I would not give it a second look. However if some young cute female was playing pennies, I may take a second look.Quote: HotBlondeThen hells yes! Sit me in the seat next to him!
:D
A guy may be walking around at CES, and not be paying attention to some new product. If he now sees some girl that's really hot with a nice pair, he might just investigate the product, to get a better look at what she is showing, who knows he might like all 3 things she is showing.

In that unlikely event, I'll have to give a lecture on the Nash Equilibrium beforehand.
hay if anybody here goes to bicycle or commerce (but i am liking the bike a lil more), then u are bound to catch/see me at the blackjack tables

Quote: juiciejenniehi all i'm back! sorry wizard for not meeting you/doing that lil shoot...honestly it was cuz i was busy at ces and gambling; went to caesars after ces w/ another model friend and then i went back to caesars alone next night and gambled for 4 or so hours (won $800 yay!)

Can you take a picture of yourself with a sign saying I <3 The Wizard and the days date and post it so we can end the debate of your being real or not. A model shouldn't have a problem taking a picture right?

There would always be someone that says that they put another person up to it or had a stand-in. Never underestimate the powers of the jaded and skeptical.
Those are faked all the time. I request a short video. Honestly the email scammers do it all the time and super easy to fake.Quote: TranscendCan you take a picture of yourself with a sign saying I <3 The Wizard and the days date and post it so we can end the debate of your being real or not. . Easy to fake and easy to spot a fake as well. Rather easy to tell Photoshop vs actually in the picture. A video would most certainly be rather hard to fake. As for someone getting her to take the picture with the sign...I think she might get suspicious and wonder why the hell is she taking the picture and who is this Wizard she loves.Quote: onenickelmiracleThose are faked all the time. I'd like to hear about your blackjack experience at Caesars. Why did you choose Caesars? What were the table minimums and what was your top bet? What were the rules of the game you played and the number of decks? How were you and the others at the table treated by the dealers?

Welcome back. I would suggest not playing blackjack at the LA casinos, due to the 1% fee per hand. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Everybody else, remember the forum rules and mind your manners.
Quote: Beethoven9thBeing skeptical is one thing, but I can't believe the members here who are demanding a photo or video with a sign. That's so ridiculous. lol
Not demanding, just saying it would be the easiest way of proving the validity of said poster.

We'll see what she says to the Wizard's offer of a paid gig. I admit, I was skeptical from the start, but if she turns down the Wizard, then that's enough to convince me that someone's just posting here to mess with us. Real models are always looking for real modeling offers, and even if she knows nothing about gambling, all it takes is a quick 2-second Google search to find out that the Wizard is a legitimate client with a respected website. Unless she's up there with Adriana Lima and other supermodels, I can't see why she'd turn down work from WoO/WoV.

There is zero doubt in my mind that she is real.

So you are willing to lay me 100 to 1 on her being real ? Just saying.

Very very true. Sounds like we found out your favorite super model as well.
Quote: AxiomOfChoiceThere is zero doubt in my mind that she is real.
I agree, it would lay the issue to rest though, but it sounds like some bets need to get laid down before the truth comes to light.
Zero doubt seems to not hold up when faced with the reality of losing some money !

Sure, you put up a cent and I'll put up a dollar. Please make sure it's shiny; none of these old dirty dull pennies.
How do we resolve the bet though?
