Agree.
Well. We shall soon know if this little lady was for real I think.

I hope it was a joke too. But I would hate to see someone get scammed that way. I would rather look foolish for not getting the joke than to see someone hurt/scammed. Thanks for the backup.

I hope so too. If nmacgre comes back and calls me an idiot for believing him, I can take it. I'd rather get called an idiot than see someone fall for this scam. It is almost as old as the Nigerian lottery winner one.
He said he is sending the difference back to her today. nmacgre, if you're reading this, aren't joking, and haven't sent the money yet, then don't. Her check will bounce.

Personal insult. Three-Day Suspension.
I'm kidding, I'm kidding!
Quote: skrbornevryminWas the check drawn on a Nigerian bank by any chance? Regardless, the check will be fake but you will have given her the change in real money by then (it can take weeks for the check to be verified as fake sometimes, then they will just reverse it out of your account). One of the oldest scams in the book. "You've just won a big prize. Send us a check for the taxes, and we'll send it right out to ya." C'mon dude, DO NOT DO THIS! They have banks in LA. Tell her to get her own ticket. DO NOT send her any money, change or otherwise. Seriously, THIS IS TROUBLE, be very careful.

It would have been a better joke if he was actually being insulting with the post. :P He just is stating a very possible outcome. I am hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst. As a 3rd party though, I can simply enjoy this.

She sent me 2k too much, so I gotta get the excess back to her today. I'll send pics when she gets in. Was an endorsed check from some modeling gig she did, guess it saved her a trip to the bank. Good to know she's got a steady income.
Well played, sir. I didn't know if you were serious until this post.
I think it's time to declare nmacgre the official winner of this thread.

I was recently looking for a car on Craig's list.
Some one tried to scam me by getting me to buy a car unseen. I knew something was up right a way, but I played along for a few emails. Basically they had a car that was only 60% of blue book. They wanted me to send them a check and they would have it shipped from Florida to me, They sent all paperwork and shipping details.(I didn't bother to investigate the supposed shipper) I told them I had someone in Florida and they would come give them cash for the car. The said they were on vacation, in a different state. I said I would wait for them to return, in the mean time I asked if my friend could look at the car, they said, it was already crated ready to ship. I told them I would pay the shippers cost just to let me look at the car. I don't remember what BS they came up with after that, but they had an excuse for every possible scenario I came up with, to why I could not pay cash for the car or see it. They desperately wanted a check.
90% of the time you can tell the scamers are from Nigeria, just from the words they use and how overly polite they are at the beginning. (Dear kind sir.)
I posted a big warning up on Craig's list with the all the details including the email conservation.
I got about 20 emails from people thanking me for the warning 2 of them said they almost fell for this if they had not seen the warning.

I'm not quite ready yet. Like I wrote earlier, I'm 90% sure he is kidding, but am taking it seriously just in case he isn't. I'm ready to say "I'm an idiot" and add 25 push-ups to my tally when he admits it was a joke.
Let's also keep in mind that nmacgre that written about his betting system in the past.

A friend's son fell for this very scam about 8 years ago. It apparently is one of the tried and true car scams out there. In that case, a 'Cashier's check' was presented for the vehicle in question, but it was a very good forgery that the accepting Bank actually took without any questions asked.

If he believes in something mythical, like betting systems, then he may fall for anything. I don't think that's the case; I'm pretty sure it's a joke.

I have had the exact same scenario I think 3 times now when I was looking for an RV. Once it was in a crate in Colorado with the people in Cali, then it was in a crate in Cali, and I don't know where the scammers were. Same stuff, it must work for them or they'd switch tactics. I'm always a bit suspicious and won't deal with them unless they will at least post a phone # if they want to sell something, geez. I know I was thinking if they put a 40 ft. motorhome in a crate that had to be a big crate.
Glad you didn't get burned. It is definitely a pita though when searching not knowing if I found a good deal or won a lottery from Nigeria.
You won the lottery in Nigeria too?Quote: petroglyphwon a lottery from Nigeria.
However, no one has copped to talking to her, meeting her or anything of that nature. The Wizard offered her paying work for his site. Wouldn't a professional model be interested in that? I believe the majority of the people who sent PMs did not have bad intentions, so why the silence?
Good case for Weblock Holmes and maybe a good story for us story lovers.

Definitely not in on anything, was only trying to derive the most information that seemed to fit the given description. I am just as interested in seeing where this goes as the rest of everyone.

Yes, I offered to give her some modeling work. We exchanged a few Emails but there was a communication breakdown and we couldn't pin down a day and time. She never offered a phone number, which I think any professional model serious about work, would.

And, for the record, nmacgre is absolutely joking in my book. He has been setting us up from the get-go.......in my opinion of course.

Female check
Younger check
From Cali check
Plays blackjack check
Model material for booth at show check
Refers to blackjack as BJs check
Can't tell what the side bet is
A lot of facts match up, so it could actually be the pictured woman posting here. OR it could be a rather sophisticated prankster, who found that profile and impersonated a woman on WoV who matched all of those facts.
I don't know, this whole thing stinks like yesterdays socks.
If this person is real and enjoying the fruits of his (oooops) labor, well then so be it :)
Quote: TomspurThe amazing part for me is that we have spent so much time on this subject when "this person" is clearly leading everyone on. Also, and this is the one I have a big problem with......"this person's" online footprint isn't too hard to find at all. Her instagram handle is the same as the one "this person" would use here, kind of like "this person" wanted to be found, especially by a bunch of guys who like gambling and who perhaps could be short of female attention........

It is more than just her instagram, it is a photo bucket with a different name, as well as another site that has information that checks out. I'm not saying she might not be real, but if it is a fake... Someone has no life pretending to be her. They went through a great deal of work to find and use the information...but for what gain?
Quote: TranscendThey went through a great deal of work to find and use the information...but for what gain?
This is pure speculation, but there's a possibly (albeit a slim one) that it was simply a current member who was trying to prank everyone here. (I wouldn't put it past some people)
Someone should do a Google image search to see if these are used by catfish. I would but don't use my computer anymore. The search really only works well when you download and upload to Google for whatever reason.Quote: TranscendIt is more than just her instagram, it is a photo bucket with a different name, as well as another site that has information that checks out. Original information I found using a google search of "their" name

Asked about a lucky charm "they" used while gambling due to this picture with the tag "my lucky charm"

Quote: juiciejennie
The photobucket user name has nothing to do with anything previously posted and the "charm" is identical to the one posted on the Igram along with some bedazzled car emblems. Seen here http://s757.photobucket.com/user/wuxxup/library/?sort=3&page=1
Although the name on the account is different than the one she posts with.
The emblems tie in to a thread here (this is just "their" profile) http://www.modelmayhem.com/1369494
She also posts about being at CES here, as well as still being active on this site.
Facebook also returns an account on "Jenny"
Reverse image search on google and tineye turn up no hits, except for the obvious modeling pictures that will be posted.
"They" also posted pictures from a casino that is close to where "they" claim to be from as well as the recent pictures taken in vegas while "they" said they would be in Vegas.
Either someone else has too much time on their hands like I do to look for all of this and then claim to be said person for god only knows what reason. Or Jenny is legit.

Quote: onenickelmiracleSounds kosher. Image searches not showing anything is probably because they're on membership sites like Facebook which is always a problem sleuthing. If it doesn't fit, you must acquit I suppose.
"Her" Facebook profile is not private. Images match others posted by "her."
It's weird how the Google image search works. Quite often the place you found the image doesn't show and it's public. Can't say for sure, but it seems it looks for the name of the picture you have for it and might not work if resized. Anyways certainly not even close to reliable and can only be trusted when you find something. Seems there are ways to fool it, because I've had some people post slot fake pics but couldn't prove it later because they used some way to beat the system. Really Google has problems with Facebook even on public photos but can't explain why.Quote: Transcend"Her" Facebook profile is not private. Images match others posted by "her."
Seems this all jives for juicy as it is so far. Nobody will know until they meet her.
I've always had a similar opinion stating good looking girls don't gamble because they have no need when they can get a sure thing pumping a boyfriend for money. Then the women I mention this to ask me if I'm implying they're not good looking. Oh no not you, you're good looking.Quote: TomspurGirls that look like her don't play blackjack............just my opinion
I think there's something to this attractiveness idea because I've looked around and thought the general population is better looking than what I see here. You can see some hot women strolling around, though they are walking around not gambling and are probably explained to only being there because their boyfriends are there gambling trying to win a few more months of her.

I saw an extremely attractive girl sit down at a mini-bac table at PH a few months ago. She was ridiculously hot, like model material. Didn't have any clingers/boyfriends, so she must have just wanted to gamble for a bit. Maybe she was a chip hustler since she only bought in for $100 on a $25 min table. Didn't give her any chips but for some weird reason I always ended up against her without me knowing it till after she lost.
I wonder why I have bad luck with women lol.
