And we will almost certainly be early and hungry!
I am good with whatever is chosen. With that many calls by you, and that many ' in meeting' responses, it does seem like Jo Jo is not interested in hearing about your needs or request. GWAE has a decent idea with the email, and you have a nice set of facts to back up how you are not getting any cooperation. Of course, that is just more work for you. :-(
Leaving the casino will probably mean the party breaks up a bit sooner than we had planned, with some people opting to leave after dinner, so pushing the dinner to 4:30 is probably a bit better if we go off-site. We don't want to push it back too much though, since some people needed to leave early, due to a long drive.
I expect to be there early myself. The drive is 476 miles, so 7 hours. I will probably be leaving around 4:30 AM, just to have a bit of a buffer.
Quote: JohnnyQIt just seems like leaving the casino for dinner adds some complexity to the situation. That's my 2 cents. I will probably be driving out and back on the same day unless I can find a good deal at a Holiday Inn / Express.
If we do vote again, The Terrace will automatically be up for the re-vote and we will just be seated all over the place. We're going to play Craps, which has -EV, we're going to play slots which COULD have -EV, except for the loss rebate people...I really don't see the need to give an establishment with such bad customer service (The Terrace) any of our money. That's just my opinion.
EDIT: Seriously, 16-20 people, that's 4-5 tables, right? How hard can that be?
People report what they got from priceline and hotwire.

Yup.

It's 14 minutes away in nearby Bridgeville, the burgers are great, and they have a nice little backroom that Janine (I called) just said we can have at no charge.
Again, this is just a vote, so I'm going to put The Terrace back up, and if it wins again, so be it.
By the way, someone with no Player's Card should be the spinner for the slot pool, that way the investors can collect on the loss rebate.
The main issue I have with Sauce it that parking is horrible. FWIW for anyone else who has spent time out west, Sauce is *not* part of the Sauce chain in Arizona.
I re-nominate The Sharp Edge.

I figured, wasnt going to vote for it either. Never mind though, it will be closed at 4!

The steak sandwich is great. We could then walk to my house.

I agree, the parking is bad, which is one of the reasons I thought of car-pooling, even though I'd suggest we do that for off-site anyway.
The Terrace Café

Sauce
I will call and check on the seating situation at The Sharp Edge later. I already know Sauce has a room we can have.

We still have to see if there are any more nominations, voting starts tomorrow.
However, I guess we could start tallying now...
Sauce: 2
The Sharp Edge: 2
The Terrace: 1 (?) I think JohnnyQ effectively voted for The Terrace

If you meant Dorstop that place would probably hold only us and nobody else. It is tiny!
As far as anywhere else, I have no idea what is around Washington so will leave that up to anybody more familiar with the area, although I do see a "Mr Big's Sports Grill" right down the road from Meadows.

Yes, I will vote "tomorrow" for The Terrace at Meadows simply to avoid the hassle factor of driving anywhere more than a mile or two off-site.

Not sure how much I can trust these listings though.

It is relatively close but I doubt they will be able to get us all close together. Where it is located is "franchise central" of Little Washington a/k/a Washington, PA. All the chain places will be jammed that time of day.
If people like Hibachi there is a place a little further away. Would need to be 2 tables though.
Secondly We don't know if Terrace might place us in the reserved room anyways when on the spot that day.
I'm not really loving the idea of leaving the casino in the first place knowing the high will probably be mid twenties and don't think the risk of travel just for one table is worth it when we can't really be sure how much time is actually going to be lost.
Edit: we can always reconvene for the trivia quiz if broken up. There will be plenty of places from the food court, to lounge areas, to downstairs for this.
Quote: onenickelmiracleMaybe we should go to Rivers for their buffet. We will know the travel time(60 rt?) and wait time for food(0)and I think it's better than not knowing how service will be somewhere.

A.) In my opinion, it's too late to change casinos, the Craps minimums will be higher (possibly) and James has been very kind to our group organizing a Craps table for us.
B.) Maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't, but I question the overall quality of a restaurant with that quality of customer service. Also, if they have that little interest in a party of 16-209 on a Sunday why give them the business?
C.) The high temperature for that day is in the 40's. There is also no reason to believe there would be anything impeding our path to anywhere we want to go, it's just not a busy day.

Should that be construed as a nomination?
An email to that Customer Service address may get some action on Monday. I just can't believe they aren't willing to take a few steps to bring 20 guests in on a Sunday at 4:00 PM. And, even if they aren't, someone needs to hear how bad their (lack of) response to you has been.
A 10 or 15 minute trip away from the casino would not be a bad thing. It might even be nice to get away from the noise for a bit. But I would say 15 minutes is the max travel time that should be considered.
I agree that The Meadows Casino has been very good to you so far, with the extra craps table, so we should continue with the plan to meet and play there.
Some of the Roadhouses I have been to have a back section where we could meet as a group. If they have a separate section, then yes, that would be a nomination. If they don't have a separate section, then I like any place that does.
I noticed a Red Robin listed too, but I doubt they will have any kind of set up for us.
http://doubletree3.hilton.com/en/hotels/pennsylvania/doubletree-by-hilton-hotel-pittsburgh-meadow-lands-PITMPDT/dining/index.html
There is a restaurant inside the hotel. I have eaten there 1 time and it was decent. It is a little on the higher end of price compared to a Applebees or other chain places but nothing crazy like the steak house.
I just called and spoke to Matthew who is the food and beverage manager. Their website says that they are open 7 days and on Sundays after 5pm. He said that they have recently started only opening on Friday and Saturdays. I explained to him that the casino gave us the run around and he said he would be more than happy to get staff in there to give us a nice service. I believe their lounge area is still open 7 days which serves food so it wouldn't be all bad for them.
He was only there doing some ordering today so I caught him by chance. He won't be back in until Tuesday 4-11. Pierce I gave him your name so if you call he will be ready. 724-222-6200. He also asked if we would want a limited menu or full menu, 1 check or separate, and if we need bar service.
The hilton is within walking distance to the casino (no direct path so its a little far walk because you have to walk down the road or cut through weeds) and there is a shuttle to and from the casino so we should be able to hop on that. When I stayed there they didn't ask for a room key or anything.
ETA: I also told him 20-25 people but I don't know what the actual count for dinner is. If we only have 10-12 then they may not be willing to open.
Thanks, GWAE!
I hereby change my vote to DoubleTree.
Sauce: 1 (Vendman1)
The Sharp Edge: 2 (AZDuffman, OdiousGambit)
DoubleTree: 4 (GWAE, OneNickelMiracle, RaleighCraps, Mission146)

since I am new to this site I am curious to how other meet ups have gone. More so, does everyone generally show up when they say they are. I did a meet up on another forum once and there were 20 people attending and only 6 showed up. I was quite annoyed.
Quote: GWAEOne thing that I just realized. When I talked to him I never specified 20 people sitting at the same table. I asked if they could accommodate a party of 25 and he said yes. I know their tables can be pushed together so I don't think it would be a problem.

I have not done any of the Vegas meet ups, but I get the distinct impression from reading the accounting of the meetings, that we actually have more people come than signed up. Some people just drop in.... ;-)

At WoV-East-I we had a pretty good turnout of everyone who said they would show showing. Some could not stay all day but said so beforehand.
Perhaps someone can report turnout at the LV meets?

Vendman1 has switched his vote to DoubleTree, since I nominated Sauce and also switched my vote to DoubleTree, I hereby withdraw my nomination of Sauce.
Quote:To the best of my understanding, the current roster of attendees is as follows:

DRussell0208

OneNickelMiracle
Wrongway w/Mrs. Wrongway
Mwalz9
Mosca w/Mrs. Mosca
OdiousGambit
GWAE w/Mrs. GWAE
Vendman1
JohnnyQ
Wudged
RDW4Potus (Maybe)
The Following Has been Decided:
Casino: The Meadows
Date: Sunday, March 2nd, 2014
Initial Time: 12:30p.m.
Initial Meeting Place: The Food Court
Dinner Location: TBD
I'm thinking we're going to meet & greet for the first 1/2-1 hour and then move on to playing whatever each person is going to play.
GWAE
Do you have an update on whether Mrs. GWAE will be coming, I forgot, I'm sorry.
Here is my concern, I think 25 people might have been a serious overestimate.
We have fifteen for sure (Mission146, Teddys, AZDuffman, Vendman1, OneNickelMiracle, MWalz9, Mosca, Mrs. Mosca, OdiousGambit, GWAE, Vendman1, JohnnyQ, RaleighCraps, Wrongway and Wudged)
KeyserSoze has not been on since last month, so I don't know what to make of that. DRussell0208 (and significant other) has not been on for a week-and-a-half, so again, can't be sure. It sounds like RDW will be there if he can keep his Monday schedule clean. Wrongway has now confirmed, but we don't know about Mrs. Wrongway.
With that having been said, barring any surprises, our range is going to be 15-20. I very seriously doubt if we will have 20 because that would be KeyserSoze, Mrs. Wrongway and DRussell0208 (along with significant other).
I just hope that it won't be a problem with the restaurant. Right now, I would expect something like 16-18 because I don't think every possible person shows up, but I don't think every possible person fails to show, either.
Quote: beachbumbabsAt WoV in Sept (G2E) I would say we expected about 14 and got about 22, with a few drop-ins for a 1/2 hour early, and a couple late in the event.
With how many of our Members are Vegas-based and also there for G2E, I wouldn't count on there being anyone other than who committed, personally. I definitely appreciate the information, though.
If anyone has someone to bring, by all means.

Mission, it must have been a poor cell phone connection. I said after a few drinks, she was not above strip-teasing.
In accord with the new rules, allow me to say I consider this a compliment.
Any who doubts my veracity, need only remember that I believe Pole Dancing should be an Olympic event.
Mission, When I talked to the guy I had said I have no idea how many people would be there and I said 20-25. I was kinda on the spot because I was just calling to ask and wasn't expecting him to say they were closed since their site says they are open. I am going to be tied up most of the evening on so I won't be able to call him. Would you mind calling with the details we have by then. I will find out for sure about my wife as well.
