for a hundred years.
The Bradford is simply a, "Shaken martini," the problem being, if it's shaken, it is no longer a martini, it's a Bradford.
Shaking it rather than stirring mainly results in it being a bit colder, which is why I prefer a Bradford to a Martini. If I have gin at home, it's generally in the refrigerator as I prefer it cold.
I am surprised you didn't find the drink service that quick at the Golden Nugget. I had the fastest drink service ever when playing there. My wife and I were playing $10 PGP and tipping $1 a drink. The waitress was really cool, I would guess about 55 years old with the gravelly voice of a life long smoker. The dealer told us she had worked at the GN for over 30 years. She was returning just as fast as we finished our drinks (usually G&T for me when gambling unless it is a really high end place. It's hard to screw that up.) After 4 we were getting a good buzz and I needed to sober up to drive to the airport in a couple hours. We told the waitress no when she asked and she says, "you're not wimping out on me are you?" I really like the GN.
I have found that even at the top tier places on the strip a $1/drink tip gets quick return visits. Also I don't think any waitress cares how much you are gambling. They only care about making tips. They can get in trouble for serving non-gamblers but if you are gambling at all you are OK. I will admit that my own lowest gambling is typically $1.25/bet at quarter VP so maybe I am mistaken about really low penny slot players. I suspect the slow service is more related to the likelihood of the players stiffing the waitresses. That should only apply to the time before the first drink/tip.

6.) On Buffalo's last offensive drive of the game, will they score a touchdown that absolutely does not matter? (At this point, 1st/Goal in Red Zone)
Misson146: Yes ($1)
Wizard: No ($1)
Result: Touchdown, Mission146 +$1
7.) On San Diego State's last position, kneel or make a play on 2nd down? (They just made a play on first)
Mission146: Play ($1)
Wizard: Kneel ($1)
Result: Kneel Wizard +$1
8.) Free Roll, "Mission146, I bet $1 you won't let that dominatrix spank your ass,"-Wizard
Result: Spanked ass, Mission146 +$1
Pro football, college football, and at least one dominatrix? Clearly I've been watching football at the wrong places in Vegas....
Quote: jml24Great trip report ! I really enjoyed it. I like downtown too for better gambling and casinos that are just casinos, but I also admit I really enjoy the strip. It does suck the money away though. I have a feeling you wouldn't enjoy some of the restaurant prices.
Thanks for the compliment! The longer I'm gone, the more I want to go back!!! I'm going to be chomping at the bit by next Winter.
There are probably some good things about the Strip, but everything is great about Downtown! I am pretty cheap when it comes to eating at restaurants, I'll admit, but if I didn't insist on a minimum tip of 25%, then I wouldn't mind high restaurant prices so much. Either way, any dinner and (non-alcoholic) drinks that end up being North of $40 for two, and I'm pretty thoroughly annoyed, just because I feel like very few things have that sort of actual value, restaurant-wise.

It could be that they treat the table players well, it could be that it was busy (the slots were really busy in the area I was in most of the time) and it could be that the waitress ignored us on one occasion (no idea, but doubt it) if she had seen how little we were betting.
They were still faster than the first floor of The D, though, but the only place faster than Vintage Vegas was probably Mermaids. Mermaids is a pretty cool little place, in its own right...

It's hard to say, although, I did come up with a really cool trick for that! The first time I'd see a waitress at one of my regular places, both Beth and I would order something, and I would tip her $2.00 before she even went to get it, "Here, hold on a second." It worked wonders for having my first drink brought to me quickly! After that, I'd typically tip $1.00 every time she got either of us something, because we were very rarely done with our drink at the same time.

No, you did, bad memory of my part. I paid each you and Wizard $1 on that one, I think we ended up passing the same bill back and forth a few times, actually.
That's exactly the kind of thing me and my buddies do when we go to the track.
