Vegas is tightening up even more on comps, especially
on the Strip. He said in just the last 2 months the Cosmo
has stopped comping craps play. Even if you lose a
million dollars, no comps. This could be tied to craps taking
a big hit in the last 10 years as a casino money maker.
He did mention Downtown as the place to play if you want
to be treated like a king. $10,000 players get limo's and airfare
and on the Strip now they get diddly. He mentioned Downtown
a bunch of times as the place to play in Vegas now.
has stopped comping craps play."
And still the chumps play. File the above report under " NEVER smarten up a CHUMP ".
Keep us posted.Quote: ahiromuWanted to say that in May I played in Vegas ($50-75 an hour for 12-15 hours rated) and got a 3-day weekend comp at Monte Carlo. Low end, but still MGM. I'll be going in two weeks and talking to a host afterward so we'll see how I'm treated.
Who casino offers the best mailers for playing craps?
I have taken my share of comps over the past years but in my opinion there is a hidden downside to them
For example....I got a 5 night stay at the rio suites.....I felt obligated to play there more than I would normally play since I was getting the rooms there. It actually influenced where I played...and in my opinion selecting the place and table to play is very important. Sometimes your gut feeling proves right and you bypass one venue and play at another.
Over the last 10 years when in vegas, I pay my own way. I am a free agent..i play where I choose, nothing holding me down psychologically to play here or there. no obligations to anyone.
when in reno, I have my own home, so I am not obligated anywhere when playing on a given day. I have food comps available everywhere I play so I am not obligated to a particular venue.
for me this freedom, is extremely important. Alot to a successful gambling day is "timing". Hitting the right machine at the right time. hitting the right craps table at the right time,...etc.....and being psychologically tied to the casino(s) where you are given a free room...limits me in finding that right table/machine at the right time.
I will honstly say that in the past when I DID take the "free" room....the casino got their money back with "interest" They want to get you as a captive audience...and they often succeed to some extent. The free room does indeed influence your play.

While I agree that pressure is definitely part of their intention, I'd say it falls under the category of being your own issue. I find it less guilt-inducing to think of it in financial terms-- they want my money, they're making an investment... and if they want a return, I have to be "feelin' it" that trip or their investment is a loss. Alternatively, they're betting on me... and I don't mind being a losing bet. =D
My mother HATES the action at the Strat, but since she shows a decent amount of action the only time she played there, she gets nights every month. Which meant that over the last few trips, she clocked zero recorded action, other than burning her free play, plus I took them for a few hundred on my own card.

Some incredibly terrible advice in this thread.
Comps only way to come out ahead at craps, unless one is a female whore at the table or you happen to be one of the 8-10 people in the world that know how to control dice throws.Quote: VenthusWhat-- "Don't worry about playing at a place you don't like even if they're giving you a room."?
By the way, the attitude in general of the dealers at the craps tables was atrocious. Talking back, disrespectful, not helpful at all. I asked one dealer at craps (I was very nice and I always tip) if I put the right odds down and he said, "I don't know it isn't my bet"! I raised such hell! I was blown away. Not all but most of the pit bosses had the same poor attitude. It seems these people hate their jobs. Don't get me wrong, there were some good dealers and pit bosses there that were respectful but really for the most part, they were unhappy. Everything else about the Wynn was awesome. All the other employees were great. Sorry for the rant here on this page.

This doesn't surprise me at all. I can't stand dealers at the Wynn. Terrible attitude, yet they have the audacity to b*tch & moan about tips. And what's even more offensive is that these morons make about twice as much as the average American, and they still think they deserve more!
Ironically, dealers at Encore aren't so bad (which is strange since it's basically the same place).

I have an avg of 600 at 4 hrs a day at the Cosmo and have been comped 5 different trips this year. I happen to be way up on them. They are bringing me in RFB for New Years this year. At least I have a reservation there. Don't know if I will be staying there though. So don't know why the radio show host would say that. They obviously haven't stopped craps comps. Im far from a million dollar player. Also, as I said in prev post they count odds in your avg!!
Just an opportunity to slip in this fact. 53% of American workers make less than $30,000 a year.

The median salary for full-time workers in the US is still approximately $40,000 per year. The figure obviously goes down if you include part-time workers, but I do get your point. Dealers who make $80,000+ per year are the last ones who should be b*tching about money.
Quote: BuzzardNow Now, I stand by my figure.
I never said that your figure was wrong. I simply stated that it includes all people, not just full-time workers.
I got 10k points in one day.
1 point = $1 gambled
Note: odds do not count towards points!
god knows how much I put thru the machine if you counted odds.
What comps would I get in Vegas if I played this much on a regular craps table?
Quote: ahiromuI forgot about this thread until I saw it pop up a couple of days ago again. Last I said here, I spent 12-15 hours at $50-75 a day and was offered three nights at Monte Carlo (online offer). I had a bad weekend, so it was closer to 8-10 hours, and my offers have been lowered to weeknights only. I'll be giving NYNY a call, and they can decide if they want me to play there, or downtown, when I head down in March. If I remember, I'll tell you guys how it goes.

I'm gonna guess it's gonna be downtown.
