G2E 2013 is about 10 weeks away. The exhibits run from Tuesday, September 24 through Thursday, September 26. We would like to assemble another lunch for WoV members, and are planning on having it at I ♥ Burgers again. I will try not to ♥ as many Long Island Iced Teas as I did last year, but I'm not making any promises.

Anyone who is planning on attending, please reply to this thread and vote for the day(s) which would work best for you. The prominent theory is that Wednesday will probably be the winner again since Tuesday most people will be busy at the exhibits, and Thursday most people will be pooped.

Here is the current list of confirmed/tentative/possible attendees, in alphabetical order by screen name:

I voted for Wednesday, but will go along with the consensus of the group.

Didn't we do a dinner last year? That seems like a better answer to me, but I will defer to the consensus.

It was either a very late lunch or an early dinner. I changed the title of the thread to say "dinner" instead.

Regarding the link for the free Exhibit badge, the original recipient said it was fine to share but didn't know if there was a limit on how many people could register for free using it. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a limit, so keep an eye on the price to make sure it shows $0.00 before completing the registration. I think the deadline was August 2, after which it is no longer free.

I voted for Wednesday. But then I regretted it, only because I really don't have a preference. I'm in town all week.

What about the venue? As I recall, we chose I • Burgers last year before the Venetian canned Mike. We DID pick a different casino to gamble in afterwards, so why not pick a restaurant where we're also gonna gamble?

I was very happy with I Love Burgers from last year and my preference is to stick with what worked before, but I'm just one vote. It is no big deal to me to walk over somewhere else to play.

It is safe to say that Wednesday it is. The show lets out at 5:00 so I'd suggest we get started about 5:15-5:30. As before, we can start with an hour of drinks and appetizers, and order main courses about 6:30. There is no requirement to show up at any certain time, but by 6:30 would be good, unless you have a flat tire.

Bring your best game for the trivia contest.

Rather than have hundreds of posts about the location, please just say yea, nay, or "I don't care" to I Love Burgers. We already know I'm a yea and DJTB is a nay. What say the rest of you planning to attend? If we get at least 50% yeas (not counting the "I don't care" votes) then I say we go with that. Forgive my bias, but a yea vote will quickly put the matter to rest.

... and DJTB is a nay.

I guess I need to clarify.

I have nothing against I • Burgers (Other than an inability to find the heart key). I just thought that since we're probably going to gamble afterwards, and do it at a casino other than Venetian, that it might be easier to do both at the same location.

As I recall, we somehow lost a few people on the walk from I•B to TI last year.

On the other hand, I had lost a few bucks to the Wizard during Waitress Trivia, and was able to wipe out my debt by performing a physical challenge. So I'm OK either way.

FYI: The physical challenge was to run down an up escalator. I forget if it was a time limit, or just to beat those standing on the down escalator, or just to complete it without having a heart attack (I'm in great shape: round), but I did win the challenge.

And in case anyone is wondering, going down the up escalator is harder than up the down escalator.

I'm not 100% sure if I'm going this year but any time/place is fine with me.

And in case anyone's wondernig, escalators are very dangerous places to play in. Grown men who do it ought to be arrested and tried for reckless endangerment. Or pushed down the up escalator and see how they like it.

Isn't bumping against some sort of commandment here? I am commencing a citizens arrest. 3 days in the hole. You can be out in 5 minutes though if you have good behavior. Time starts now.

I noticed that too, but JB provided a reminder about the schedule, so I think that excuses him. The rule is that you can't just thumbtack and provide nothing new to say. Even telling a joke, or something on the history of the Roman Empire, will suffice.

Maybe JB will voluntarily offer to do 10 push-ups, to remove all doubt about being above the rules.

I thought accident/injury and ambulance chaser lawyers only counted as 1/2 a person... Had one show up to my house being on fire when I was a kid. It was not even put out yet. 1/2 a person might be being too kind.

I can attest to the danger of this. Unlike Wizard who does this for sport, I did this once out of necessity. One day we were going up an escalator at City Center, and my mother in law was left behind on the ground. She has hip problems and needs help getting on an escalator. I felt like it was rude of us to leave her stuck on the bottom, so I proceeded to go back down to get her. I tripped and ended up at the ER at Desert Springs Hospital (great way to spend a family trip in Vegas). So while Wizard does this for $20, you'd have to pay me a lot of money to try this again.
