All patrick followers are welcome to respond to my thoughts. You cannot respond directly to me on GG(the only other site I have posted in the past since they cannot accomodate new people) and if you respond to me on patricks site you can hade behind your grand-daddy SINCE HE WILL DELETE MY RESPONSE TO YOU.
So here you can be fair and comment with the understanding that a response will ensue. Something you are not used to.

So tell me patrick followers.

Patrick claimed he was on 4-5 radio shows per week. He claimed this a year ago. Then hjust a few montths ago he said he never claimed that. When his own words were put in front of him....he then said he remembered and he was indeed on 4-5 shows per week.

So..if he is telling the truth:

why has there never been a person come on his board with a follow up question from his radio appearance? Do people make reference on his board "hey mr patrick , I just heard you on the radio and have a follow up question". You would think he would promote his website when he makes all those appearances/

why doesnt he promote those 5 weekly appearances. The more people that read that he is going to be on locally...the more people will listen, and the more people who might buy products from hiswebsite or from bookstores, or from amazon if they like what they hear.

also, many radio shows are archived, and people can research and listen, and maybe get hooked on his theories and buy his products.

it seems like it would be in his best interest to use his website as free advertising for his many many appearances

At the time of his claim...the poster, LaPrimary Follower....ASKED PATRICK TO LIST HIS RADIO STATIONS....BUT HE WAS IGNORED.

So followers.....IS HE CONNING US?

he calls himself a conman, he tells us stories how he has conned people at the race track, at the poker table, at the hotel check in desk,

is this just another one?

And if it is....how do you choose what you will believe.

Patrick doesnt alow free exchange of ideas on his board, so its only fitting that the discussions that I would have had on that board end up being posted on a more popular board with more readers. So I will start a topic for discussion,

Patrick claims and builds his theories on the basis that the long run and house edge doesnt apply to him because he only plays in the short run. Over the last 50 years he claims he never played in the long run and therefore he has escaped the long run expectations. He decalres the same applies to his followers.

The question I have for his followers is.....WHAT PROOF DOES PATRICK SHOW THAT BACKS UP THIS CLAIM.

Dont give me anecdotal storeis. Give me scientific evidence.

dont tell me that the definition of the "long run" is a billion hands and no one plays a billion hands. If you do...please post the link showing that the long run starts at a billion. That is your made up nonsnese....please stick to facts and proof.

its nice to declare something....but please show me the proof that patrick provides that makes you believe this

I know his lifestyle living in lutz florida, relegated to gambling illegally and not having the funds to visit vegas is not indicative of "success"...so you cant point to his great lifestyle as proof his declarations are valid. He often refers to where he lives as "hades". Is this the life that a patrick follower aspires to?

Also he has claimed with his new improved BS for BJ....he has brought the vig down to zero. Please provide proof of this declaration.

I am the only one who asks for proof. Its a valid way to go. Its not up to me to prove him wrong. He makes the declaration...he has the burdon of proof.

On his board, calmly asking for proof labels one a "math boy"......and a dismissal via deletion or banning.

fair enough

but over here there is no such deletion option

Patrick has to put up or shut up. Or at least his followers have to put up or shut up.

all I ask to start are those 2 simple questions. Proof of the long run not applying, and proof that his new BS is not only improvent on the standard BS...but actually brings the vig to zero.

Is there basis to these 2 declarations...or is it just a house of cards built on a foundation of stale yougert.

Yes, probably, but Patrick is irrelevant these days. He's not doing speaking gigs, he's not on the radio, so he's just another chump author out there. Until he raises his head here, why not leave him alone? I swear he gets more press from one or two people attacking him than he gets by his own witterings on his own board.

I see that LarryS has started three threads about John Patrick in the last week or so. Let this be a public warning to not start any more. I'd like to think that most members of this forum already know that John Patrick is a quack and not very interested to talk about him.

Any new threads about Patrick started by LarryS will be cause for suspension. Please try me. I'm in a foul mood and eager to ban somebody.

In keeping on topic, my suspicion is you are right. He is not on radio, or doing seminars at least not in the quantity that he crows about. He however is not retired. He has theories and declarations that may or may not lose people money. He sells a sports service that may or may not lose people money. In my opinion its worth discussion. You may feel its not worth discussion. Thats fine. I feel its worth discussing, you dont. So in a free world you can dismiss this thread and never read on, and I can continue to have the discussion. As long as I am courteous to people who tell me to go away and explain that I would rather not....then its clear I am not going anywhere...and this adlult discussion will continue with your blessing or without. Again this thread isnt a discussion as to whether I should discuss this topic. I am not asking for permission or for your approval.
So i do agree with your opinion on the radio appearances, and seminars. But I dont really care about your approval or dissaproval of the topic.

I respect your right to suspend or delete just I do of patrick on his site.

If you notice the comments on the 2 other threads have been deleted due to the flaming of evenbob and aces on off topic subjects..attachking me rather than discussing the topic. I deleted them an hour ago and moved them to this thread as even bob and aces seem to want to be a board monitor rather than dscuss a topic.
I follow your wishes and not post another thread on this topic

However I ask that the massive posts by evenbob telling me not to post on this topic cease.

I changed my mind, lets talk about JP. I like his
stories about Vegas in the early 60's. How he used
the Marty to play 10 cent roulette for weeks and
was ahead and thought he had it made and the
bottom fell out over night. I like Patrick's old
Vegas stories, he's a dying breed. Literally.

I have a lot of admiration for JP, he's been there
and done it. He came up thru the ranks. Agree
with him or not, he's the real thing. He's written
books and had a TV show, and he's all over Amazon.
I like the guy personally, even tho I don't agree with
all his techniques.

I personally think you are being generous not issuing the suspension yet.

But there is also good news, LarryS, I think everyone on this forum generally agrees with you!! :D Any true Patrick believers would immediately get chewed a new one here. Basic Strategy is blackjack has clearly been studied/solved.

Quote: Ibeatyouraces

I read one of his bj books and if you can skip the rediculousness of his "strategy" it wasn't that bad.

I wouldn't doubt this either, as is 90-whatever% percent of Rob Singer's VP strategy. But both of these are "solved games". A certain strategy is better than the rest...so...um, use the best strategy!

I have a lot of admiration for JP, he's been there
and done it. >>>

do you admire it when he talks about conning people at poker with an accomplice

do you admire that after all those years playing perfectly(according to him) and all the money from his day jobs of tv, books, and sports service....he can afford to live in what he refers to as "hades", relegated to gambling illegally at underground casinos, and not regularly going to vegas or the like which he says he craves.

do you admire how he pathetically glows about being on 5 radio shows a week, but no one can figure out where

do you admire how he talked about seminars he gives, some with over 200 people? but people from all those seminars dont seem to go on his board and talk about being there or ask follow up questions. I guess you can admire that he is so thorough at the seminars that there are never any follow up questions needed.

do you admire how he protects his house of cards theories by deleting people just for content.

do you admire he admits to putting out incorrect info about BJ in his first book just so he could satisfy the wishes of a publisher?

He does have the gift of gab. He can be very engaging in public. Except when it comes to the internet, a wink and a smile dont seem to go as far. You have to get by with real factual working info. So yes a wink and a smile works on a tv show for a while, till that show lost support. But a wink and a smile doesnt hold much water on the internet. As far as tv, he was in the right place at the right time in NJ when gambling first started.

thats what must be so frustrating for him. All his life he coud get by with his gift of gab, and a wink and a smile. Then someone like me comes along and asks specific questions that cant be sidestepped with a storey about selling ice cream, or diverting attention to whats in his other hand. So the real nasty side of him emerges. The show biz side retreats, and his real self emerges.

something to be admired. I cant fault you.

I think if you follow JP's methods, you simply lose less. That's not a bad thing.

Less than basic strategy? Or less because you play less?

via blackjack? I would like to see this in more detail if so.

I fully admit that I only play 1 coin at VP to minimize hourly loss, even though on a percentage basis, it is the worse play than the max bet. But I have never seen that scenario exist for blackjack.

Gentlemen: It doesn't change the negative ev In fact hedging increases it. But the actions lower your bets, therefore lower your losses. This concept excites the uneducated masses, therefore he still has a few followers.

Personally I dunno what this guy preaches, so this doesn't help me much. :( But no way I am looking this up tonight, I should have probably been in bed about 2 hours ago. :-\ Hedging doesn't sound like a very good idea though. :-\

Gotcha, you say his methods make for lower action overall than flat betting (which is all you can ever compare to). I certainly didn't get that from his Craps book.

His sporting bets tips are some of the most labyrinthine pages of woo-woo I've ever seen. I am sure it makes sense to someone out there, though.

he has claimed that his new improved BS brings the vig in BJ down to zero. I thought that was such an incredible claim that I asked for proof. After all if it were really true, his face would be on the front cover of every gambling magazine...as well as on newsweek and Time.

I was hoping that a follower of his would come here and educate us with proof.

I have not even seen proof that his new improved BS is even slightly better than the standard BS....let alone so much better to bring the vig to zero.

Heck if it were true...i would imagine every casino would close down their BJ tables....or at lest change the payouts.

still waiting for his supporters to respond.
He has every right to post whatever he wants on his board....and people have every right to admire the way he is so brave bashing others while at the same time not giving them a chance to respond. Some admire cowardice. Its a free country.

Oh yes,,he is such a brave man,,,,seemingly not taking any crap from anyone. Easy to do when you have your finger on a delete button. Its easy to be very very brave. Its easy to give the impression that when you speak, your words are so powerfull..no one will answer. Not really the case....the delete button shows him to be more of the cowardly lion...just looking for a grain of courage.

They won't.

Quote:

It isn't. Basic Strategy is optimal given a top-of-the-deck composition. That's the whole point. For any given set of player cards and dealer upcard, there is exactly one optimal play. Basic Strategy is *defined* as the collection of those optimal plays for all combinations of player cards and dealer upcards. Any change is necessarily suboptimal. Therefore, whatever the allegedly "new improved BS" is, it is actually worse than real Basic Strategy.

n.b. I assume "BS" in your quote means Basic Strategy. If it instead means what it normally means, it's entirely possible for BS to be new and improved. That's often what sells gambling books.

Is it your intent to recruit those supporters to join this forum so you can argue with them here?

It is my intent to have the conversation with them that patrick wouldnt allow on his board for fear that his house of cards comes tumbling down.

so when I was no longer allowed to post or respond on patricks board due to deletions...and went to GG...it was cumbersome because that board doesnt support new members...and patrick followers responded to me on the patrick board with no response allowed by me. And I responded on the GG board with no response allowed to them .

So here we are...they have freedom to stand on their own 2 feet and not depend on grandpa to protect them with deletions.

am I going to argue with them as you put it?

nope/// JUST a friendly debate.

other can choose to avoid this thread...others may join in.

I dont need to gain permission from wannabe board monitors.

all that counts is that mr Wizard thinks its a fair topic.

Has anyone notified the minions over there that there is now an open forum for polite conversation?

LarryS, I gotta ask - What's your end game?

I've followed your posting on GG for quite a bit now. Your points made will find no argument from me. I think a vast majority of people, pretty much everyone sans the very few faithful followers on Patrick's board, see him as sort of a kook as far as gaming goes. Even before I came here for my education, I saw what he put out and could only think "wtf?", and I'm no brainiac...

I guess I see a guy (Patrick) who has very little influence and almost no clout, I believe that the majority likewise see him that way, and I can't understand your crusade.

It's like you're killing yourself trying to singlehandedly sink the Titanic, when everyone knows with complete certainty that it's already going down, all on its own.
