I have a betting strategy that I want to tell you about. The main aspect of my strategy is what I call "When to quit". My observation is that luck runs. If your luck is running, you should double up your bets and double again. If your luck is not running, you should quit.
If more gamblers followed my advice, I think that everyone could have more fun.
I am not a real gambler. I have only been to Vegas once. The first time that I went to Vegas, I won $385. Let me tell you how I did it.
I was in Vegas for seven days. I gambled every day. Every night, when I was ready to gamble, I took my stake, $100, and I put it on an even money bet on the roulette wheel.
If I won, $200 was my stake for the evening. If I lost, I was done.
If your luck is running, you should gamble. If your luck is not running, you should not.
I think that everyone should at least try my system. I highly endorse it, and I think that it will work for anyone, for any amount of money. If you are ready to lose $50,000, then put it all on an even money bet. If you win, then go for broke. If you lose, then hit the Jacuzzi. And just imagine the table action!
Trust me: when you lay down a large bet at the roulette wheel, even $100, it is a blast. Everyone notices. Win or lose, you get a lot of chat. When you win, it is a big deal. Everyone wants to talk to you. It is a real gambling charge.
I don't have the courage to do what I call the trifecta, which would be three even money roulette bets in a row. But really, if your luck is running, you should easily be able to do it. In my example with $100, if you bet three even money bets in a row and win, you have $800. You could stop right there, but my advice would be that your luck is running and you should double up your bets.
One last thing. When I was in Vegas, on the nights that I won, I left the blackjack table and sat at the video poker bar. I placed the minimum bet and got comped all of my drinks. I just did it to calm down from winning and see if I could continue my streak. One night I won another $70 playing video poker on minimum bets. Once again, luck runs.

What the hell kind of advice is this?
Quote: Jarhed214I am not a real gambler.
OK, now everything makes sense.
WHY? There are a heck of a lot of double-zero wheels in Las Vegas and lightning never seems to strike any of the people playing them. Though I do know of one couple whose limousine got struck when they were celebrating their win.Quote: teddysIf you are doing an even money roulette bet for $100, you should at least do it on a single-zero wheel.
1. Bet when you're going to win.
2. Don't bet when you're not going to win.

Quote: sodawaterSo basically your advice boils down to:
1. Bet when you're going to win.
2. Don't bet when you're not going to win.
The tricky part is knowing which is which.
In my book, I'll explain which gambler's fallacy to exploit so that you can tell the difference. Anybody got $20 dollars burning a hole in their pocket?
Quote: Jarhed214Hi Michael, thank you very much for your website. I think that you provide a great public service, and anyone who wants to lay down a bet should read and understand your site thoroughly first.

I guess your strategy is just as good as any. You do seem to have some discipline.
Should you be telling others to do the trifecta as you call it when you won't do it yourself?
Welcome to the forum Jarhed214!
This all made me think back about all that not sure why. Who knows Possibly someone is just messing with us.
Of course he made sure to include his love for "Michael" and this forum so any personal bashing would be frowned upon more so then someone more controversial or confrontational. Lending to the fact a few people have stated some of the members here are a bit unfriendly to newbs who have unpopular opinions.
Quote: AxelWolfYears ago there we what we called credit hustlers all around. These guys actually made a living at this(not a good one of course) They had regular routes up and down the strip that included special machines they checked often like Flip It. Some machines had special crevices that coins would get stuck in. They had many tricks, It really was an art form. A few of these guys went onto become very successful AP's. This was a cat and mouse game between the credit hustlers and a few uptight security guards who hated these guys (rightly so). I'm aware this may be illegal and vulturous, but many of these guys were in fact helpful and nice to me. Some of them not so much niceness and they were definitely fleabags "LITERALLY" Anyways, some of the security guards would often bait the hustlers by planting credits on the machines to find new or catch and mess with some of the more sneaky, notorious hustlers.

Feeling a little paranoid today, AxelWolf?
Quote: skrbornevryminThe OP makes me laugh at myself a little. Back when I first started gambling, I thought that I had invented the martingale strategy. I was pretty proud of myself too. Those were the days.
Welcome to the forum Jarhed214!
I also remember inventing the martingale... Or so I thought. Played at a $5-$500 limit table. There is no way I could lose 7 times in a row right? I literally got busted within the first two hours of my awesome strategy
I was shocked, dismayed and broken hearted. Back to the drawing board....... then i re-discovered the d"alembert progression....

This is similar to dating advice I use to give:
1. Be attractive.
2. Don't be unattractive.
What he doesn't say, which is perhaps obvious, is what I said: luck runs. If your luck is running, you should double up. If your luck is not running, you should quit.
That is the essence of my betting strategy. If all Vegas gamblers followed my advice, everyone could have some fun and everyone could win, including the casinos. You have to make a few bets to determine if your luck is running, right?
My daddy devised an elaborate craps betting strategy back in the 1960's. Read Michael: betting strategies are crap. My betting strategy is one that anyone can use and have fun with. If you are losing, QUIT! If you are winning DOUBLE UP!
Anyway, thanks for the comments, I appreciate them.

Exactly. One zero two zeroes, for my strategy, neither matters. Put down an (almost) even money bet and see what happens. Win, gamble. Lose, don't. It is very simple.

What you say is a tautology. Of course gamblers should adjust their bets according to the table action. I am suggesting a system which informs a gambler if he or she should even gamble at all. Surely you can see the value in that.
