Returned from Vegas late last week, but had to go right back to my business and didnt have time to post any comments. Here are some brief reviews of my trip and of locations I visited, and played.
Stayed at Paris in a Calais Suite based on my wives slot play Diamond status. Host is great at Paris and covers everything but she did earn 6000 Tier Points or 30K through the machines. This is more than she usually earns, but she did take pictures of some nice wins. Yea, I know, you tell her.
I played a lot of craps at Paris and Flamingo. Ran into someone on Saturday night who must be a student of Aaron as he made point after point and I lost 1K quickly that night. I only play Dark Side and made that loss up and more over the course of the trip. Multiple plus $100 to $300 sessions made Overall Craps was plus 300 for the trip.
BJ was not as good to me anywhere I played. Usually played at the Double Deck table at the end of the Chinese section at Paris and had bad luck on larger hands and doubles. It happens, but I lost all the Craps money and more.
Went to Ellis Island and played low level BJ mainly for the free Heffe Beers. Noticed the Pit Boss watching closely when any Green Chips are played. Although he didnt have much else to do. Never played more than $50 a hand there and walked away up a little over $200, plus multiple free beers.
Went to a concert at Hard Rock and played solo BJ at a $25 table for 2 hours and lost $75. Very nice dealer who had some good stories about how much of an ahole Floyd Mayweather is when he comes in to play. Worth the loss for the stories.
Overall gambling was about a $500 loss. Wife lost a little more (That I know of), but with the comp room and food, it wasnt a bad trip overall. I am not an AP, though I try to make the right plays to minimize the House Edge. I need to stick to Craps more next time, though that could turn as well.
Drank some cheap beers at Stage Door and people watched. I think the smell of the place is still on me.
The work they are doing on the Quad casino is a huge improvement, but there was no 3/2 BJ being played the afternoon I walked through. Dealertainers are where their focus is with the customer not worried about the 6/5.
Beer Lovers really should visit the Public House at The Venetian for a great craft beer selection.
Overall a great time and I am ready to go back.

Love stopping in the stage door, although it gets sketchier late night we found. What kind of craft beers at the Venetian? Local or west coast? I'm heading out with some Minnesota folk in a few months, and we are craft fans. How much as well? Thanks for the report.

Yes, I'd like to know this as well. If it's "good enough" I might bother to pay for it...but public house is off the gaming floor correct?
And looking at the Public House menu/prices, I would rather try to get the best beer I could comped while gambling for ~cheap. I got Sierra Nevada Torpedo at the Venetian Sports Bar while short playing a quarter machine in Feb. 2012. Also chatted up a MILF at the time while on a solo trip, but being in a LTR, guilt got to me on closing the deal...bah.

I try to avoid being wedded to the Dark Side, I merely favor it.
Perhaps The Venetian comps some of those beers from the Public House?

What were the rules and penetration of the double deck games that you played? Does that Paris game still forbid double after split?
Did Floyd Mayweather actually play with that Hard Rock dealer and what exactly did the dealer say about him? Did the dealer talk about anyone else?

Public House has some of the best craft beers in Vegas, but they are not cheap. Most drafts are $8-$11 each. They always have something from the Bruery on draft, a nice Cask like Lagunitas Sucks, a couple locals like Big Dogs or Tenaya Creek, a higher alcohol selection from Uinta, something from Squatters and other high end stuff. To me I dont mind paying these prices for quality stuff and budget a visit here on each visit. Matt is a great bartender and knows his beers. It's not for everyone, but you will find unique brews.
The Paris game is not the best and still no double after split, but it beats most CZR games and under $100 games on the strip. I understand the House Edge, but I also play for enjoyment and this is the table I like best. No full time AP would be seen playing there though.
As for Floyd, she stated he comes in often to play and never says a word, and has his handlers speak for him and order him drinks. She said the dealers were told not to try and converse with him. She also stated he does lose alot, doesnt even play basic strategy and never tips.

Heffe or Leffe? Leffe would be a good comp; almost enough to get me to play at Ellis Island...:)Quote: BozWent to Ellis Island and played low level BJ mainly for the free Heffe Beers.

No it is their own Heffeweisen beer. Actually a decent beer along with their Amber. The IPA is weak though.
