my local casino just started turning the cards before putting them in the shuffer in pai gow poker, and acutally now in every other game
whats the issue here as to why the sudden change?

in pai gow?you can only see the top card? that cant mean anything edge wise

They're only turning half the cards, right?

There might not be any advantage play to it in Pai Gow, but it's probably easier to train the dealers to do the turn on all games.

Quite a few game protection experts have been preaching the "turn" recently. Card safety was a hot topic at Willy Allison's World Game Protection Conference in February. For many casinos, it is common to not have a turn for their proprietary games even when their shuffle for blackjack includes a turn. A couple of proprietary games have been hit hard recently, so "include a turn" has become a mantra.
