Did you ever see John and Kate plus 8?
first 2 ep's. It'll be good for a laugh if nothing else..
Quote: hook3670South Point had a show like that and I think it lasted six episodes. Were they cancelled or did they just get tired of doing the show?
I remember the South Point show and I thought it was an interesting look behind the scenes.
Quote: tringlomaneJust finished watching. Looks quite scripted/fake, more so than most "reality" shows. I may bother to watch again though.
Is this the same show they were filming last year? When I was playing Binions Classic they were being nosy in the games. They tried to film a dispute but the players made a big deal that cameras were there and ruined their potential scene.

Likely so, these first two episodes covered a bit of action during the Binion's classic. One scene was the poker manager being stupid enough to try to get one of the Binion's cowgirls to deal the tourney within a ~day...lol
I think it was quite fake. I think that "KIM" was hired as a poker dealer from the get go and their parading her around from BJ to CW to Poker was pure Hollywood. No training?
I don't know if those were fake showgirls who stand around the street for photographs or what.
Darn right you don't put "suits" in day glow tee shirts just to get a youthful crowd. Suits are suits and belong in suits.
I guess as far as most "reality" shows go, this was about as "reality" as many of them are. Most of those supervisors would never have made it to a supervisory level if they kept making such poor decisions. Just a focus on "entertainment" with a casino flavor to it, not reality at all.
young girls off the street to be dealers. An hour of instruction
and she's in a live BJ game and fails miserably. She tries
being a waitress and can't remember the drink orders. So
she tells the manager she watched her dad play poker at
home with his buddies, so he puts her is a live game and
gee, she's an automatic pro. Set up nonsense.
Total bullshit show, its setup to appeal to the under 30 crowd,
all the dealers are girls in their early 20's and I maybe saw
3 players who were over 30. The best was two Binions 'execs'
were riding in a cab on the Strip and one says 'You know, I'm
really tired of losing all our business to the Strip. We need to
get people back Downtown.' Like this just dawned on him. They
might have had that conversation in 1965, in 2013 it sounded
ridiculous.

Frankly, it causes me to lose respect for Binions. To take a dice dealer and throw her into a poker game is one thing. To do it for training purposes, one day before a major tournament, that's just disrespectful of the players.
That is one reason I don't think it really happened quite that way.Quote: DJTeddyBearthat's just disrespectful of the players.
Quote: MathExtremistThe die in the logo is wrong...
They just show one of the Masked Man's dice he's been talking about ... biased by having more 4 and 3 sides [g]
I think I'm on episode 8 or 9 but I'm interested to see how it turns out.
Quote: DJTeddyBearThis show was filmed in the summer of 2011. There wee 10 episodes, and it originally aired in Canada.

I feel the same, I liked Binions but this seemed like they are trying too hard to gain publicity in the worst way. I wonder if they think we are stupid and think that this stuff really goes on, and make us want to go to Binions.

Its not Binion's, its the people who produce these
shows that come up with the stupid ideas.
Cable audiences are profitable. Why? I've no idea. Thats just the way it is.

Cable audiences are profitable. Why? I've no idea. .
Reality TV watchers on cable are generally very gullible.
All reality shows are faked, with very few exceptions.
It far too expensive to just follow people around with
a camera and hope they do something interesting.
The audience is the recreational gambler tuning into a Vegas Reality Show to find out what "Really happens behind the scenes" and the next time they plan a trip to Vegas with their group of friends they will at least think about checking out downtown if they don't actually stay there. This group also is glued to the Kardashians, Housewives of ??? and Sister Wives, etc.
It may not work for the vast majority of us Forum Members, but some in this group go to Vegas (there is a Kardashian Shop at The Mirage for crying out loud) and I would put money on the fact that Binion's gets some incremental business that more than justifies the costs of time taken to film the show.
Quote: rainmanThe show was dull and uneventful. It sucked. But dammit I'm gonna watch every episode its Vegas Baby!
It was beyond dull, it was sophomoric and silly.
I bet its only downhill from here. That was the
worst Elvis I ever saw. Some short 25 year old
with kind of Elvis hair and a sequined jumpsuit.
He looked or sounded nothing like E, it was
embarrassing.
Yeah, I thought it was dumb. The lead girl should've been fired.
There was a funny situation that came up with one of the dealers while I was sitting with Nevada GCB at my new game. I'll be interested to see if they edit that part as it was definitely R rated.
Quote: YouCanBetOnThatHas the show been pulled? It's no longer showing up in any online TV listings (including TLC's).
Its not even on TLC's site anymore, its been sucked into the
abyss. Just as well..
show after just one night. It was aired in Canada last year so
its on the web somewhere, if you really want to see all of it.
