Playing? Benny Binion used to have a blind man sitting Box...
he scheduled him along with a sighted man who was deaf ... between those two boxmen they didn't miss a thing!
The base dealer gave him stacks at his buy in and told him what
they were, he kept them seperated in the rails.
I didn't get to stay long to see how he did. A lot of craps
is mental anyway. It seemed interesting to me.
Good for him.
No humor intended but I think with a little cooperation
he probably could have thrown the dice?

Quote: vendman1I've seen a blind man at both Caesars and Bally's AC..he has a woman with him whom I think is his wife. I've seen him 3 or 4 times. Seems to be a pretty regular player. Plays BJ at a green chip level...she tells him what he has exactly As,4h, and the dealers up card. Then he tells her hit; stand; double etc. She handles the chips.
True love right there.
I frequently play with a quadraplegic player at The Bike here in Los Angeles who has an aid who picks up the cards, carefully shows them to the player, and moves the chips accordingly according to the aural bet of the player. Again, no advice can be offered.
One time, the aid (by the way, they are always attractive young gals) for this particular player at The Bike had to make a restroom run, and a player next to him who was not in the hand picked up the cards for him, and moved the chips... taking care himself not to look at the player's cards.
Quote: JohnzimboMy best buddy is legally blind, he only has some slight peripheral vision left. He likes video poker and can play by himself but he has to get his good eye about 3 inches from the screen and then move his head to see each individual card. When we play together I usually just tell him which cards to hold by position, e.g. "1,3" means he holds the first and third cards. We have developed some slang to speed thing up..."Book" means to hold 1 and 5 since they are "bookends" and "toss 4" means hold 1,2,3 and 5. This usually means he was dealt four to a straight or flush, or two pair. Since the machine dings when dealt a winning hand, if I tell him to toss one card he knows he has two pair dealt but likes to ask me "4 of a kind dealt?" Our last time in Vegas he actually was dealt 4 of a kind, I told him to "toss 3", he asked if he had gotten 4 of a kind dealt and I couldn't wait to tell him "yeah"
would be great to once have to tell him a royal was dealt.

True story, maybe a year or so ago, he was in Vegas solo staying at Palace Station. My ex-wife and ex-in-laws were also in Vegas that weekend staying downtown. My ex arrived in town and went to a vp machine while her parents checked into their room, and she called me to tell me she had gotten a dealt royal on the first machine she sat down at. About an hour later I called my buddy and told him this, and he was at a vp machine himself. About ten minutes later he calls me back and I can hear a machine making a lot of noise...he had bet max of course (5 quarters) and the machine started making the noise. Took him about ten seconds to figure out that he had gotten his first ever dealt royal.
The strange thing was that the blind man wanted to play the six and eight for $10 each roll. The dealer tried to explain that he should bet $12 on each number, but the blind man wouldn't have it since it would give him white chips, and he only wanted to be paid in red. So even money it was. He also played the pass line and the hard ways, red chip payout only.
He was eventually asked to leave by security after about two hours. He got very drunk and was yelling profanities and creating a ruckus. The dealer told me he comes by about once a month.

I dealt to a blind player a number of years ago on Blackjack, announcing each hand to him: "Sir, you have a soft 18 against my dealer's 10..." - "Hit!" etc...

If the machine has good enough audio, he wouldn't have to tell him. It would go "ding", auto-hold the hand, and immediately start accumulating credits; only hands with the max possible win do that. It's an awesome experience. :) When the dealt Royal happened to me all I could keep saying to myself is "Holy Shit." My only Royal in Vegas and definitely a memory that will keep me wanting to come back. :)
Would a device that scans and "reads aloud" (via headphones), a blind poker player's cards be allowed at the table?
A very good BJ tournament lady player, Virginia, played at Hilton $1M game several years ago. She had a reader next to her. She made to the finale once and appeared on Discovery channel.Quote: 100xOddswas at md Live casino.

The question must be asked.....should the blind person get the boot for card counting? Maybe not a hero but nevertheless blind......Quote: IbeatyouracesGreat card counting ploy. Act as if you're blind with her only mouthing your cards and the dealers as you secretly count.

Yeah, I remember seeing her on TV as well.

Was it a bonus game? Because if it wasn't you should have told him to hold all five.
