Quote: treetopbuddyAnyway, while losing money at the Cincy Horseshoe a dealer told me that a known card counter had been busted by Facial Recognition Technology.
Why would surv tell the dealer this, and why
in god's name would he tell you. This is inner
casino info, not dispensable to the general
public. My guess is he was BS'ing you.

No motivation to BS me as near as I could tell.....I had overheard the conversation between two dealers and asked....what's up, and a young Baccarat dealer quietly told me the story. Alot of the dealers at the Cincy casino are fresh out of the training school. The story was believable but who knows.Quote: EvenBobWhy would surv tell the dealer this, and why

Are card counters that big a threat to casino's? As I remember Scarne welcomed card counters to a casino where he was a consultant.. He reported no change in the drop/takeout. Sometimes I feel like casinos will spend a million to save a hundred.
And while that Dealer is standing there at minimum wage and doing his "Dummy Up and Deal" routine what other goings on in the casino did they tell him about?
Now waiting until the known card counter was down 700 and then kicking him out? That I can believe.
6 deck shoe.
Gee, I wonder why Lilly Belle's closed in less than a year and is still closed today ?

No casino sweats the money like one that knows its
closing in a few months. When I got barred from
the Klondike in Vegas it closed 3 months later. And
all I was doing was winning, not counting.

Scarne's great skill was in convincing casino managers that he knew what he was talking about. He had great self confidence but was bad at math and his calculations almost always resulted in wrong answers. He once challenged Thorp to a showdown at blackjack and took Thorp's refusal as proof that he was right. Of course Thorp refused! Scarne was a magician and an expert card manipulator. He could have dealt Thorp any hand he wanted.
Card counters are a big threat to casinos! Read about the MIT blackjack team. A movie was made about them in 2008. Its title is "21."

Card Counters counting basic blackjack are almost no threat at all. There are probably less than 100 people in the Country that can make a living counting Blackjack and not get caught. You have a better chance of making money and not getting caught counting side bets than regular blackjack.

Exactly correct. The really knowledgeable, 'true' casino people, like yourself and Zender have all come to the same conclusion. Unfortunately, casinos are no longer run by real 'casino people', they are run by bean counters. In trying to preventing low and mid-level counters from winning any money, these bean counters spend a dollar for every penny they think they prevent from being won.
Quote:SALEM, Ore. — An Indiana man who fled his home state after being suspected of molesting a 10 year old girl in 1999 has been arrested in Salem, according to the FBI.
Charles Hollin, 61, was arrested at his job at a Walmart on Tuesday after fleeing the central Indiana area 17 years ago.
It was facial recognition software used by the FBI that found Hollin. The FBI in December confirmed a "most likely" facial match of Hollin with Andrew David Hall, the alias he had been using in Salem, according to a complaint affidavit provided by the FBI. Hollin, as Hall, applied for a U.S. passport in 2007 to travel to China
Quote:Within four months of the kidnapping and molestation incident, Hollin obtained an $80,000 home equity loan and applied for an Indiana driver’s license under the name of Andrew David Hall. Hall was an 8-year-old boy who died in a car crash in Kentucky in 1975.
