As most of you know - I will be at the Revel in AC!!!
Quote: mwalz9The Meadows in PA.
What's your game?
I guess I will stay home and drink.
Quote: MakingBookI thought about going to Hollywood Columbus, but figured the the limits will be at too high ($50 & up), and likely too crowded to backcount.
I guess I will stay home and drink.
Have a shot of Tequila for me
I then make my way upstairs and play craps. I pretty much bet a minimum bet on the DP and back it with max odds. Occasionally placing the 6 or 8.
Those are the 2 games I play the most. I can also be talked into other games like BJ, 3CP or Caribbean Stud if my buddies want to play those, but I wont throw serious money at any of those games. I just use the Wizard's strategy on the 3 of them and make minimum bets.

I will....actually, I'll have one right now too!
Have fun in AC!
Quote: RogerKintThe same way I spend every NYE - drinking virgin apple cider with my twice-widowed mother.
Have fun in AC!
Roger - read my trip reports as I will begin reporting on Dec. 30th. You can enjoy the ride as I attempt to end the year in the positive (and post some pics along the way)
I hit the strip last NYE, just to see what it all was about. Having done Times Square one NYE a few years ago, I just wanted to experience the strip on NYE. But, I have been there and done that now, so if I had my way, I would stay home this NYE. BUT, my brother is visiting and he is 21, so I'll be out there fighting the crowds with him, trying to have a good time.
Quote: mipletI'll be working that night. It's our busiest overnight of the year. Normaly there are 3 or 4 of us on Monday night. There are 8 scheduled that night.
If it is not confidential - what do you do?
Quote: rainmanMy plan is to be at the mirage implementing a new A-play I've been working on for 2-years.

If the craps treats me well on Sunday night, may splurge for the Eifel tower champagne toast/view.
Otherwise, probably be in middle of Las Vegas Blvd, just so I can say I did it.
PS. I'll be the guy holding up his camera phone over his head to take pics. LOL
And asking not for whom the bell tolls.
at home. Kids will be doing Dance Dance Revolution
in the basement, or watching a DVD.
Quote: winmonkeyspit3I'll be at Turning Stone Casino in Upstate NY. Prime people watching!
Make sure to give us some reports (and photos if you can of the characters)
Quote: iluvdisco33I must be an oddball here because I'm taking my WIFE out to dinner and a local NYE party at another restaurant. Neither place is in a casino, I won't be getting drunk, and I won't care what my buddies are doing at all.
Probably just an age difference. I don't know how old Ace is but I just finished undergrad and I'm single.

I was going to ask if your place was in Las Vegas, but figured it is not since you have to close at 2am?

8 scheduled: 1 had a family emergcy and 1 was sick. I didn't have a close look at sales, but they weren't as high as projected. If anyone want more details, just let me know.
I really felt like a wimp as I watched the micro minis walking by, some without so much as a jacket. Although I am pretty sure many of them had the benefit of alcohol numbness, which I did not.
Side topic: How DO they even sit down in those micro minis? I swear if I was 5' 4", instead of 5' 10", my viewing angle would be looking directly at their underwear..., assuming of course that they actually had some on.............
I was expecting total street closure, with pedestrians being able to walk from one side of the blvd to the other. After seeing the setup though, I realized how dumb I had been. They have steel barricades blocking the inner most lanes, and the median, from the crowd. This was where the police were most notable, although I am fairly certain I spotted a number of plain clothes mixed in the throngs of people walking by us. Spent a few minutes chatting with one officer about their presence and just general crowd control tactics.
The fireworks best visible to us, went off the top of PH. As I looked around, it appeared that the fireworks were going off from at least 6 casinos, and all of them were firing the same shell, so the displays were the same. What I found amazing was seeing, and feeling, the concussion from the PH shell, but then also hearing and feeling the concussion from Cesaer's, Cosmo, Venetian, TI (not really sure what the other hotels were, other than PH and Cesaers). Visually watching the show, and hearing and feeling it, as if it was in 3D. It was a memory.
Once the fireworks show ended, all of us headed to the nearest casino. Well, not really, since we all wanted to go to a different casino. The key was, we all wanted to be first to the door. I don't I can describe the next scene with any justice, but I will try. Imagine a can of Sardines that you just pulled from the refrigerator and opened up. That one in the middle is me! You know, the one with the sardine on top of him pushing him to the bottom, and the one on the bottom pushing back on the one in the middle. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Perfectly describes the scene here.
They had steel barricades in front of Paris, with a gate to let us into the street. Turns out, during the show, they closed that damn gate. So after the show, the only way back into Paris was via the side entrance. EXCEPT NOTHING WAS EVER SAID ABOUT THAT. So a few thousand of us were all pushing toward what we thought was the entrance into Paris, while those in the front were unable to move due to there no longer being an opening. It took about 10 minutes for the word to trickle back that there was no opening. But everyone was laughing, and no one seemed to mind getting crushed, so I guess it was all part of the fun.
My stomach was reeling from the NYE party dinner that we had attended, and coupled with no sleep for having gambled way too long the night before, and faced with no craps for me with all the idiots that would want to play on NYE, I headed off to bed at 1 AM. My wife stayed down on the slots until 2:30. At that point, some people were starting to get snarly, and the EMTs were busy attending to people who were horizontal. She decided the room was the better option.
I am glad I did it, and would probably like to do it again, but it was a 6 hour flight to get out there (the headwind caused an extra 30 minutes of flight time). That feels SO LONG to be sitting on a plane.............
Instead, I went to my poker league manager's house at 7pm Monday for a dealer's tourney.
One player made kick ass lasagna and there was booze flowing freely. As well as plenty of cold bottled water for me and the other non-drinkers.
We played two tourneys. Short break at midnight. I bubbled both times. Because I was dealing, the winner tipped me so the games only cost $40 total.
Unfortunately, I didn't get home until after 5am so no trip to the Sands.
Josie and I flew to Vegas last time. 1 hour flight instead of 7 hour drive. Now she is spoiled.
