being in the fast track, wow.
A guy who likes Quick Hit slots and Let It Ride can't be bad at all! The vegetarian thing just means more prime rib for me.
Congratulations!
Thank you very much! I suppose that I am now at liberty to say that I have actually been an Administrator for about two months, now...
FarFromVegas,
Thank you, and your attention to detail is extremely impressive!
RonC,
Thank you, I'll certainly try!
Anyway, tentative congratulations, hopefully it all goes well.

Interesting...was this the "secret" Administrator mentioned some time ago...and now, will we have another "secret" one appointed?
It doesn't really matter--the admins are good and I only get chastised when I get way out of line!! It isn't like they "moderate with a mission" like some other boards!!
Quote: RonC...was this the "secret" Administrator mentioned some time ago...
You will see the secret admin when you see him ^^
Congrats, but don't let the power and title go to your head. LOL
I believe in probation first, but some of you are trying my patience.
Especially you EvenBob !
Thank you, I also hope that it goes well. Basically, someone made a post suggesting that there be additional Administration on this site, that was in Mid-July. I believe I am at liberty to say that I quoted that post and shot The Wiz a PM explaining that I'd happily volunteer to help out with things around here, and I also told him the name of the Philosophy Forum at which I have been a Moderator for three years. Whether or not he checked me out on that Forum, I am unsure.
RonC,
That's very true!
DJTeddyBear,
It is an honor to be Green as are The Wiz and JB, I tried to get hot pink, but they wouldn't let that happen. Green is actually the Moderator designation at the other Forum at which I am a Moderator.
I won't let it go to my head. Forum Moderation is nothing new for me as I have been doing it for over three years. My goal isn't to lay the smack down on anyone, but generally, just to act in the best interests of the Forum to make the on-line places I frequent (I think) even better! For what it's worth, I can be demoted or banned by The Wiz or JB at any time, so I am definitely aware of my place as third on the Moderation pecking order, and probably my place as 17,839th in gaming knowledge!
Quote: buzzpaffGreen is not my favorite color. Hopefully my ruse of a 3 day suspension fooled everyone. You know who I mean.

Well, green IS my favorite color, and since it isn't yours I can never accept you as my secret moderator! I will not tolerate such intolerance!
And always remember: "What fools these mortals be."
Quote: Mission146and I also told him the name of the Philosophy Forum
Is that where you get suspended for mocking Sartre?
Being is. Being is in-itself. Being is what it is.
I feel the same way about Taco bell wet burritos. I
would be banned on the philosophy forum for that.
And you were worried it would go to his head!
;)
EvenBob,
You may be thinking of the Philosophy Forums actually called PhilosophyForums. My personal opinion, not representative in any way of the Philosophy site that I Moderate nor of WoV is that they will ban for absolutely anything there, including the mere act of disagreeing with a Mod or someone a Mod likes.
Quote: WongBoWow, mission thinks he is in the top 18,000 of gaming knowledge ..the ego!

That's just on this site!
Thanks, WongBo!
Regarding MichaelBluejay, yes, he was demoted, for lack of activity as a "green" admin.
So, everybody mind your behavior, as Mission is on the job and I think he reads a lot more posts than I do. Tattletales are encouraged to write to Mission instead of me, in the interests of going through the chain of command.
Again, welcome Mission to the green club.

I did not know you were IRISH.

Wizard,
Thank you very much, it has been an honor to serve WoV thus far, and I hope for your continued satisfaction with my performance. Thank you also for your compliments regarding our consultations!
I also concur that I read a good many posts, here, I would probably conservatively estimate it at 99.9%!!!
Step up boys/girls. There can only be ONE first !!
They actually wouldn't be the first suspended by me. I guess the first Officially suspended by me, but certainly not the first.

Not to encourage you by any means, but I think you could have safely said he was the definition of an ass. But calling him an ass was close to being considered a personal insult

Pursuant to:
Rule 1-"Statler and Waldorf Standard." You could not call someone an, "Ass," on the Muppet Show.
Rule 12- Liberally construed, "Members are expected to act like ladies and gentlemen. Members may not be overly divisive or abusive to another member."
Rule 12- No trolling. Trolling is when you intentionally make a post to rile up another Member. Given the context of what was being discussed in that thread, there could be absolutely no question that the post in question would rile him up, and it did. I find it difficult to believe this was an unexpected result of the post.
The Wiz himself pointed out that it was a very border-line case, though. He has also stated that we take posting history and length of membership into account, to a limited degree, here. He has stated the latter elsewhere, anyway. That is what happened, in this case. A Member of less tenure would probably have been banned for that post, maybe one day, maybe three.
Quote: RaleighCrapsNot to encourage you by any means, but I think you could have safely said he was the definition of an ass. But calling him an ass was close to being considered a personal insult
He could certainly have said that, in his opinion, he felt the Member in question was behaving stubbornly. That would border-line Argument Ad Hominem on the Philosophy Forum at which I am a Moderator, which would be a violation there, but there does not seem to be an explicit Rule against Argument Ad Hominem, here. There probably doesn't need to be. The other Rules cover most Argument Ad Hominem cases, anyway.
I have no idea why Mission would take this job on for no pay. Hell, I have know me longer than he has, to say nothing of EvenBob, and this might soon be Mission Impossible. LOL
I'm doing it because I love this site as well as WoO. They are my two favorite places on the entire Internet. I also believe that a Moderator who is open with his decisions and not over-zealous can positively contribute to the quality of discussion on a Message Board by having an effect on its tone. I love this Forum because, more than anywhere else I have ever been (and I have been to a few) the Members here all behave like mature ladies and gentlemen with class, sophistication and dignity. In short, I consider all of you guys esteemed friends of mine, and something about my personality also makes me a natural peacekeeper, for the most part, so it works.
BuzzPaff,
I actually would have to ask The Wiz about the, "Time Served," for that one. I was not an Administrator of any kind at the time that happened. I'm also not sure exactly how such a grace period would work. The one thing I find interesting is that these things are kind of decided as they happen, which I think is pretty cool because it leaves room for flexibility on severity of offense. I like the way The Wiz does that. It is different from the Philosophy Forum, though, because no offense (aside from Spamming) is greater or lesser than any other offense and there is a graduated scale for ban length (strictly adhered to) based on how many Warnings you have with one dropping every three months.
That would never work here. Why? People here simply do not get enough Warnings, which goes right back to the class, sophistication and dignity comment from earlier.
Sometimes I unintentionally revert back to my old shop steward ways. When I moved from Baltimore to Denver, my first two grievances left local management dazed. A supervisor came in early, 6 am to try and catch anybody sleeping. Dallas Gibson had his headset plugged in, but was sound asleep. Supervisor shook him by the shoulder awake and told him he was suspended. Me, I was sleeping on the top shelf of the frame ( no dummy, me ).
Luckily Dallas just got up and went home. Later that day I met with the 2nd level and complained about the unfair suspension.
I mean a man could not even close his eyes for a moment of prayer without being suspended. Dallas was a honorary deacon in his church LOL Even got him paid for the 2 hours.
Quote: Mission146The law is lucky to have you on the right side of it, you'd be unstoppable!
Once you get married, the law owns you. Your wife has to serve your sentence as well.
My second grievance was even better. G. Sampson was a bit off, Germaphobic who used a kleenex to touch door knobs,
but also never bathed. He was sent home several times for Body Odor. I really hated that. I worked in same group and he would come back next day perfumed head -to-toe. It was like being trapped in an elevator with ten little old ladies.
He went on vacation to New York and came back 3 days late. Said he slipped in shower and fell. I got lucky cause the second level was a good old boy from Tennessee named Steve. It was 1978 and all his old buddies back home were growing grass and driving new trucks.
Anyway he agreed with me that Sampson just perfumed himself those other times. Then I had him. I explained this was probably Sampson's first time in a shower and how could he be expected to know it was slippery? Steve decided not to go to 3rd level and Sampson got paid.
Next union meeting I was elected Chief Shop Steward. LOL Good night, Chief Executioner 146
That was another excellent story, and hilarious. You really should have been a lawyer, I'd have you represent me any day of the week!

Funny thing, recently people may have been wondering about me on this. A few days ago I see a stranger coming out of a stall in the Men's at work, doesnt wash his hands.... and of course next object he touches is the door handle we all have to use.
OK, maybe he was broken-hearted and didnt need to wash his hands.
Nonetheless, I have been using a hankie to open the door since, and trying to change the hankie often [but I keep forgetting]. People seeing me might be wondering if I am a bit off too ! [g]

How many other forums are you on? Since it is easy to find why don't you name the philosophy forum that you've referred to? What's your post count on that one?
I would wish congratulations, but it seems like one of those jobs that really isn't that fun. So instead of saying congratulations, I'll say "Sorry, but thank you for doing it"
I had better be careful about my posts from now on...
:-)
Much more than Internet Porn! I'm afraid that I do not view pornography, I already have two very attractive ladies in my life, my wife and Lady Variance.

---Prepare yourself for profanity-laced tirades, if you read enough of my posts, especially if you set up an account and can view Rant House! There are no Rules regarding profanity, there, as long as a thread goes into the proper Forum. Thus, I could make a post consisting entirely of the word, "F***," and if I put it in Rant House it wouldn't be a violation of anything. We mainly focus on personal insults and Ad Hom Attack there, in fact, that's about all anyone gets banned for besides Spam.
EDIT: FORUM COUNT- I missed that question, sorry. I was the Administrator of ILoveOpinions.com, for a time, which is like ILP, only smaller. The problem with that was I was expected to do the updates, kept up with them, but then one day something that I had no access to needed a complete overall. I sent the owner of that site a few E-Mails, and got nothing useful back. I posted on Bandmix.com for awhile, different handle, but got tired of it. I'm a Moderator at MaliciousIntellect.com, which is basically a much smaller and tight-knit version of ILP. I haven't even logged in there in about a month, that's how slow it is.
I have posted at Forums besides those, here and there, but it's either been over a year or I simply don't remember which ones.
Finally, I am now on Facebook and have been for a little over a month. My wife finally talked me into it. She got tired of me wanting her to laundry list what was going on with the family every morning, and said, "Well, if you would just set up a Facebook account, you would know!" I also play two countries on a game called NationStates.net those are The United Socialist States of Barometria and the Empire of Chuck Norris Island. Those policies of my countries do not represent my political views, it's just a silly game that takes maybe five minutes a day.
FinsRule,
Thank you and you're welcome! I enjoy Forum Moderation, to be honest.

Math and music are two sides of the same coin. Go tap that out on your piano.
But I did not have an organ to put the rubbers on. So I put my galoshes on the piano.
Yet Josie still got pregnant. STUPID doctor.
