Enjoy it while you can. The next one isn't until September of next year. I'll probably stop by a casino card room on my home from work tomorrow just for the fun of it.

Friday September 13, 2006 is a day I'll never forget.
Earlier in the week, I had taken a two day course on unix systems operations.
Late Friday afternoon, I had tried something I learned. At least I thought I had learned this.
About a minute later, my phone started ringing. Next think I knew, my weekend was shot.

For you unix people: I signed on as root and changed the permission bits of every file on the hard drive.
Oooh... Unix didn't like that! Oh, yeah. I didn't have a backup.

I left data processing from Burroughs-Unisys A-series MCP/WFL/ALGOL in 2005....a relatively SAFE large systems environment...
Never looked backed after EZ Pai Gow and dice dealing actually spared me from Corporate Serf-dom....

So I'm guessing you did something like...
chmod 777 -R /
A friend of mine did that after he was pissed that he couldn't read/execute some files on his disk somewhere. Bad idea.

Does anyone suffer from triskaidekaphobia? Another Friday the 13th commences in about eight hours eastern time. I'll be at the casino. If I could only bring my black cat for luck.

Today is another Friday the 13th. Someone is bound to bring up triskaidekaphobia but is anyone paraskevidekatriaphobic? I imagine that would be worse.
How's your day going? Mine is going quite well. I relieved the casino of a substantial amount of money, substantial to me not them. About 45 minutes of blackjack yielded what usually takes me six weeks to make. Add to that the whopping $325 that I won in January and I'm looking pretty good.
Enough about me. I'm not going to elaborate because, frankly, I find talking about wins somewhat tacky. Tacky for me that is and the numbers are meaningless without the details. There is only person who can pull off talking about wins and losses. I'm always mesmerized by the exploits of our very own aceofspades. The guy just has the knack.

I don't put a lot of stock in the Friday the 13th thing, although I did ace a test on a Friday the 13th back in high school, which was quite a surprise because of the subject matter (science) in which I was very weak. My teacher called my home to tell my parents that I was the high score from all his classes. I guess that was good luck.
being this is February and not leap year, I guess there is another Friday 13 coming in march. :0

The only superstition I have is that it's unlucky to be behind when the game ends.
As for my day - I've no job, no money. I'm about to go get my kid and that will use up the last bit of gas I have. I spend 12hrs a day, every other day, shotgunning resumes for every $10/hr+ job opening I can find, and have gotten but one reply to tell me that I haven't been considered for an interview. I've exhausted unemployment. I've no state sponsored assistance. My relationship is in tatters and a custody hearing is just weeks away.
Yet, look out the window and you will see that the same sun that shines on you also shines on me. Spring comes, and the grass will grow by itself. Today is the best day of my life =)
