This is a waste of a thread. I don't think anything is wrong with Jerry. He has a lot of valid point that I agree with. People don't want to see the truth sometimes and just lash out.

If you're "insulted" with what I say about self-parkers at casions then you have very thin skin. It's all about what makes sense and what doesn't anyway. Sometimes there's weak people who need to get "slapped upside the head" in order to realize pertinent points, and if I've helped one person today or one or more people some day down the road when they face a parking option, then it's worth it.

Who is Jerry Logan?

Oh. Duh.

Believe it or not, I hadn't connected the dots, and actually went to Wikipedia for a clue....

The only info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Logan didn't seem relevant to anything:
Quote:

Jerry Don Logan (born August 27, 1941 in Graham, Texas) is a former American football player. He played as a safety for ten seasons in the NFL. He was a part of the Baltimore Colts Super Bowl V winning team.

DJ, I think that's an oversight that can be forgiven, considering how insignificant the topic. On the other hand, you have to be careful around here -- there is at least one poster who is willing to threaten the physical violence of slapping you upside the head to make you accept his point. A lot of recent postings would be just plain laughable, if folks weren't acting as if they really meant what they said.

Well, if you had a dictionary, or knew what to do with one, you'd know the word ignore means "to refrain from noticing or recognizing." If you had a thesaurus, or again knew what to with one, you'd know a synonim for ignore is disregard.

How about you try to look up "Ignorance"?

Let's see...."To refrain from noticing or recognizing"
Hmmm....

I get it again! You "refrain" ie., TRY YOUR BEST TO IGNORE my posts, you do not "notice" ie., SEE what I post, nor do you "recognize ie., NOTICE what I post. Phew.

JerryLogan, the whole problem with trolls is that they disrupt good conversations. I don't have an opinion on you being categorized as a troll (I could read through posts and come to one, though), so don't take this as being directed at you...but trolls really screw up these boards. They take good conversation and steer it in directions that make it worthless to read. If they do it enough, or enough of them congregate in one forum, it drives people away.

If someone has political opinions they'd like to share, take them to the "free speech zone" here or to another board...I don't want political stuff when I am trying to discuss a betting strategy, etc. If someone wants to be nasty, they should just go away.

Well said, RonC. My political views are irrelevant here unless they contribute to the conversation. Certainly there have been a few political conversations on this site but they were pertinent to the conversation, such as talking about gambling taxes (why are some states opening casinos and others are not), why Vegas is getting much more Bacarrat revenue (tax rates are much lower in Nevada than Macau), or other items that can have a political bent to the conversation. Certainly, we've had opportunities for some good discussions here, but it has been in context and with respect.

Not every discussion needs to slam Obama (or Bush), especially when it's completely out of context. You'll find that many of us here are republicans, some are democrat, and I am a complete left-winged wing-nutted whack job Canadian.

Jerry, this won't stop you however, and JB and the Wizard are stand up First Amendment guys who won't close a discussion thread, so go to it.

I'm still looking. Where do you see a political opinion within this thread?

I agree that nasty guy should just go away.

Finally, you stated this: "They take good conversation and steer it in directions that make it worthless to read."
Please expand on the good conversation that was hoped for out of a thread entitled "Jerry Logan is a douchebag".

Okay...I am talking about ANYONE placing political comments in any non-political thread. It is a "shoe"...wear it if it fits.

Some here must believe you are a troll. I am speaking out about troll-like behavior, not about any individual forum member. Again, the "shoe" comment applies. I don't have an opinion on you in particular at this point.

Perhaps this conversation would be better if it didn't have a name attached but my comments are about general forum behavior and not you specifically.

Good day!

It looks pretty simple to me.

First, it's not my site. Whatever happens, I am ancillary. I'm a user.

I have no power to stop a troll. Only the admins can do that. If the troll is still here, then that reflects the wishes of the admins.

I can only choose to log off, and remain logged off until the troll goes away. I would think that if site traffic drops to zero, then the troll will probably vanish.

You want the troll to go away? Log off, and stay logged off. FOR YOU, the troll will be gone. Go do something else for a couple weeks, check the posts without logging in and see if the troll is still here. If it is, go do something else again, and check back in another couple weeks.

What the site really needs is someone like this:

Johnny Tyler: You run your mouth awful reckless for a man that don't go heeled.
Wyatt Earp: No need to go heeled to get the bulge on a tub like you.
Johnny Tyler: That a fact...
Wyatt Earp [nods]: Uh-huh. That's a fact.
Johnny Tyler [stands]: I'm real scared.
Wyatt Earp: Damn right you're scared. I can see that in your eyes.
Wyatt Earp: [Tyler reaches for his gun] Go ahead, skin it! Skin that smokewagon and see what happens...
Johnny Tyler: [pauses, scared] M-mister, I'm gettin' tired of your...
Wyatt Earp: [slaps Tyler across the face, unafraid] I'm gettin' tired of all your gas, now jerk that pistol and go to work!
Wyatt Earp: [slaps him harder, now completely steely-eyed] I said throw down, boy! [pause] You gonna do something, or just stand there and bleed? No? I didn't think so. [Takes Tyler's gun and throws it to the bartender] Here, Milt, a keepsake. Hang it over the bar. Alright, youngster, out you go! [Grabs Tyler by the ear and yanks him along to the door] And don't come back! Ever!

watch here

But it looks like we're not going to get that, so the only choice is to patronize a different faro game.

Oh; and it's not "he", or "JerryLogan"; it's "it". It is a troll. Its pronoun is neuter. Refer to it as "the troll", or as "it".

I'm contributing to a ridiculously titled thread with questionable content (it's too accurate to be nonsensical). My assertions about you are based on your inappropriate and off topic political rants in other threads about gambling, and not based on the "aforementioned brilliance" of this thread. You might have been confused about that because I confined my comments to the space where they were supposed to be. The more you speak (and, thus, the less ignorant I am about you) the more I dislike you. So, while I may be ignorant about you, you're wrong about the direction of the correlation between my ignorance and my resulting opinion.

I'm still interested in that "Ignore" preferences setting I mentioned in another thread. JB, I was actually serious about that one -- making it so a designated member's posts don't show up on my screen and interfere with discussions that I am interested in. Let individuals set their preferences without leaving the site or pleading for admins to ban some member/troll.

I could give a shit about your political views. My problem is that you feel the need to share them in the middle of other conversations. I would MUCH rather have utterly no idea what your political views are. Though, now that I know them, I must say that I agree with a fair number of your positions. I utterly disdain the way that you've expressed them, and I think that people like you will eventually cause the destruction of the GOP, but I do agree with your views in most cases.

I simply want you, and everyone else here, to limit the discussion on GAMBLING-related threads to discussions about GAMBLING. It's pretty sad that such an idea is too hard for you to pull off.

I wonder what would happen if I asked you to try and stop using vulgarity. Maybe a new, titillating thread would start entitled "Is rdw4potus a douchebag"? I guess that one would be considered as gambling-relating as this one is, no?

And since this thread was started in my honor....Sarah Palin/Michele Bachman in 2012. Now THERE'S a ticket!

I did take care to double check that this thread was posted in the free speech zone before I cursed.

I'm a little worried about your proposed ticket. They'd make 1984 and 1964 look like close elections. How about Romney/Barbour? Or Huckabee/Romney? I like Huckabee/Romney myself. They'd be pretty well balanced between north/south, Romney would help in the mountain west, and they'd also blend religious and secular views. Huckabee can be a figurehead for the Church, and Romney can undo the Big O's damage to the businesses.

I wouldn't underestimate the likeability of Sarah P. or an all-female ticket in this country, and with Bachman it would make one heck of an attractive option. And just like the erroneous nonsense about GWB, Palin is extremely intelligent, has far more executive experience and overall logical experience than Obama, and Bachman is a female Newt Gingrich when it comes to embarrassing Dems with the facts.

Huckabee/Romney would be my 2nd choice for the reasons you stated.

Both Palin and Bachman are idiots. I've given them chances, listened to their ramblings on Fox, and they are completely incapable of debating issues. It's nothing but repetitive talking points, over and over; Bachman makes a complete embarrassment out of herself on the House floor on a monthly basis; Palin couldn't even finish one term as governor......this is coming from someone who voted for McCain and W both times. Sure they'd have strong support from about 20-25% of the population, but neither would ever have a chance to win on a national ticket.

I like Romney. Have no interest in Huckabee. He's a fiscal liberal, social conservative, absolute opposite of the type of politician I want.

If I remember correctly Logan, you said you voted for Obama in 2008. Why exactly have you had such a strong change of heart in 18 months? I question the intellectual capability of someone who talks about politics but doesn't seem to know anything about policy. What exactly has Obama done (or tried to do) that he more or less didn't promise for 2 years while running for POTUS? Health care, cap and trade, financial reform, etc... All were solidly right in his campaign platform, available for anyone with any intellecutal curiosity to view for months and months. How did you get duped if you are so brilliant?
