Whenever I've looked out at the golf course it's never busy so I'm assuming a comp'd round wouldn't be too much of an ask or is my expectation way out of line here?
If I do bring my clubs are there other spots people would recommend for a round of golf? I know a Top Golf opened in Las Vegas last year and that might be a fun activity too.

Unless someone else has info on it, I'd say your best guess would be to figure out what kind of offers you're currently getting and see if a free round of golf "makes sense" given those offers.
How much does it cost to play a round there? What kind of comps are you currently getting?
Quote: RSHow much does it cost to play a round there? What kind of comps are you currently getting?
The figure I've heard is $300-500 for a round depending on the time of year.
The only comps I've ever gotten from the Wynn are discount room offers with a free buffet thrown in. I lost about $1k there last year according to my Red Card account, but I imagine that doesn't even register for them.
Quote: SOOPOOI was told if you are a 4 hour a day $500 a hand blackjack player you can get a comped round. I got a comped tee.......
Hmmm it sounds like I'm way off base then looking for a comp'd round of golf. I *might* play 2 hours a day of craps for the $10 minimum and maybe an hour of blackjack at $15 or $25 a hand when it's 3:2 blackjack and not 6:5. Also a hour or so of $0.25 8/5 STP JoB as well.
Quote: WatchMeWinI played Wynn Golf Course a couple of years ago and it was AWESOME! It is an amazing course and the caddies know their stuff. It is a great experience. If you play at the Wynn and have a host, I would definitely ask for a comp round. The regular fees are $500 per round... but if you have a history of playing at Wynn, the host can do the best that he/she can. Hit em straight n long!
I do not have a host. I'm too small a fish for that. It does look like a lovely course and I would have liked to have played the course before it's turned into a giant lake, but it looks like I'm way off base in looking for a free round at the Wynn. Any advice for nice courses that aren't too expensive in the area WatchMeWin? I'll spend between $100-200 for a round if it's a really nice course to play.

120-160 will get you on Bali Hai week days 2-230 weekends always a few early tee times on weekends 140ish.
Google map Aerial view you will like it.
Quote: rainmanScrew Wynn, price wise total rip. Is there any round worth 3-500.00 not in my book and I'm a golf junkie.

The most I've ever paid for a round was last year in Scotland at Royal Dornoch and that was 130 British Pounds. It was worth the price. As nice as the pictures look for the Wynn golf course, I won't pay $500.
I'll check out Bali Hai. Thanks!
Are Desert Pines, Royal Links, or Arroyo worth a look?

Quote: ParadigmIf you want to play Wynn....do it quick. I believe it goes away shortly to make room for the "Water Lake/Island" experience coming. I think construction is suppose to start in late 2017 and once that starts, no more Wynn Golf Course.
Seems like Stevo is still looking for investors as it's been almost a year with no updates.
Good wager on this or the Genting project getting done first. We both will probably be gone before there is a winner.

Don't know about pines. Royal, Arroyo, Sienna the list goes on and on these are about a 100ish. All the courses I have played for 100 and above were no disappointment in fact I played some good municipal courses for cheap and they were good.
Shadow Creek which is owned by MGM is a far superior course. The comp price will probably be a little less than Wynn but you must be staying at an MGM property. Don't forget that these courses require caddies and you are expected to tip them. Figure $75-$125 for an average tip.

The Genting (Resorts World) project is going to extremely well. Other than the recent opening of Lucky Dragon, there were no Asian themed Casinos in Las Vegas... Ridiculous! Ive always wondered why no one has done one. Asians are the biggest gamblers and there is a huge Asian population, not only in America but obviously in the world. It makes perfect sense. I think Genting Group knows how to run casinos effectively and they will do very well.... and since I predominately date Asian women, I will frequent the establishment. Can't wait to see what they do with it!

How quickly we forget the "Imperial Palace"... hehe
Quote: AyecarumbaHow quickly we forget the "Imperial Palace"... hehe
I stayed at the Imperial Palace
Being part Asian, I was hoping for an Asian themed casino
No Asian atmosphere
What stood out for me was Fat Elvis and Dealertainers.
I've been to the Lucky Dragon
Definitely an Asian theme there
By the way, 500 a round is absurd
I pay an average of about 30 bucks for a cart and 18 holes in Florida

Hehe... Fat Elvis.
After WW2, Korea, Vietnam and the decline of the American auto and electronics industries, I can understand why Asian themes weren't considered attractive. Just as visitors from the USA don't seek out "Wild West" themed hotels in Hong Kong, why would Chinese want to stay in an "Asian" themed hotel, in the US?
There are golf options in Primm if you don't mind the drive.
I have to do something similar when I use a Harrah's spa as a Diamond comp. You get access to the steam room/sauna/jacuzzi/etc, including towels, attendants, showers and amenities. It doesn't come off your points, but you have to sign a chit showing a 20 dollar charge to the host account. A golf course might be a similar system, especially if it's run by a subcontractor.
Anyway, that would indicate the true cost of a round.
I also use the second Southwest free bag for my golf clubs. I purchased a Club Glove XL soft carry case and it's held up remarkably well the past 2 years.
I usually play in the Fremont Spring and Fall tournaments as my Las Vegas golf play for the year but this year decided to do some ad lib golfing while my wife played in the Sam's Town Bingo Tournament after thanksgiving.
It got me out of the casino for the day(not that it saved me money!)and I got to enjoy a couple different places that I hadn't been to before.
First, we did attempt to play at Topgolf the first week of November. It was around 7 on a Wednesday evening. World Series, HUGE Auto Convention. We waited over 2 hours and never got called to use a hitting bay. Spendy, trendy, very nice to hang out and drink and eat and have fun. And, bring your MGM card with you(there is some type of relationship)we played bartop VP to pass the time(bad paytables)but the machine did spit out free drink tickets during my visit. We got pretty hammered. Took Uber there and back from Downtown.
Anyways, on Monday I played(practiced)the entire day at the Taylormade Golf Facility on the strip near the airport. What a fun 6 hours I spent there. $50 for unlimited range balls, unlimited par3 course play and an electric golf cart for the day. Friendly staff, great food and drink and pro shop. What a jewel of a place.
On Tuesday, my final day, I easily drove up 95 North to the Paiute Reservation to play there. They have water and have 3 beautiful, unobstructed courses in the middle of nowhere just 30 minutes North of the strip. Off season, out of stater, $120 to play their newest Wolf course. Again, beautiful course, great staff and location.
We usually do Aliante, Red Rock public, Siena or Boulder Creek for the Fremont tournament. They are all great places but I'm enjoying venturing out when I have a rental and some free time.

You are right... my bad. I forgot about the IP. It never really stood out to me. Im still looking forward to the Genting Group project . I think they will do it right, just as the Venetian replicated Venice, The Paris replicated Paris, etc.... This new project is slated to represent old and new China...not just a city. My only gripe is that they are calling it Resorts World... not a fan of keeping this name for this project. So many better branding names to use for this type of venue. Cmon Man! Plus, every time I hear Resorts World, I think of that shit hole in Queens.

I agree
Resorts World is such a bland name
just like
THEHotel at Mandalay Bay
Quote: beachbumbabsI'm guessing the 500 is pure status. What would be educational would be to see the chit the host sends to the accountant when they comp a round. Anybody ever signed to one at Wynn or another similar priced course?
This is what I suspect as well -- it's not really $500 -- and given that I've hardly ever seen someone golfing on the course I figured low demand would equal a lower cost, but I suspect my chances of golfing at the Wynn before they turn it into a giant lake are slim to none.
I'm going to bring the clubs so now it'll just be deciding where to play.

I was wondering how busy it would be at the Top Golf. Our trip is at an odd time -- March 11-16th -- with the NASCAR race on Sunday and the NCAA college basketball tournament staring on the Thursday so the Top Golf might be busy. Is your wife a golfer? Mine is not so I might be able to get her out to a venue like Top Golf, but I'll never get her out on a course.

This sounds very appealing to me since I'm in Southern Ontario and the only golfing you can do currently is those indoor golf joints or hit a bucket at the local golf dome. I'd be nice to get my kinks out at a place like Taylormade and then play my round.

Thanks I did look up Paiute and I'll look up the others you mention too. Choosing a course will be tricky.
Thanks for the advice!

Quote: SOOPOOHelpmespock... I played Royal Dornoch also. I am not a huge fan of those style of courses.
I loved Royal Dornoch and golfing in Scotland in general. I played exclusively links courses when I was in Scotland last summer -- Kilspindie, Craigielaw, Royal Dornoch, Tain, Crail, and the New Course at St. Andrews twice. My handicap wasn't good enough to get on the Old Course. I was 28 last summer and the limit is 24.
It's mostly parkland-style courses in Southern Ontario and I always seem to get messed up by trees so links golf was refreshing in that regard.
Quote: SOOPOOIn Las Vegas my favorite course to play is Rhodes Ranch. It was less than $100 and was a very nice course for an average golfer. Relatively wide fairways.I am not that accurate and only hit one ball into the desert.
I'll check that course out. Thanks!
Given all the other things we'd like to do, I might only get one round in so choosing will be tough.
