Didn't like the long long walk from the hotel to the casino
They force you to pass cheezy retail on that walkway
Other than that
Place was ok

Hey, we probably need a new heading under Defunct Casinos!
Any word yet on how to score a blackjack or craps table for the man cave?

Look for an eventual auction or open sale is my guess. Stardust did that.

I'm sure. I just don't know if one of the used casino equipment dealers is going to get all "the good stuff" before the general public gets a shot.
The Rathskeller needs 6 new stools for the bar, but I'm thinking I don't want "unrefurbished" casino upholstery.

You can try here, but I didn't see any gaming equipment.
On the other hand, if you need a used Frosty Factory 232 Margarita Machine, they list 5 for sale for $1500 each.

Hah! No frozen margaritas for me. Shaken only. Lately, tequila has been salt, shot, and lime, on the rare occasion I have a date and am allowed to drink.
Here's what the casino looked like in 2007.
Visited there (and the strip in general especially Casino Royale) every year in the early 2000s.Quote: smoothgrhWizard of Vegas forum: [crickets]

Loved the free bird show at Trop.
RIP Trop.

Which brings up a question: when a casino closes, how does it get rid of its machines?
There was also some discussion online about what happened to any progressives. I think the consensus was, they can be transferred to other Bally's-owned casinos; the only thing I could find in the Nevada Gaming Regulations concerning progressives limited to that particular machine or within the Trop is, they must "arrange for satisfaction of that obligation {i.e. the value of the progressive} in a manner approved by the Chair." (There may have been something on Las Vegas Advisor's Question of the Day, but unfortunately that's behind a paywall now.)

Machines will not be going to the public. Never heard of it happening in modern times. They can be reused in other places. Tables and other stuff that cannot so get a BJ table for your cave, craps if you have the space. Just no Let it Ride!

Right, I wouldn't expect to buy a machine directly, I would want it to go through a refurb/conversion outfit.
I would expect it to get rekeyed (maybe I'm wrong).
I really expect the TITO printer and acceptor to get replaced with more standalone friendly systems.
The player's club hardware should be removed, and any faceplate holes blanked.
I, personally, see no reason to ever get a craps table. Dice bore the heck out of me.
I'll stick to the subtlety and nuance of games like War.

Me too, on a business trip way back when. I'm guessing 2005, + or -.Quote: terapinedI stayed there once
I might have stayed there in the early 2000s but i mainly stayed at Casino Royale and Venetian.Quote: JohnnyQMe too, on a business trip way back when. I'm guessing 2005, + or -.Quote: terapinedI stayed there once

Have no clue why Venetian sent me free room offers since i only played vp and craps at that time, both of which are low house edge games.
and about 1/10th the volume of casino royale
Look what I found.
I noticed it on my desk as I was looking for something else.
I used it during COVID to play solitaire or something to keep me occupied.
Maybe this will be worth something when the A's stadium is finished, 10+ yrs from now

Nice find.
I don’t think the baseball stadium plan will ever materialize. NFL was a stretch but worked because of the popularity of the sport. Baseball is like 1/10th as popular as Football and no one cares about the Oakland A’s. I see a modern casino hotel being built. This is prime strip real estate that would do extremely well if brought up to modern gaming/resort standards. One thing they will have to do is recess the hotel back even further from Tropicana blvd so guests don’t hear the traffic. Perhaps put the hotel where the parking lot is. Either that or put in bullet proof glass in the rooms lol. Between the airport and the roads, the noise is insane over there.

Wait, the Trop wasnt closed because of the baseball stadium?
Edit- Yes it was::
'Penn National Gaming bought the Tropicana in 2015, before selling it to Bally's in 2022.
A year later, Major League Baseball's Oakland Athletics reached an agreement with Bally's to permanently shut down and demolish the Tropicana, making way for two new projects: a baseball stadium (tentatively the New Las Vegas Stadium) on nine acres of the site, and a new resort bearing the Bally's name on the remaining land.'
Note: This Bally's is Twin Rivers, who bought the Bally's brand from Caesars in 2020 for $20M and Bally's Atlantic city for $25M.
If Hard Rock didn't buy Mirage recently, Casino Royale would have been the only non-Caesars/mgm property left on the southern half of the Vegas strip
Quote: 100xOddsI am shocked that Casino Royale outlasted the Trop.

One of my golfing buddies used to be the VP of slots at Casino Royale. He always complained that they never gave him much marketing and promo money for his good players. They did a lot of low end blanket marketing for new players but couldn't seem to keep the decent players.
Here is an example of a $3500 suite:
There is a video showing a lot of the stuff available, but nothing gaming related. The only things they said they would definitely not have: ladders, carts, and firefighting equipment.
