I don't blame the winner. I think a lot of players opt for this, even at small four or five figure wins. That is why "lucky winner" posters have lots of anonymous silhouettes. Never understood why the lottery in most states requires disclosure for big jackpots.

It's for advertising purposes. Thats more valuable to the lotteries then your privacy.
Oh I don't either. Even if the casino has the legal right to insist on publicity photos and some giant check, they are not going to push the issue. After all, they want a good portion of that 1.4 million to come back to them in the future.Quote: WizardI don't blame the winner. .

They claim it is for transparency purposes because letting the public know lets the public judge the integrity of the system. It would be much easier to cheat the system if you can stay anonymous.
I would think casinos could get more mileage out of that sort of publicity than state lotteries.Quote: IbeatyouracesIt's for advertising purposes. Thats more valuable to the lotteries then your privacy.

That is a good argument by the state.

BTW, if you ever hit a modest jackpot and want to make the winner's wall, I've found all you have to do is ask. They are usually happy to comply and will give you a copy of the picture.
