If I read things correctly, on or about April 1, 2012 Rampart Casino is going to change from being managed by Cannery to being self-managed (Hotspur Casinos) with Affinity (Terrible's) as hired consultants.

Any predictions on what to expect?

I'm not hopeful considering what Terrible's has done to their VP.

But maybe it's a chance for the newbie casino managers to make some mistakes?

I predict that I will still have never heard of that casino in six months.

Rampart is one of the collection of local casinos that used to make over $72 million in gaming revenue, but as of fiscal year 2011, no longer does. The Cannery management company, and American Casino Enterprises have had all their casinos drop below $72 million.

Sometimes it is not the expectation of a turnaround, it's just a way to cut expenses.

I really don't care what it means for them. I care what it means for me.

I don't think there is any precedent for Terrible's/Affinity entering into a consulting deal like this one. It'll be interesting to see what it looks like this summer.

That is the closest casino to my house, but I seldom go there. It attracts a very elderly crowd with promotions for gift certificates and various nick-knacks. The staff is nice but for the pure fun factor I'll take the Suncoast or Red Rock any day.

Previously Ramparts appears to have been managed as a casino rather than as a casino-hotel. So now perhaps rooms will be comped and a different market than "local fuddy duddy retirees" will be sought.

Sources now say that Michael Gaughan, Jr. (the third generation of Gaughan gamers) will take over the management contract of the Rampart on April 1. This is not the Michael Gaughan who owns the South Point; it is his son. (LVA reported this incorrectly). MG Jr. already manages the J.W. Marriott portion of the hotel. Now, he will take over casino operations as well.

In my opinion, this is welcome news. The South Point is one of the better properties in Las Vegas, and if anything has rubbed off from his father, I expect good things from MG Jr. He has a really nice property to work with, too. I wouldn't hold out much hope for the 100x odds on craps to remain, though.

Doesn't look well run from the "Vegas Stripped" show on Travel. I understand editing and TV drama, but they look like fools who are never ready for anything.

They just sent a mailer stating the entire property, Rampart Casino + JW Marriott Hotel, is going to be under one management as of April 1.

"all your points and comps will be available for use throughout the Rampart Casino and JW Marriott Hotel."

Thanks for alerting all the AP's. If you have to ask if there may be an opportunity from this situation, that means most likely you will miss it, especially now that you have alerted all the APs to this situation, anything good will be locked up and you will be shut out.

I think this is a 2 year old post someone bumped to viral market their timeshare link. Whatever plays there were would be long gone by now I imagine.

I didn't notice that. However possibly someone reading my statement may get the hint.
