I stopped by Plaza tonight. Lots of drywall everywhere with workers still getting their act together, new carpets and felts, whole banks of VP machines not working yet, sportsbook isn't open or the sportsbar there. Lots of dealers standing at empty tables. Official Grand Reopening is September 1. Grand Reopening chips are on order, but will be gradually worked into population in the coming weeks. I'm told G.O. chips will not be available September 1.

No poker room. No buffet. Get the new players card and get $5 free slot play.

Are they using the old cheques from before they closed last year until the new ones come in?

I believe they're the same chips they had before based on dealer conversations. I'm a poker player, and I never played at Plaza since their poker room was so lame, but I walked up to the first crap table I saw, looked at their rack of chips and asked if they were offering any new GO chips. Dealer said "Go to cage and ask" which is what I did and heard about possible GO chips, but any on order won't be arriving till waaaaay after the Sept 1st official GO. The stacks of chips at the tables did not resemble anything I had in my collection, but those were from years ago. So, no, I don't think Plaza has new chips. G.O. chips in the future.....maybe.

I never played at the Plaza, but I ate at their buffet many
times over the years. It was real cheap and they always
had prime rib. They had good Mexican and Italian dishes
that were always good, all for $7.99.. It reminded me of
the Vegas of 70's, before the buffets got all hotsy totsy.
Good home cooked type food for a cheap price.
