The vp games not that good but a progressive allways interests me.
quarter video poker has a 1199 progressive jackpot but the jackpot is stuck at 1199.
Is this so it attracts players that dont want to win 1200 due to taxes but 1199 ok?
Seems like the term used should be semi progressive instead of progressive since jackpot not rising.
Quote: terapinedDidn't hit the square but I noticed the video poker progressive at the prohibition bar.

I'm sure you're 100% correct.
Quote: sabreAre you certain it was a progressive? It was probably just a quarter machine with the royal jackpot at $1199 instead of $1000.
In the casino business we call those static progressives. I know, it is an oxymoron.
I paid the resort fee so I had wifi.
I found it very inconsistent. The signal was there consistently sometimes
Other times very inconsistent and frustrating.
Now this room I had at the Golden Gate was tiny, its not possible to have a smaller room .
After dealing with their inconsistent internet signal, it finally hit me.
If I am surfing while on the toilet doing my business, everything is good.
If laying on the bed, I inconsistent, very weird, its only a few feet difference.
By the way this is room 248.
So if I needed to surf the internet, stepped into the bathroom.

The smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in was at the Golden Gate, on the fourth floor. And I remember once staying in a really small room at the Horseshoe (not on the old Mint side, but above the original Horseshoe).

Most hotel rooms were small when this
hotel was built. I worked in a hotel built
in 1902, the rooms were tiny. People
didn't hang out in rooms like they do
now. No TV or radio, no air, cold in the
winter, they slept there, that's it. They
shared a few bathrooms with everybody
else on the floor. Before plumbing, there
were lines of outhouses behind hotels
that were moved periodically as they
filled up.

If I'm not mistaken, the original hotel rooms at the Golden Gate were on the second floor, the third and fourth floors were added later. These second story rooms were very small and weren't remodeled until a year or two ago. They had tile in the bathrooms from the 40s or earlier. And the doors leading to the rooms were quite small. Frankly, I liked the Golden Gate better before the remodel. It had a certain charm. The piano player, the snack bar, the quaint hotel reservation desk, dealers peaking under their aces to see if they had it (no reader).
Quote: Mission146How would you compare it to Four Queens' rooms?
If Golden Gate is Travelodge, Four Queens would be Ritz
Quote: KeyserThe place is a toilet. It feels and looks like something in the Philippines.
Easily the worst hotel I ever stayed in. I got a comp for a night in a mailer. I am fine with the small room, especially since it had been remodeled with average grade stuff. Even the old grungy bathroom was something I could get over, though it completely offset the remodel. I think the bathroom was disgusting and probably would put off most people though.
The noise/music from the casino below (I was on the second floor) is what made us finally give up on the place. It kept us up until we gave up at 6am and went home. Walls and floor are as thin as could be.

Wow...that's pretty bad. As a hotelier, myself, I must object to, "Four Queens," and, "Ritz," being used in the same sentence, regardless of context...j/k

You being such an expert on Vegas and all,
having been there exactly twice. I like
4Q, and have stayed there dozens of times.
And will again. I also think GG is charming.
It's not a Comfort Inn (gag me) but what is.

Is it not a fair statement to say FQ is not equivalent to the Ritz?
Honestly, I might stay at Four Queens again, if they offer me a free room at some point. Maybe my room at 4Q was worse than their average, but if you disagree with my observations, feel free to ask Rudeboioi, who stayed there with me.
Location, 4 Queens , I would rather be across from the D and Freemont then the Plaza. GG is a shorter walk to Main ST so a small plus for GG
Size of rooms, 4 Queens. The GG rooms are small.
Noise , 4 Queens, It was noisey outside at the GG. Also in morning at the GG sitting in the bathroom can hear through the ventilation
TV , Golden Gate. The TV's at 4Q are flat screen but not High Def, GG has high Def.
Bedding, Golden Gate, Same exact sheets and comforter as the D. 4Q sheets thin and bedding cover thin, I like thicker like the D and GG.
Elevator, Golden Gate, Only 1 but with 4 floors, I never waited. I have waited for the 4Q elevator even though they have more.
Bathroom in room , tie, Golden Gate its brand spanking new but tiny. 4Q standard size so comfortable size. so a tie, new and tiny vs comfortable size.
Gambling, 4 Queens, Great Video Poker, they have Pai Gow. No Pai Gow at the GG and VP sucks.
Dupars vs Magnolias. I prefer Dupars just for the counter. I'm a counter person, like eating at a counter or bar. I have only eaten at each place once.
Sexiness, Golden Gate, I sat down to play some BJ just to get a good view of cleavage :-)
Bar, 4 Queens, I love their bar right by the Freemont Experience, just love the vibes at this bar and sometimes the VP progressive gets really high.
Players Club, 4 Queens. They just changed the program but old program, I scored all kinds of freebies, free nights, hat, couple shirts, jacket.
Promotions, Golden Gate. 200 table buy in gets you a free football square for Sunday nite game.
Windows, Golden Gate. You can open your window at GG. 4Q does allow you to open your window partially. Last time on the strip I was sealed in uggh.
History. Golden Gate. a lot of interesting stuff on display such as old slot machines, furniture, chips ect. I like this kind of stuff.
Decoration, Golden Gate, My room decorated with classic black and white photos of Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra. Very classy.
Towels, Golden Gate, good thick towels like the D. 4Q towels very thin.
Electrical outlets , 4 Queens, not enough in the GG room but had a couple.
Dealer Uniforms, Golden Gate, I love the white shirts with suspenders classic old look and the pit bosses with the hats. A real 1930's feel, love it.
Fremont and MSS are Comfort Inn quality.
You simply must try the vintage rooms at El Cortez. Some of my favorite rooms anywhere.
Quote: teddysBest hotel downtown is Golden Nugget. Then, surprisingly, Plaza. Great, big rooms with free wi-fi and Direct TV, big screen TV's, bottled water.

The rooms are vintage at the Las Vegas Club too. But they are big.

Jesus, I'm starting to feel irrelevant. I haven't been in Nevada in 7 years now. When I was there LVC always sent me 3 day room comps.
