I would not recommend the Pavilion Rooms. They open to the outside and are basically a converted parking garage. Go for a Tower room of at least a Cabana Jr suite, which is the size of a regular room, but they charge a $200 deposit to insure you won't smoke in it.
The Vintage rooms are smoking only, but cheaper.

Does anybody know if the Cabana Suites have any rooms with two queen beds? It appears all the Cabana rooms are one king only (suites and regular Cabana rooms). I would like to check this place out, but I don't think my buddy wants to bunk with me in one bed. i guess they are caterng to couples only??

One King bed only. The Junior Suites are the size of a regular to large room, the regular Cabana rooms are on the small side, and offer a smaller bed.
Best bet is a Tower room.

I agree. The tower rooms are one of the great deals in Vegas. Fantastic view for very little money. The pavilion rooms are horrid.

El Cortez announced a design competition for it's 14 suites . The resort will be turning age 70 next year. Although gambling existed back to 1931, the El Cortez (opened 1941) was the first purpose built building for a resort and gambling. It was opened before Pearl Harbor and did not have competition until after the war.
