It looks like the Evil Empire wants to take over Poker in A.C. I wonder if they're planning on doing the same in Vegas.

I got it too...though I'm assuming if you are playing in a tourney you will not receive the payout, since those are not "bad beat eligible" tables.
I wanted to create three jackpots, the Mini BB, Mega BB, and Monster BB.
The Mini and Mega BB jackpots would be based strictly on the room's take itself. The Mini qualifier would be AAAJJ gets beat, both hole cards play. (This means AAA on the board and JJ, QQ in the hands IS a bad beat). The Mega qualifier would be 2222 gets beat, both hole cards play. Each jackpot is funded independently based on a percentage of the take.
The Monster BB jackpot would be based on a percentage of all family casinos jackpot. The qualifier would be AAAA gets beat by a straight flush or royal flush. Btw, this is NOT straight flush over straight flush; rather, four aces would have to be the losing hand.
That's not how it reads. I'm thinking that a bad beat in a tourney doesn't qualify, but if you're seated at a tourney, you still qualify for that $100 minimum share if it hits at a qualifying table.Quote: cclub79I got it too...though I'm assuming if you are playing in a tourney you will not receive the payout, since those are not "bad beat eligible" tables.

why it gets shared is a mystery to me.
I wouldnt be happy with the dollar vanishing out of every pot. Just me I guess.
Anyway, statistically, how many showdowns on average does it take till 4 of a kind gets beat I wonder? And how big is a typical bat beat payoff?

Do you think? Because there's not a dollar coming out of each hand during a tourney, which is why I was always told that Tournaments don't qualify for bad beat jackpots. I recall someplace a couple of years ago that said anyone playing in the room "In a live game" would share in the bad beat. It wasn't across 4 casinos, but it still was specific to eliminate the tournament, because you aren't paying into it there.
why WHAT gets shared?Quote: odiousgambitwhy it gets shared is a mystery to me.
FYI: Until now, the typical BB payoff is this: 20% to the winner of the hand. 40% to the loser of the hand. 20% gets shared. 20% goes to re-seed the BB. Some casinos display the amount to be shared, and split it 25%, 50%, 25%.
Also, until now, at Bally's, the shared portion was shared with everyone in the room. All other casinos shared it with the other players at that table.
There's a lot of that kind of sentiment, but, its nothing new. Unless I'm mistaken, every A.C. poker room except the Hilton takes $1 for the bad beat. Sands PA and Foxwoods also has it. Mohegan Sun does something different: High hand every 4 hours.Quote: odiousgambitI wouldnt be happy with the dollar vanishing out of every pot. Just me I guess.
Typically, it goes many months before hitting. I was at the Taj last year when it hit. It hit again the very next day. I wasn't at either table.Quote: odiousgambitAnyway, statistically, how many showdowns on average does it take till 4 of a kind gets beat I wonder? And how big is a typical bat beat payoff?
To give you an idea how long it takes, until now, Bally's minimum qualifier started at quad Jacks, but would go down every month till it got to quad twos.
Last fall, it hadn't hit at Caesar's and had gotten up over $500,000. There were so many people trying to play poker that all tournaments were cancelled (tournaments don't qualify), every table was utilized for qualifying games, and at times the wait to get a seat was over 4 hours!
I TOTALLY agree with you. You're right that tourney's don't qualify to trigger the bad beat.Quote: cclub79Do you think? But until now, at Bally's, everyone in the room got a share.
And the email seems to indicate that EVERYONE in all four rooms gets that $100 minimum.
Not that it matters -- I just needed to say something while I sipped my coffee ...

I forgot to say that the only change is that the shared portion is now shared among everyone at all four casinos.Quote: DJTeddyBearFYI: Until now, the typical BB payoff is this: 20% to the winner of the hand. 40% to the loser of the hand. 20% gets shared. 20% goes to re-seed the BB. But that $100 minimum has me curious to know what happens if that adds up to more than the 20% to be shared.

Thursday, August 26th, 2010
Well that didn’t take long.
Harrah’s new combined bad beat jackpot, which went into effect 8am Tuesday, hit barely 51 hours later at Caesars at 11:16am this morning.
So the $535,469.60 first jackpot doesn’t set a record for the city, but we have a feeling anybody playing in a Harrah’s room this morning is OK with that.
Under the new system, everyone playing in an eligible cash game at Caesars, Showboat, Bally’s and Harrah’s won $2,705.
The new jackpot is currently $138,826: http://www.harrahs.com/atlantic-city-poker.html
