So the Evil Empire has a new promotion running where getting 500 base tier credits in a day gets you gas discounts if you sign up for a gas card through Shell and link it to your TR account. Their website has this to say:
The Total Rewards program offers an additional benefit to its members by rewarding them with Fuel Rewards savings through the Fuel Rewards Network program. Total Rewards members will earn a 10¢/gal reward on every 500 Tier Credit milestone they reach (e.g. when Tier Score reaches 500, 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, 2,500, etc.), limit one (1) 10¢/gal reward per day, five (5) 10¢/gal rewards per month. In order to qualify for Fuel Rewards savings Total Rewards members must create an FRN Account and link their Total Rewards card.
Heres a video explaining it:

From august 19-28 you get double points. So 500 points in a day gets you 20cents/gal off. So if you took three trips during the double points and got 500 points each day (would be an expected loss of around 63 dollars if you can find a 9/6 JoB machine) you would get 50 cents/gal off. An expected loss of 63 dollars for a discount of 50 cents a gallon sounds like a bad deal. Even if I drove 1,000 miles a month that would save me 15 dollars in gas a month (unless I camped out selling my cheap gas to RVs and big trucks, which I most certainly would do)
Fuel Rewards savings issued through Total Rewards expire on the last day of the month immediately following the month in which they are earned. For example, if a Total Rewards member earned Fuel Rewards savings on June 17th, the reward will expire on July 31st.
There are also mastercard bonuses associated with it like a discount of 3cents/gal if you spend 100 bucks on groceries or 5cents/gal when you spend 50 dollars on dining out with your mastercard at participating locations.
All related promotions are listed here: https://www.fuelrewards.com/fuelrewards/promotions.html
Does anyone know the maximum possible discount? They never mention there is a limit. could be extremely profitable if you got 50 cents off one month and 50 cents the next month and had an entire month (well, 26 days) of a one dollar discount. In conjunction with the other discounts It would actually be possible to get it down to zero if you bought enough groceries (possibly for other people!).
Has anyone done this or researched it enough to know the answer? Or has anyone joined the fuel rewards program? If so, what do you think of it?

They're competing against themselves. I get double reward points when I use my Total Rewards Visa for gas.

I get 5% cashback this quarter from Chase at gas stations. Such a great deal my CC got hacked over it for the first time ever (as well as my mother's)! *grrrrrr* Chase immediately got the cards locked down though. Got my new card in the mail yesterday.

This sounds very familiar to the Fuel Rewards program I get from Smith's. A Division of Kroger.
For every $100 in purchases, I get a 10 cent discount per gallon of gas purchased.
Good for up to a 50 gallon purchase at one time.
With the similar time limits.
It's good at participating Smith's or Shell fuel locations.
I believe it's up to 50 cents off per gallon when redeemed.

I don't know everything but I know a lot.

I joined Fuel Rewards and was very pleased to see that my Total Rewards play got me $0.30 off per gallon... until I found out there are no participating gas stations in my area (San Diego)!
I called Fuel Rewards just to make sure. It turns out all the Shell stations here have a promotion with a competing company.
For now, at least, I'm SOL.

My local Shell station that I routinely use has the FRN promotion. I just joined the FRN program and linked my TR card.
Am I correct that the play I put on my TR card this month (October) will mean a discount on gas purchases in November, or might they come earlier?
I am also interested in finding out the maximum discount.
I was told by another player that you are limited to only ONE gas purchase per month using the discount. Is that true?

Max discount is 50c/month from what I have read. I dunno about the one time per month thing.
