Quote: PapaChubbyYou have a comp offer for Paris but not for Planet Hollywood? If its available, it sounds like PH would be the best option for you.
PH lately seems to be considered more exclusive than Paris. I usually have Caesars and PH excluded from my options, sometimes Paris and Bally's, and the others I can nearly all get.
As for my vote, if you can get Paris, take it. It's not incredibly sexy, but it's central and they have a growing nightclub.
Edit: just for the room itself I would say the rio. They're probably double the size of the other casinos. You can catch a free shuttle to ballys or even harrahs if you want, which is nice, but it is a bit of a pain in the ass sometimes as you might have to wait up to 30 minutes for a shuttle to return if it just left
I am surprised you only got those three hotels comped if you are getting close to Diamond. Have you been invited to the great rewards wrap-up, Tournea watch giveaway, free electronic gift giveaway? I would wait for those offers if possible.
As for your question, you will only find a 5 dollar game at Ballys. Paris runs 5 dollar games sometimes and is only a short walk from Ballys. The atmosphere at Ballys is pretty cool since they have cover bands playing fairly close to the their craps tables. However, I am not a fan of Paris or Ballys. I would stay at Harrahs, Rio, or Caesars Palace if possible. If you call totalrewards, you should be able to get a standard room comped. Have fun, I am heading out their next weekend. I grew tired of Harrahs Rincon, their rating system is terrible for table game players.
I recently stayed at Bally's. I HATE the long tunnel from the front door to the strip. But, it DOES have conveyor belts in it.
On the other hand, go out the side door onto Flamingo Road, and you're right by a crosswalk that brings you into Bills back door. Walk thru Bills to Flamingo, and you'll be at a crosswalk to Caesars.
That worked for me because I liked playing poker at Caesars (they have free WiFi in the poker room), and I tend to dislike the elevated cross-walks.
Note: As I found out the hard way by driving around the block a second time, Bally's doesn't have it's own parking garage. You use the Paris garage and have to walk thru the back of Paris to get to Ballys. If you're going to self-park, then you might want to consider Paris. Otherwise, they are about even in my mind.
You probably don't want a GO room, the frosted bathroom can be quite odd for two straight dudes to share. I was in there with 3 friends 2 months ago, and it was sort of weird. View of the strip was great though. I think the other recently updated rooms are nice though.

Rincon is tough on table players for rating purposes, but you have to be smart about it. Ever since I read Comp City my ratings there have improved significatnly, maybe even 50%. However if you don't want to play that game that is understandable.
At 6,000 points and a trip comming up I am on track to earn diamond by the end of the year. I have just started receiving great rewards wrap up mailers but I don't know much about it. I have not heard about the other offers. I also received my first mailer for Vegas that included free play. I can stay at Flamingo in Sept. and get $50, not too shabby!
My grandparents are high rollers at Valley View and got invited to go to a Padres game in the Valley View suite, so I will be doing that September 8th. Don't plan on gambling though. I gamble pretty high now (compared to when I first started) that I just focus my play in Vegas or Laughlin. As you proceed through the Harrahs tiers you will get offers for junket flights to Laughlin, free macth play, nicer rooms, comped food and beverage.
You still making the rounds in Indian territory?
Golden Nugget is a strip quality property in downtown. I personally don't like the Nugget, I don't think their dealers are professional enough for the image they are trying to create.
Quote: KeyserGood lord, why would you want to stay at the El Cortez, even with a comp? Stay at the Rush Tower in the Golden Nugget the first night, then go to Paris.
Rooms are not bad at the El Cortez. Also, They have also offered me a free room, $125 in free slot play, and a $75 food comp. On top of that, they have offered me 5x points on one calendar day. This makes the cashback alone 1% of my action plus whatever I earn in the seperate comp account. For some I am sure these are small amounts, For me, this is an unbelievably good deal.
Quote: bigfoot66When was the last time you were there? I heard that it used to be a lot worse but that they cleaned the place up. Its no worse than the Four Queens or the Fremont. Also, I loved O'Sheas!!!!
Don't listen to Jerry Logan. I can't understand why anyone would want to play at GN. I stopped in for free bet blackjack this past weekend and they only had two cashiers going. The line was winding throughout the casino. The next morning I tried again after breakfast and there was still a line. First and last time I play there.
Quote: bigfoot66I would prefer the GN to EC all other things being equal, and I will certianly play free bet BJ. But all other things are not equal....
I've never seen the rooms at ElCo, or for that matter at GN, but both were nice enough places to play at.
What I still dislike about ElCo is the walk accross a mostly deserted street to/from the FSE area (which is what I think of when figuring Downtown, BTW), even in the daytime. I woulnd't walk there at night, unless there were more people around.

This is a fair concern. But I was a NCAA heavyweight wrestler in college less than 10 years ago, and I am much bigger now than I was then. No one is gonna mess with me.

Cool! Next WoVCon will probably be around late May or early June (though a carload of assumptions lies in between yet). I could use an escort for crossing the street. Interested? The job doens't pay, but it's a good learning experience. ;)
