Very quiet, but rather dusty, since the hotel has been closed for five years. But the former check-in counter now sells discount souvenir t-shirts, so there is that.Quote: SoonersFanHow are rooms here?
The Golden Nugget is as upscale as you will find downtown, but they charge for the luxury. Consider the Plaza, Golden Gate, or D as alternatives. Reviews are on the homepage.Quote: SoonersFanHow are rooms here? I'm going to be over in Las Vegas next month but I've never stayed downtown before. Thanks
That is a video of the Mint side of the hotel that Binion's took a month or so ago. They also took some videos of the catwalk and Apache.
He was trying to offer me a food comp ticket or something like that. But I refused. I said I had enough resort credit at Wynn.
You WHALE you.Quote: pokerfaceOn my last trip when I played at Binion's, a pit boss asked me if I were staying at their hotel, I said "No. I am staying at Wynn".

That "their hotel" he was referring to was Four Queens, unless your last trip was before 2009.Quote: pokerfaceOn my last trip when I played at Binion's, a pit boss asked me if I were staying at their hotel, I said "No. I am staying at Wynn".

By the way, taking the original question at face value as if it was still open for booking just as it was: for the last several years that it was open, the hotel at Binion's really sucked in epic fashion, both for the condition of the physical plant and in the quality of human staffing and the systems aspects. There's good reason the owner made a sound decision to close the hotel not long after getting the property with the casino from MTR, rather than pointlessly p*ss money into it and cheese-off his customers by shacking them up in there. You didn't miss anything good. I took a room there for a couple of nights when MTR was still in control of it (just before the current owner got it) at a rate of something like $8/night if I remember correctly, and found it overpriced by about $7.95. In contrast to that mess, his ongoing hotel operation at Four Queens does not suck at all, in my opinion. You wouldn't ever mistake it for Wynn no matter how many of the complimentary beverages you've had, but it doesn't pretend to be that.

4 Queens is a semi-hidden gem with great rooms and coffee shop. Cheap. No resort fee. Elevators open right in the casino. FSE is literally 6 steps away. Nice and comfy. Screw the megaresorts.

WHALE me not. In fact I am a cheapskate.
It's just an offer of 3 comped nights (no resort fee), $300 free play(table or slots) and $100 resort credit per day and some show tickets.
But I never be able to finish $100 resort credit per day.
My most expensive meal is the dinner buffet, $40 something and I only eat two meals a day or even less.
I never eat steak (or any beef for that matter). I prefer 99 cents hot dog and $3.99 per dozen donuts.
I also wasted the show tickets.

I'm so super stoked on you!
I barely remember the room. All I remember is that it was small but that's no real big deal for me.
I stopped by the players club last month and asked if they were planning on opening the hotel back up, they just said they were hopeful.
I'm actually surprised the 4Q doesn't open the Binions hotel because 4Q does sells out sometimes. They are actually sold out the weekend 2 weeks from now.
I know because I called and they couldn't accommodate me so staying next door at the D.
The one thing I do remember was the pool on the roof at Binions.
I did check that out, took a swim. I love rooftop pools, cool off with great views.
I think the pool is still open and 4Q guests can use it.

No danger in getting beef in that kind of hot dog! rotflmao
Eh, maybe so, but I don't mind chatting about it and see no harm, regardless of whatever the OP may have been up to.Quote: mcallister3200Haha, first post, no response, about a long closed hotel. Everyone got t-rolled.
And in that spirit: I haven't been in "The D" since they sold off most of their letters and added a "resort fee." I thought the hotel there was fine, but besides having an extra super tall hotel tower it also always had the hands down winner of the award for the slowest elevator in Las Vegas. Not something that would keep me from using a room there if they gave me the right price on a night I wanted it, but that elevator was truly remarkably amazingly painfully creepy slow. Is it still that way, or did they use the money they saved on lighting up a bunch of letters in the old "Fitzgerald's" name to upgrade that sucker?

Hear, hear!
I've stayed there twice. Last time I stayed at the GN, but I still ate frequently at Magnolia's.
The only thing they don't have is a vanity. Other than that the rooms are perfect.

The casino isn't very large, either. I liked the GN, but having to walk through the whole casino to get to/from my room, especially at the end of a rather long day of additional walking, really took it out of me. On the other hand, it also substituted rather well for a daily workout.

Yes, but that's true of all the hotels on Fremont St.
Next year I'll try again to stay at the 4Q. Failing that, I think I should aim for the MSS.
Fremont is a very underrated property. The rooms are nice and super convenient to the casino. It was my choice downtown.Quote: Sabretom2When staying downtown, I prefer Main Street Station. Ok rooms are normally comped (it's a Boyd's house). Good gaming. FP JOB at the bar. Best buffet downtown. First rate brew.

The article mentions that a new entrance to the upstairs bar is being put in to allow guests to "avoid walking through the casino". Whoever thought of that innovation for a Las Vegas property should be fired.

Haven't you heard? Bars and clubs are where the money is at in Vegas, now. People are losing interest in gambling as the payouts get worse and worse every year. The only thing left is to get hammered and take selfies with dudes standing on the street in diapers and nuns with duct taped tits.
Pretty sure that places namesake is rolling in his grave as to what a POS that place and downtown overall has become.

Hehe... Why ride the cow if you can get the milk for free?
