I am wondering if they will float me some airfare?
Has anyone spent NYE in Vegas before - comments thereon?
Quote: IbeatyouracesYes, but I stayed inside at Tuscany. I decided against going out in the throngs on the strip. You'll be right in the middle of the action at Aria.
Well I would be at the Aria event - I would hopefully not be roaming the strip aimlessly
And that last NYE about 5 years ago was the time I couldn't get maid service to make up the room for two days... including no new towels... because we were "forgotten" in the crowd.
When I finally got a hold of the VP of housekeeping (or whatever the title was) I said "what are you going to do for me to make up for this? You can't give me free rooms because my rooms are already free. You can't pick up my meals because my meals are already free. You can't give me show tickets because my show tickets are already free".... and on and on. So they had a meeting of execs: what can we give this VIP player to compensate him for our blunder? The answer was "nothing because he already has everything comped." And that was my last NYE in Vegas.
Although every New Years where I live is just people shooting guns in the air and sometimes at each other so maybe I don't have the best barometer to judge.
Quote: PerditionYeah with the crush of the crowds and the madness that ensues, it seems like the last place I would want to be during that weekend. However seeing Fleetwood Mac would be nice, especially for free.

I wish you a safe NYE!

I had always thought that NYE in Vegas sounded fun, but it actually sucks because as the night progresses, you eventually become stuck in one place and can't move around until the crowd disperses after midnight.
It might be cool though to do it once, just for the experience.
nightmares about it. You can't play, you can't get
a drink, you can't go anywhere, you can't move
once you get there. Ended up in my room watching
it on TV. I could have done that at home.
You might drop the line to the Tables Supervisor that it wouldn't hurt him/her to answer the phone every now and then.
nite, cause you'll never find another one.
Quote: EvenBobIf you get seat at a bj table on NYE, Ace, better sit there all
nite, cause you'll never find another one.
And I hope you're a $100 or higher BJ bettor too.
Anyway we had a great time, but I didn't do any gambling after 6:00 pm, didn't want to play when I knew I was going to be drinking a lot and didn't want to carry a lot of cash for the previously mentioned reasons.
If you have an opportunity, I'd recommend giving it a shot. It's one of those things I'm glad I experienced one time.
Great show!
The trip included a NYE dinner in the Paris convention center, with a dance band.
I was not feeling well, but the dinner was VERY good. We left about 10:30 PM and went out into the strip in front of Paris. It was neat standing in the middle of the street, with 30,000 of my new friends. It was surprisingly cold. The fireworks being shot off at the same time from 5 different casinos was impressive. Definitely created a 3D view AND FEEL, since you get concussions from all of the shells going off.
I wouldn't go every year, but it is certainly worth doing once.
I got all of my table time in during the NYE day and did not attempt to play that night. I did walk by the craps tables. They were $25 and 2 rows deep of mostly morons that don't have a clue on how to play. I went to bed by 1:00 AM and got up in the morning to go play.
Quote: PerditionSpeaking of these events, isn't today the day MLife reset?
Yes it is. I went to the web site and points are reset at 0.
Quote: aceofspadesAnyone from this site going to be in Vegas for NYE?
Only the people who live there, and if they're
smart, they'll be hiding in their homes.
Quote: aceofspadesAnyone from this site going to be in Vegas for NYE?
I will, but I'll be far away from the Strip and even Downtown. NYE on the Strip is cool once, but after that, no way...
Quote: aceofspadesI cannot decide whether to go to LV or AC for NYE
I'd do Vegas since you've never done NYE there. Also, Aria seems like one of the better places to be staying at.

Ohhhh what have you heard?
Quote: AlanMendelsonI used to go to Caesars for NYE every year... up until about 5 years ago when I realized it's the worst weekend of the year to be there. Too crowded, bad service because of the crowds, highest table limits... and that was about the time Caesars stopped offering special dinner/concerts for their VIP guests and replaced it with a buffet and local band.

Alan has it right. It is a zoo and you are used to Revel where the busiest day they ever had equals December 15th in Vegas. Far too many young drunks and that is why they offer players the moon and sun to come to Vegas. Unless you want to be part of that crowd, and yes leg is everywhere, pick any of the other 51 weeks to visit. As for airfare, with your play it it always there with the right host. You just have to push the issue sometimes and don't take no for an answer.

ok - maybe I am not as hip as I think but does "leg" = women?
I have contacted my host and her boss and was given the "we are covering your room and concert tickets as well as the NYE party invite" - as such, airfare can only be calculated based on your play at the end of your stay
Quote: aceofspadesOhhhh what have you heard?
Unfortunately, not too many specifics, other than my friends saying that they had a "blast" when they went. (Then again, everybody who goes to Vegas says that...lol)

Did they go to the Aria event?

They were there for several days, but come to think of it, I'm not sure about the actual event. I think they went, but I'll ask the next time I see them. (I didn't hang out with them at all that night)

yeah would love to get an actual review of the event
everyone wins their bet. Yep that's right the pit bosses would come over to the tables and tell the BJ dealers to pay all losing bets.
I don't know how high they would dare go, And you were never 100% sure they would do it that year. I'm sure if someone was betting 5k or something outrageous they would avoid doing this, but $500 bets got paid.
Grand opening night or something like that, Terrible's they Did the same type of thing I believe it was once and hr only on the pitch games, along with 3 to 1 on BJ's but only on the shoe games.

I see what you did there.

I swear I could work in Vegas and if midnight hit while I was dealing I would not even look up from the table. Only reason I even stayed up past 10:00 the last two is because I was working. NYE was fun as a kid but to me it is now an over-hyped downer.
Quote: mdsI also did the NYE festivities in Vegas many times. Every year from 1985 to 1997! THOSE WERE THE DAYS! Always a great time. Haven't gone there for NYE the last 10 years or so due to having a little kids. I too was invited this year as well by Wynn, Caesars, Venetian, Cosmo and Aria.. I am going to the Aria this year because I never was there for NYE. It does get old fast but a new environment for me will be fun. Im going to also get a room at the Cosmo just because im able to. It is right next door to the Aria. That way I can enjoy both properties. (Cosmo is usually a really young crowd. Too young for me but don't know about NYE) If you are going RFB which it looks like to me, no worries about the crowds. You will never wait in a line and be able to find a table to play at. (most of the time with a high avg bet) Don't walk on the strip. I too am going to Fleetwood. Will be a fun show. Make sure you get invited to their VIP NYE party at Aria. By the way all the above hotels are having VIP parties. Hard to get tickets but it sounds like you play enough to enjoy the festivities. See you there! As far as you plane tickets, ask? No harm.
I also was invited to the blackjack tournament at Aria the week before so, instead of the NYE trip, I am going to the blackjack tournament and will do NYE in Atlantic City.

I were the execs.... , I would have offered you a free match play coupon. And hope you will lo........

Wha??? So where does that leave me, now I have
to get a special voodoo doll for NYE? I was going
to just use the one, I thought you were staying
thru NYE in Vegas. Sigh..
