Well, I was trying to get a comparison of McD's to BK's so I could get a semi accurate test run of 50. I wanted the Wizards opinion on if they were comparable or not so I didn't waste time/money/etc.

I have consulted with nutritional expert Dr. Google and he informed me that:

BK....... 10 pc Chicken Nuggets..... 175 g serving size..... 470 calories
McD.... 10 pc Chicken Nuggets..... 162 g serving size..... 470 calories

So it looks like they are pretty comparable to me. OR roughly 9 BK Nuggets = 10 McD Nuggets.

I would have guessed that the BK nuggets were smaller.

Yes, I would think that ground up beaks, feathers, feet, and possibly some chicken feces for flavor, would be essentially calorie free.

Okay kiddies... I decided to give it my practice go, 50 nuggets (from BK for money savings). Here's how it all went down:

My Day
Got up and had a cup of Oatmeal (carbs for training). Then I went to MMA training, as I usually do on Saturdays. Good tough training today (some days are lighter than others)

Showered up, ate a small bag of baked chips (140 cals), then went golfing, because there's probably only a couple decent days to play left where I live. So golfed 9 holes in some chilly weather (which actually burns a pretty fair amount of calories).

We got back to my place and were of course rather hungry. I didn't feel "starved" but I was certainly eager after working out twice today and only having a cup of oatmeal and a small bag of baked chips. I mentioned the challenge to my brother and friend (whom is the one that usually accompanies me on my weekend AP trips). My brother and I both felt confident, but to not make the same mistakes of others, we decided to just get 50 nuggets to test the waters.

The Challenge
My brother runs and gets the "stuff" while my friend and I dealt a couple 8D shoes to one another. He returned, I put my 50 in front of me (with bbq and honey mustard sauce):

Now, the details...

I used only half a cup of water (I was drinking my chocolate milkshake for the first 30 nuggets). I was using a strategy of eating 2 nuggets at a time, rotating sauces, but mostly bbq. I finished the 50 nuggets in 9 minutes and 38 seconds:

The After Party
After 50, I felt 100% normal. I felt, of course, like I'd had a bit to eat, but I felt strong like I could pound another 50. After training hard today, and the fact that I plan on trying to get a fight in a month or two, I decided not to keep the nuggets down. To my surprise it was very difficult to get them to come back up. I pounded some water, gave it a few more minutes, then things were evacuated properly.

Now I'm enjoying the rest of the shake and going to eat something healthy for dinner =). Of course all of this is my word, but I do give you my word everything I've stated is 100% true. For reference, I'm 5'11'', 170lbs, and I've been counting for about 8-9 years (you figure that out lol). Overall I'm in pretty good shape (training to fight helps that a lot).

Final Verdict
I'm not going to underestimate the final 50. While the first 50 was easy, I really do think getting to the Mission/etc break point of 85+ would start to not feel very fun. However, I do believe I could complete this challenge, as I originally surmised. I might be in Vegas the first quarter of next year, so perhaps if no one else beats the challenge before then, I'll give it a proper go.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

Do you think that helps or hurts? I notice that constant moderate exertion makes me ravenous, but going balls to the wall shuts down my appetite for several hours.

Thank you for the story and doing the pre-challenge! I'm 90% sure the challenge will still be standing in Q1 2015 and you are more than welcome to step up to the plate. Question -- Are you okay with doing McDonald's nuggets for the official challenge?

Richman himself did 58 challenges over three years, although about 1/3 of them were not "massive amounts of food" challenges but "moderate amount of intensely spicy food" challenges.

As for his subsequent problems, "the version I heard was," he used the word "thinspiration" as a mantra for losing weight, unaware that this is also a mantra for anorexics.

He did one show in Vegas, which I will remember for the first line, which was something like "Las Vegas is home to some of the best restaurants, featuring the best chefs, in the world...and I'm not going to set foot in any one of them!" (This is pretty much my mentality as well - if I want to spend $100 on food, I want to eat something that I consider $100 worth of food.)

I guess I'm spoiled because I have eaten at some incredible places, to many to list (Delmonicos and Picasso are among my favorites ) normally everything is comped.

Even if nothing was comped I would still try new places in Vegas, just less often and I would be more selective.

Theres a few places I enjoy enough to pay for. Osaka is a local Japanese restaurant with great food, fair prices and extensive menu. I get there probably a few times a month.

Well, maybe I'll eat somewhere "fancy" if I'm comped. Then again, whenever I go to Vegas, I rarely take any non-casual clothes - certainly never a sport coat/jacket, much less a suit, so if the prices didn't stop me, the dress code probably would.

I am fine with it being McDonald's nuggets; that's what I was planning on. The BK nuggets were just to save some cash and do a quick trial run. I am concerned the McDonald's nuggets are fattier/greaser... but I still think I would at a minimum give the challenge a great run. If/when I do the challenge, I will plan to have it done in under 25 minutes. I was keeping a pace, but I wasn't 'speed eating' when I just did the pre-challenge, so I think I could do it a litter faster.

Quote: Big Dog Daddy Challenge (Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill at Harrah’s)

The 6-pound-plus Big Dog Daddy challenge brings 100 ounces of burger, a bun, cheese, toppings, a pound of fries, a quart of beer and, of course, an order of Twinkies. Named for Toby Keith’s album of the same name, those who finish this task in one sitting earn a spot on the wall of fame and a custom Big Dog Daddy T-shirt.

Based on the variety and the quantity, #9 seems way out of reach. It is roughly equivalent to eating 29 quarter pound burgers.. and a pack of Twinkies. It would be difficult to find takers on the "Yes" without very long odds.

I think #8 could be more of an interesting challenge. I don't know anything about their tacos, but I do know tacos come in a variety of sizes.

Do you have a CV on your almost cousin-in-law? Has he done any organized eating competitions (even a pie eating contest at a company picnic)?

Edit: There was a pancake challenge at the Golden Gate downtown. I don't know if it is still being offered. Great breakfast's there.

For any craft beer lover, Todd English is by far the worst place in Vegas to enjoy a good beer. Prices for 12oz craft beers are double even over priced places on the strip. Example, which is probably still on tap, Abita Spring IPA, cost $122 a half barrel (Yields 132 pints) $11.50 a 12oz draft draft. Cost less than $1.00 a draft, Sure rents are high in Vegas but 7% cost is insane. Visit these local breweries and even with the cost of a cab you are far ahead if you drink more than 1 or 2 at $5 as pint or less

Downtown:

Hop Nuts
Chicago (At 4 Queens)
Triple7 (Main St Station)
Banger Brewing (Fremont)

Strip
Sin City (3 locations, $5 drafts)

Henderson
Bad Beat Brewing
Hopcraft

Or visit Aces and Ales (2 locations) for great crafts from around the world for $4 to $6

Todd English is a rip off for food and beer.

Do you have a CV on your almost cousin-in-law? Has he done any organized eating competitions (even a pie eating contest at a company picnic)?

All I know he is woofed down that McDonalds burger and he did a wings challenge at Hooters, the specifics I don't recall right now, but I think it was about 40 or 50 wings.

I'd prefer to do a challenge with a forum member but none are stepping up.

I am pretty sure that I could eat 32 tacos. I had to back away from the McNugget challenge due to the chemicals but I'd be down for 32 tacos. Probably slightly more quantity than the nuggets but doable in my opinion. Haven't had their tacos but thinking along the lines of Tacos El Gordo size wise.

How quick can a person eat 2 Chipotle burritos?

You want to eat things that have lots
of air in them, and McDung-gets have
none. They sit there like an iron ball
in your gut. Tacos make sense. The
taco shell takes no room at all, and
the filling is meat and lots of sauce.

Do the tacos. All meat, no beans.

I think I will get much better offers if this should take place.

Not if people are smart(OK obviously it cant be even money)

We have been letting the line get out of hand. I swear, I was getting odds on the no at the beginning. Now I have to give as much as 5 to 1 on the no.

I'm asking all the NO's to quit taking the bets until the price becomes reasonable again.

I know I set a bad example when I made Maxpen that offer, But I was fairly certain Max didn't have any clue what he was getting himself into. I was fairly certain he would grab a 20 piece and then realize what a bad bet he was getting himself into.

The present WoV leader in the McNugget challenge is still Son of SooPoo at 88 nuggets, and remember, he used the first part of his allotted hour to run two miles and do two NY Times crossword puzzles. He has successfully completed a 6 pound burrito challenge in a half hour here in Buffalo and won a tshirt and hat for his efforts.
Another interesting challenge is the Homer Simpson... run 2 miles after eating a dozen Krispy Kreme;s...

In case anyone is interested, a month or so ago there was a( Las Vegas?) magazine called the Sunday. It had a competitive food eating challenge segment in it with tips and other information. I have a copy somewhere.

( http://thesunday.com/ perhaps someone can dig up that issue online)

Well this guy can't be a favorite customer of any of the Buffets:

"HIT THE BUFFET

In the week leading up to a competition, Juan Rodriguez, a valley resident who is the 11th-best competitive eater in the world, eats at least three buffet meals, eating platefuls of food for up to three hours. He tries to fill two plates of food from each section: Italian, Chinese, American."

Why would anybody do that to themselves. Our
bodies weren't meant to process that much food
at one time. It's a fact that people who eat
sparingly live longer than those who eat too
much.

What is it that creates the perception that longevity, in and of itself, is a desirable attribute? I mean, sure, I'd like to exceed the average human lifespan, but only on the condition that I can do anything that I want in the meantime. What good is the process of living long if you didn't enjoy it?

I mean, if people enjoy extreme self-discipline, then sure, good show. I certainly like to have some discipline, but you'll never see me on a diet that anyone would refer to as eating, 'sparingly.'

Spoken like somebody who just turned
30. You may be surprised, but your
priorities change when you get to around
50. You start saying things like, gee maybe
all that smoking I did wasn't the wisest
choice. And now I have diabetes and
a bad liver from all drinking and crap I
ate. Never assume how you look at
things now will be the same 10 years
from now.

I knew three people who said things just
like you're saying and they all died of
lung cancer in their 40's and 50's. All
of them were shocked, all of them said
they wished they had been wiser in their
habits. And all of them had said for years
'screw it', life is to be lived, and you have
to do it your way. I felt sorry for none
of them. They got what they wanted, even
though getting it made them very sad.

I like the attitude that Mission poses here, might be good
I like the reality that EB just brought back into the discussion, good stuff.
Curveball...
What if you were born into a family where everyone, nearly everyone incl grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles, maybe even your own siblings lost their mental faculties long, very long, before their physical bodies just shut down and said bye-bye? What if you cared for them long after they forgot who you were, even if they knew you were a friend? Where between the extremes would be a comfortable niche for you? It's not an easy question, just a real one.
No cheers here. 2F
