Outrage over $21 for 6 nachos:
https://vegas.eater.com/2024/1/26/24051397/fontainebleau-las-vegas-nachos-social-media-controversy

The pic was from Mike Herman, the director of slot operations for the Rio.
He tweeted “Hey @fblasvegas, we waited an hour for food in the Sportsbook and this is our nachos??? Come on man.”

Another sign that it's Not looking good for Fontainebleau:

Within weeks of opening, its vice president of revenue management, senior vice president of casino operations, chief operating officer and chief marketing officer had all left.

About two months ago, since I had a few offers.

Food court was expensive, but it was a tasty enough sandwich, I guess. Tables were mostly empty on a weekend afternoon. BJ limits started at 25. Hung out for about 30min at HL tables, cycled a few thousand on a Buffalo Ascension that looked promising (It hit, but failed to pay.). I now get... Best Rates. I previously had a room offer there, but they wanted resort fees on it, so... nope.

Mostly unrelated, but I wonder how things would turn out if they gave you back your resort fee in the form of a resort credit or freeplay. They still get a guaranteed bite of your money, but the visitor feels like they get something out of it (I'll take a burger over all the over 'benefits'...), or a fair shot at your money, and, realistically, most people aren't going to just play the money and leave, once they've bothered to sit down.

Why would they? People are paying those fees at almost every property so they don't have to. If we all don't go to places that charge the resort fee, they would stop.
You can't know everything, but you can know anything.

Another point of differentiation? It's like the places that advertised free parking. (And will probably end up like free parking, unfortunately.) "Sure, we charge resort fees-- but you actually get something good here!"

In my personal case though, it did explicitly drive me away from the Fontainebleau-- I like checking out new properties, but I'm certainly not going to bother when they're charging me the resort fees even on a comped room. Instead, I'm going to roll down the street to the Wynn and give them a shot. (Which I guess turned out good for the Fontainebleau that time )
