Do it through ebates and get a 3% cash back as well. Use my link if you don't already have an.account with ebates. ebates.com/r/JASONB1185?eeid=37142
Also use 3% cash back credit card and this deal is pretty good.
I will be in town Jan 19th, 20th, and 21st if anyone wants to get a group together and do this. Sounds like a fun drinking party to be had. Romes claims to be the best drinker. Good place to put that to the test.
Initially it wasn't particularly popular, like the monorail.
Has it become a popular attraction / are they making good money off of it now?
Quote: PokerGrinderI went right after it opened up with 3 friends. My host was able to get me 4 free tickets, it was well worth the price of free. I’m not sure how I would have felt if I had paid $35 for my ticket though. It was a neat experience/view but I don’t think I would ever do it a second time. I also went up the Eiffel Tower for free and that was really cool but again I don’t know if I would have been happy paying $20 to go up.
Well I figure 30 each for a half hour of premium drinks are a decent deal. Even if I only have 5 drinks then the value should be ok.
If you wanna drink on the ride, pucker up and bend over for the $25 cocktails.
I don't claim to be the best drinker, just one that can handle his alcohol =).Quote: GWAE...I will be in town Jan 19th, 20th, and 21st if anyone wants to get a group together and do this. This is for the high roller, right? I thought tickets normally were cheaper than $60? Maybe that wasn't for 2 though...
Quote: gamerfreakI just asked at the diamond counter and they comp’d me tickets.

These tickets include a free open bar.

Tickets for the night time open bar are around $50 each regular price and normally you can get them for around 40 on sale or through 3rd party sites. So 60 for 2 is a decent deal.
Quote: pingpangpongOk first off it's only 40 or 60 dollars for some entertainment and perhaps it makes your loved one happy so that's a good thing. There are ways to get free tickets and locals get discounts as well I think. If someone has the money to take a Vegas trip they have the little money to ride that Ferris Wheel, if that's what they want to do. I'm all for that. Where I think your not evaluating correctly is the "free" drinks. That's a clear scam. Drinks are basically free in Vegas. I see people paying 60 dollars or more at the bars all the time for a round. It's not hard to circle every cocktail waitress station and pay 1 to 2 dollars in tips for drinks and that money goes to an individual instead of the Casino making over 300% in profit. So if you want to ride the wheel... enjoy it but don't get sucked into that open bar scam BS.
Ok thanks
Sheesh. Have fun, have as man drinks as you can, have a goofy little story to tell when you get home.Quote: pingpangpongSo if you want to ride the wheel... enjoy it but don't get sucked into that open bar scam BS.
It's not called the "Highroller" for nothing, is it?
Quote: MrVI wonder if they'd throw too much of a fit if somebody smoked some recreational marijuana on the ride while they're already high (in the air)?

No reason to smoke. Recently I made a huge batch of thc infused sugar cookies. For me I only need 1/8 of a cookie or even less to get a 12 hr lift off. Be careful though I ate a 1/4 of a cookie a few weeks ago and it was one of those nightmare bad trips. No fun holding on for dear life for 4 hours.
About the open bar... they probably won't give you 5 double whatever on the rocks which is what I would do in 5 to 10 mins of circling waitress stations or bars fake playing paying 5 dollars total. A place like that will limit your drinking experience for sure. Unless you get a cool bartender and tip him well and maybe the floodgates will open.
I guess my point is that you shouldn't get caught up in the open bar offer. Go there because you want to and enjoy it. For me the experience is ruined because they have a blaring television with ads and countdowns and I don't like that just like I don't like 50 ft led screens at my ballpark when I'm watching a baseball game but I'm old.

That would be funny. From trip reports that I have heard they have no limit. People seem to start with a shot or 2 and go from there.
Anyways, wife and I will be doing the High Roller on Friday Jan 19th around 8 or 9pm I think. Date is set but time is not. If anyone wants to get a group together we can do that, maybe dinner, gambling, or whatever. We will be kids and plans free.
In 30 minutes in had 1 shot, 9 drinks, and a beer to go. The drinks were in small like maybe 8 oz glasses and at most 1oz 9f liquor in each. But they are free so I guess size doesnt matter sinc you can have as many as you want.
Quote: GWAEWe did the happy half hour last night. Views were good and ride was fine but I would have been bored without the alcohol. We shared a car with 4 people that were early 20s and they were already drunk. We had a woman bartender who was nice but not much of a personality. I prefer guy bartenders. They seem to have more fun when doing their job.

So much for RAMP training! Glad to hear you got your monies worth. I usually grab 1 beer for the ride and it lasts the trip. I’m a lightweight compared to you.
