For example, when / if recreational use (not just medical marijuana) is legalized, similar to how it is now in Oregon, there could be some interesting options in weddings.
Some folks in West Linn, Oregon broke new ground in having a "marijuana bar" serviced by a "budtender" for their wedding reception.

While such a thing may never come to Las Vegas, it might, and if it does, couples will have another option to add to getting married by Elvis.
Heck, if the bud is strong enough, they may well convince themselves that the King has arisen from the dead.
Recreational legalization is on the ballot via initiative in 2016, that would be interesting to see if there's much negative effect to negate the tax revenue and reduced law enforcement costs I suppose.
Personally, I was thinking of obtaining a grow-house license but (1) the quota of permits was already filled and (2) was told it takes at least $10 million to get such a business going.

I haven't followed all that closely, just the occasional story that I see on the Vegas local news, mixed in with all the depressing shootings stories, but it seems like Nevada has regulated the hell out of this industry. Near as I can tell, it costs upwards of 7 figures to go through all the licensing, and approvals, with numerous inspections. Looks like there is probably some payoffs involved. :/

I believe you meant to say medical marijuana card, recreational use/possession is still illegal. I thought a saw an article in RJ that first dispensary opened up in Southwest vegas yesterday.
Maybe one featuring all the characters in "Reefer Madness," for example.
Kids (and parents, and grandparents: hell, all the stoners) would probably relate to that cult classic.

You said that and I was immediately thinking about RCrumb (cartoonist), but I think the money endorsement/theme is Cheech and Chong.
Not only is it the title of a classic weed flick, it accurately depicts what happens to their bankroll.

There was a young Wizard of Vegas,
Who really just wanted to take us,
Down the gambling math trail,
So that all might inhale;
But still speak no rhymes may he wanna.

Those dispensaries (the legal kind) went live this week. Today in fact for the general public holding a MMJ in any of the states that have one.

Hopefully we can get some traction on Schedule-1 soon!
Next time I come to Las Vegas I will bring my MMJ card and purchase some medicine at a dispensary.
So far, so good.
My question: where can I legally consume it in Las Vegas / Clark county, as I have no home there, only a room in a casino?

In Nevada PRIVATE USE ONLY! Nevada is VERY STRICT ABOUT THIS RULE!
Obviously this means there is a WHOLE OTHER CONVERSATION of what is "private" and what is "not private" when it comes to the law.
Short answer: "GET A ROOM!!!" You want the state (and the state revenues) to be happy about what you're doing. Anything with a tax on it that you're paying for can't HURT.
And yes, there is tax on (legal) marijuana sold here.
Quote: ArticleBut on Saturday, he said, officers started arresting patients who were peacefully using marijuana in their cars. And on Sunday, a SWAT vehicle showed up and officers were on the roof of the building.
This article highlights the gray areas of "what is private?"
I would advise caution.

I wonder if they'll become more tolerant?
Should MMJ users request a "smoking" as opposed to "non smoking" room, if any are available, and would this be a "bye?"
This is a "real world" question for visitors to Las Vegas with valid MMJ paperwork, as the only place we are likely to find ourselves in where we can imbibe in a non-public place would likely be our room at the casino (unless we are in someone else's home, which is unlikely).
You might even go so far as to suggest that you can vape if required, but you don't already know how all of that works and just want to smoke for now if possible until you learn more about vaping. Make up a story about your doctor encouraging you to do this but you haven't gotten around to it, and that you're just sensitive and don't want anyone to complain about the odor in the vicinity of your room.
Anyone else that finds a casino sympathetic to MMJ patients can post that up here. We may find casinos volunteering an entire floor for marijuana smokers. I found a floor in the venetian that the whole floor smelled like marijuana one time. It was the floor that the Piazza room was on FWIW, and you have to get special permission just to get on that floor. This may be one reason if they put those folks all up on the same floor. Look into it, and you might find they have different rules for that floor due to business structure that enables this.
If you specifically search out this floor on a friday night to verify, you might find that folks with MMJ are sent here just for this reason
If this did turn out to be the case, I would expect that knowledge of which hotels and floors are MMJ friendly might be private information though, and change on a monthly basis. Just in case your employer had a record of the room you got in a hotel you stayed in during a business trip for example. If casinos haven't thought of this problem, consider it a recommendation for coping with keeping folks split from one another. Plenty of cigarette smokers don't smoke marijuana. Also, asking smokers if they also smoke marijuana may be a way to WIN business if you EMBRACE them and offer them special deals just for them. "I can upgrade you to room 420 for free where we have a high roller special setup waiting for you."
Just some things to think about from my observations here in Vegas over the years. But I honestly don't know.
Quote: ams288Get a room at the Cosmo and smoke it on the balcony. Every time I stay there I can smell other people's weed when I'm on the balcony.
Also stand by the elevator at Caesers on a smoking floor. I always get a contact high and you'll probably make new friends.
Ask old school dealers about the halcyon cocaine days.
