Article: Nevada, California, or Texas: Which State Has the Highest Heels?
The question for the poll is how do you feel about it?
Quote: WizardThe answer is Nevada! We may be last in education but at least we're first in this.

We in FL are number 2.
Probabbly due to the Miami South Beach chicks.
I voted bigot.
I just got 2 pairs of shoes, athletic and dress.
So... congratz?
I never vote.
I have 9 pairs. One good sneak, one work sneak, 3 pairs of ratty crick shoes, muck boots, hip waders, chest waders, and racing shoes. 11 if you count blades and ice skates. 12 if you count smoking slippers. 13 if you count swim flippers =)
Only the boots have a heel.
There are less women in Nevada than other states, so the purchases of a few individuals could be overrepresented in the results.
Also, how is the height of a heel measured? Is it from the point where the heel touches the ground to the highest or lowest point where the heel is connected to rest of the shoe, or is there some other standard?
Quote: AyecarumbaThe report is based on sales from a shoe website. Perhaps this has skewed the results since customers could only buy what the site carried.

The height of a heel is from the bottom of the heel to the bottom of the foot. However, if the sole has more than 1" on the instep/toe part, it's a "platform" and the heel is measured from bottom of the heel to the bottom of the platform under the heel. Heel height is intended to give an idea of the tilt more than total height.
I would guess that Vegas has a greater percentage of "women who have to wear heels for work" than any other state. Showgirls, cocktails, escorts, female impersonators, etc.etc.etc.
Heels suck. Yes, they make any woman's legs look better, longer, slimmer. They hurt like hell; doesn't matter how well they fit. If you wear them too much, your feet become deformed, and your lower back is in constant pain. Platforms get the same thing done with a lower arch, usually, but there are a ridiculous amount of injuries falling off them, which is usually worse than falling off heels.

Bigot also, and I have 2 pair, winter and summer.
Quote: FleaStiffI've never understood why women wear them. Oh, sure some occupations place demands. FMPs for hookers and those who want to dress like hookers. Airline stewardesses have to wear attractive shoes but can't wear stilettos or they would go through the airliner's floor. A good sturdy shoe over a stylish one is much more sensible.
Earlier this year was walking out of Bleachers Madhouse nightclub at the Vegas MGM.
2 women dressed to the nines in high heels were waliking out also , in front of me.
I could overhear them
"I cant believe we did this. My feet are killing me"

Nobody has ever accused me understanding a single thing about women, including why they wear high heels if they are so unsafe and uncomfortable. Yes, they make the legs look a little better but to me at least they send off a message the woman is unapproachable and out of my league.
