Please try our new Name that Carpet game. All choices are in downtown. We'll make a Strip version when I get around to going there and taking pictures.
Don't feel badly if don't do well. I just took all the pictures and even I got only an 8. How did you do?

I've only been in a couple downtown casinos, and only for a couple days. (I think I've spent a total of 5 nights in various downtown hotels.)
I simply paired the style with what I know about the styles of the casinos.
I got 7 out of 11.

It took over two months, but I finally visited all 26 Strip casinos from the Mandalay Bay to Circus Circus to make the Strip edition of the name that carpet game.
My score was 23. How did you do?

I scored 8 on the strip. I've been to all of these properties many times (except for "the Quad", what is the Quad?), so it's interesting how I don't pay any attention to the floor.
Another interesting quiz would be to use photos of $5 casino chips (blacking out wherever the casino name appears).

Indeed. I went there for the first time to snap the carpet picture last week. They seem to be half-way through a remodel. The new theme is a modern boxy look. Here is a picture of the old IP, showing what the old carpet looked it.

17 on the strip
6 Downtown
I scored high on the strip due to an advantage play and basic strategy
I noticed a common theme with many of the MGM properties. I just happened to be right.
The basic strategy I will have to keep to myself.

Hmmm. Here is my basic strategy:
Wynn casinos: Extremely loud and colorful. Emphasis on red (a lucky color for Asians).
MGM casinos: Emphasis on curves and big patterns. Fairly obnoxious, but not as bad as Wynn.
Harrahs casinos: More understated and not attention grabbing. They also tend to be more worn out, as I'm sure the penny pinchers are slow to fork out the bucks to replace anything still functional. I am too.
Venetian: The Venetian and Palazzo carpet are so different that it is hard to make a rule of thumb. They replaced the Venetian carpet during my tenure there. As I recall, the old carpet was an calm pattern like what is still at the Palazzo.

My BS is to remember which Casinos have been the correct answer.
As for the AP, MGM casinos tend to favor polka dots. Many of them.

You can make it a little harder by having 30 questions, and shuffle after 20.
This will allow for 4 casinos to be the correct answer twice.
You'll still have to program the last 6 unique casinos to be right answers.
As it is, we're counting into 100% penetration and 26 different cards.

Maybe it shouldn't score as it goes. At the end announce the score and review the incorrect answers.

Okay, I hope you're happy, JB completely redid the tests. Now you don't get scored until the end. I just retook all of them. Here are my scores:
Downtown: 64%
Reno: 80%
Strip: 96%
Surprising that I would do better on the Reno test than downtown. The one Strip casino I missed was Harrah's.
Retake the tests. Who knows, this may come up in the WoV trivia challenge next week.

You're not the first to say that. I went to a talk on casino design once and they said the floors and ceilings are supposed to be obnoxious and a bit of an eye-sore to keep you looking straight ahead, at the games. Or, in my case, the cocktail waitresses.
