The abandoned Key Largo Casino caught fire yesterday and did substantial damage to whatever was left. The Key Largo is just across the street from my office. Anyone have any fond memories of this place? I moved here 3 1/2 years ago and it has always been closed. With the Hard Rock, Terribles, and Tuscany all right in this area, and the Howard Hughes Business area, I would have thought that someone would have taken some interest in this place.

I found out why no one took an interest, http://www.lvcolliers.com/htmlreports/htmlreport_main.aspx?pstring=1016052097.30, they were asking $50,000,000.

$50,000,000?? wow. That's more than Pinnacle is paying for each open and operational Ameristar property.

Its a small parcel of real estate. Mega properties in the area are in trouble so why buy and build a small place? Its having a license is great but the owner would need to pass muster with the Gaming Board and that can take eons.

The value probably went up after it burned.

They had a good lunch special, Cheeseburger and Fries, back
in the day. If I recall correctly, it was $ 1.99 or 2.99.
There's emptiness behind their eyes
There's dust in all their hearts
They just want to steal us all and take us all apart
