If I were you, I'd spend the leftover cash on an extremely high variance play. Maybe some purple chip roulette or $50 slots. Go for a trip to Macau.
Gambling is a separate budget. I'm looking for suggestions for a hotel. A hotel that I'm willing to pay for.Quote: ahiromuDidn't you have taxes taken out? Or is $2200 after that?

I'm sure it's nice but I'm looking for something a little more old style Vegas but without all the smoke.Quote: TIMSPEEDWe recently stayed at The Palazzo...definitely the best room I've ever stayed in!
I voted MGM/Mirage and Other Independent.
Bellagio is a fantastic center-strip property. And, to me, there's something about the Rampart that screams "old vegas" and that casino just happens to be at the JW Marriott resort.
All Non-Smoking Tower.
A corner suite.
You can be within a 5 minute walk to EVERYTHING Downtown.
It really doesn't get better than this(IMHO)being Downtown.
Quote: s2dbakerSo far, I leaning towards The D, Four Queens, El Cortez, The Riviera and there's an outside chance for Gold Coast. Which is least likely to give me a rash if I sleep there?
I have stayed at Four Queens, and El Cortez in the last 3 months. Both clean and comfortable- no complaints here.

El Cortez is one of my favorite spots in Vegas. If you are going to stay there get the American Casino guide. Between the $10 slot play and 50% the already reasonable steakhouse it will pay for itself, plus I believe it has a coupon for a discounted room, 2 nights for the price of one. Then it has $10 match play at both Plaza and Vegas club, plus $25 match play at Golden Gate. The last three coupons alone give you more than $20 of EV which pays for the book and gives you an excuse to see all the places downtown.
I have never stayed at the Gold Nugget but I understand it to be on par with a mid level strip property like a TI or Mirage, please correct me if this is wrong (I am sure someone will!) I was disappointed with the 4 queens, it felt very bland, like a econolodge room. The El Co is low end but clean and it has a vintage feeling, plus the tower rooms are big and they will comp a night for every $2000 of slot VP coin in. This is not a hard and fast rule so go to the players club when you get there, ask to speak to a host (there ain't any but play dumb) and then talk to the slot director (I believe his name is Tim) and ask how much to comp off a room. That 2000 points will also earn you $4 cash plus about the same in a seperate comp account.
But that's just my opinion!
You might be better off staying in the storm drains!
So I can not say anything bad about the RIV. But free is always nice.
Quote: AhighIn my humble opinion, the Riviera is the absolute worst casino that I have ever been to in the entire state.
Have you ever been to the Eureka casino on Sahara?
How about Railroad Pass?
Heck, this is a subject worthy of its own thread.

Nope and nope. And I'll tell you I didn't want to go to the Riviera when I went there. Another person dragged me there, and I absolutely wish I had never been!!!
As far as another thread about where not to go, that sounds interesting.
I actually like many lower limit casinos and casinos with more colorful characters.
But I hated the Riviera. Again, just opinion, but really hated it.
I like Fiesta, and I even like Joker's Wild when I visit there .. I have fun.
But the Riviera, for playing craps, which is all I do .. like they call the five "no no!!"

it is a dive for sure but the service is excellent, before heading to the strip i usually get a couple of drinks for cheap, if you are into video machines this is the place for you, the neighborhood is sketch, crackheads, trannies, and prostitutes always walking around but inside just to watch a game and drink for cheap is fine

Railroad pass has even more entertaining entries, too many to pick from to include here though.

I found your Aladdin ATM but he didn't love me like he loved you. My sister and I chose to use some free play on them and I never got the bonus although she did pretty well on hers. Nothing spectacular like your result! And I saw your Karl Rove but he was a bit younger and heavier than my Karl Rove (the section I had been in for my win had a much younger guy in it that weekend but it was near the bar where the music plays and the singer was AWFUL! So bad she ran us off our favorite machines and she probably ran out my Karl Rove...) and he still seemed to be happy but he wasn't giving out any money that night.
Thank you, I will channel as much PV as I can. I got some at The Four Queens last night at Texas Hold'em Bonus :)Quote: FarFromVegasGood luck! (Or Positive Variance!)
OMG OMG OMG!!!! I saw the worstest Elvis Impersonator (Fat Elvis) at the ElCortez OMG OMG OMG!!! He was so loud but here's the strange part, he had fans!! There were people surrounding the lounge there to see him. I had a sad for humanity.Quote: FarFromVegasit was near the bar where the music plays and the singer was AWFUL! Quote: s2dbakerWow! Up $400 this morning just walking to the ElCortez to use a BOGO coupon for breakfast. $200 at The D and another $200 at the ElCortez. Yay!!
That's almost worth enduring Fat Elvis for!
Yes! I just went there for the first time a couple weeks ago. I've been back once. I really like playing NSUD for quarters at the bar and drinking Newcastles on draft. (They give you those big "Geordie" glasses. Sweet!) They also almost always have a drawing or promotion of some sort. The casino might be in the worst neighborhood in Vegas.Quote: MrVHave you ever been to the Eureka casino on Sahara?
It was literally calling out to me!:
